Seeing a whole lot of talk, but not much in the way of results here, guys ........ When Madiaba and I were cranking on an arena idea, we got it DONE. (DSL Garage/Warehouse/Hall of Fame)
Am I gonna hafta come back and start kicking a$$ and taking names?
Madiaba: I still have the ENTIRE list of arena ideas that we first came out with - they were all saved (with maybe a post or two missing from the end) before the original forum took a dump......

Very cool, thanks for the info on II's Summer Magic. One of these days, I really should drag out all my stock remakes, dust them off and get them AI'd, and upload it in a pack for release. I have a large reskin pack for all the stock components, and some of the arenas - I need to get that out there, too.

Well, II, I have to admit that you and the others are doing quite the job of rebuilding everything. The diversity of the new bots, and the more powerful upgrades are done very well - kudos to you and the others for rising to the challenge of revamping the old stock bots. I think once done, this will be a very impressive pack.

Kill: No duct tape yet, but gimme some time ... Oh, yeah, latest addition to the bike: DuPont spraycan muffler system. Real high-tech here, guys ... :P
Mad: A 670 Rotex? Sounds interesting ... there are some guys that have managed to stuff 110cc engines in these little things. I might want to pick that up from you .... The original fairings were all cracked and destroyed, so I yanked them off. Unfortunately, meant that I had to remount the gas tank somehow, sooooo .......
Acams: considering that I could literally park the whole bike on top of a 572, with enough room for at least another bike up there, I kinda don't see that happening, but man, think of the monster torque it'd pull .....
Giga: Had to swing by and say hey, let you guys know I was doing all right. Like a bunch of the members on here, I was hooked on the game to the point where I was ignoring a lot of other important things, and that wasn't good. I just pretty much had to take a couple of steps back, get some things done, and do some things I've wanted to do for a while.
Also on the plus side of these little hot-rods, there's a few guys here in Tucson that are creating a youth group for kids whose fathers are not a part of their lives (ie, deadbeats, abandoned, passed away, etc.), and are bringing them together in a "big brother" type of group using these pocket bikes as a focal point. The boys (8-12-ish) get to learn how to work with tools, learn all about 2-stroke engines, have mentors to help teach them different tricks and tips about the bikes, get to work together as a team, and also get to compete in a semi-formal setting. Each boy is sponsored a bike, with enough spare parts to build another, and the sponsors/mentors pay membership dues to help cover the costs for the kids. (Oh, yeah, and the sponsors get to bring/wrench on/ride their own bikes at any of the events - how cool is that?) I'm not able to sponsor one of the kids right now, but I can volunteer as "pit crew" to help out when and where I can. And no, they will NOT be subject to any "redneck wrenching" - the Rat was built strictly for fun to see how crazy I could get it.
They just had a small track meet this past weekend, but sadly I missed it because I was visiting friends. Trying to find out now when their next meet is ...

Yup, still around. I haven't been able to get online much lately, due to a new/old job that has me working 12-hr days or so (5 to 5 and then some ...). Usually by the time I get home and cleaned up and have dinner, it's almost time for me to go to bed, to start the vicious cycle all over again. Witrh the huge jobs we're working on (doing a three-month-long job installing workstations at a hospital, 150 stations per floor ... on six floors), I don't have much time to think about much else. Oh, and falling asleep at the keyboard is becoming a regular occurance ..... So, for now, RA2 has been pushed to the back burner for a little while, as I just don't have as much time as I used to anymore. At least I'm managing some irresponsible fun when I can, dragging out one of my latest acquisitions:   This is "The Rat," a 47cc pint-sized pocket rocket I bought off a guy from craigslist - his kid didn't want it anymore, so I got it pretty cheap. Bodywork was destroyed, but the engine ran fine, so I've been working on it, tuning it up, and taking it for a quick spin around the block to annoy the neighbors. (Not to mention chasing jackrabbits and quail - woohoo!) There's a bunch of fun little "redneck repair" items on the bike, such as the stock BMX footpegs, the gas tank hose-clamped to the bare frame, wire mesh between the seat and the tank, and the seat mount made from a chopped-down office keyboard track, but ... it runs, and it runs well (even with the Briggs&Stratton lawnmower gas filter and the homemade Altoids box air cleaner). The pullstarter has recently undergone some "old's cool" pinstriping, with the bike's name in white lettering. Ugly? Yeah. Rideable? Yeah. Fun? HELL YEAH!!! I've been busy, but I haven't forgotten about you guys. I miss working with a bunch of you on different mods, designs, reskins, and the like. As soon as things settle down, I'll dust off the ol' CD and pop 'er back in the drive, and rev up the game again.

His name wasn't really "Father Grumpy," but he was called that because he would kind of grumble and mumble his way through the Sunday service. After a while, the congregation learned where the correct responses were during a normal service, and would answer appropriately.
Well, one day, Father Grumpy went up to the pulpit at the start of the service, not knowing that someone had been testing the sound equipment for the church earlier, and had accidentally left the microphone turned on. He laid down his prayer book, and began fiddling with the mike, trying to adjust it and turn it on while the congregation waited. After a few moments, he grumbled, "There's something wrong with this microphone."
And the congregation responded, "And also with you!"

I came up with a skull-type theme for most of the parts in RA2 ..... kinda wild. (I was on a "Jolly Roger" trip, okay?) Mad's seen a few of them already, but I still have several more parts to skin.

I'd go for some kind of pop-up wedge, maybe something like MikeNCR's Appollyon with an extra set of side-spikes down at the leading edge so I could double as a S&S. I liked his setup with the wedge, the top hooks to hold the opponent on the chassis, and the pint-sized flamethrower, not to mention the chain-whip tail - I'm into damage.

I did the battle ax thing too. There was a S&S bot named Gold Digger that used a pickaxe on one end - I modified it so there were axes on both ends. Worked pretty well, too.

My first serious bot was TweakerBeater, a pop-up wedge runnning N-12's, a single black battery, and a bracket wedge flipper. That version had a pair of razor tips mounted off the sides so I could swing the nose back and forth to do damage, and had the mace doubling as a srimech. Most of you saw TweakerBeater in action during the BBEANS competitions, although that version was rebuild number five.

Sorry I haven't been around too much, guys. Work's been kicking my ass lately (pulling 1's during the week, and now and then on Saturdays, too), and I was so depressed after seeing the RA2 wipe that I haven't been on for several days.
I would like to offer my services for skinning anything that needs it, as long as you're willing to wait a bit for the skins, and also as a 'sounding board' for bouncing around new ideas and suggestions. I may not always be able to talk on the phone about stuff, but I check my emails every day.

Spyguy, I have hacked into about everything in the game except the .exe. You can relocate hazards from one arena to another through the gmf and its python file. I'm not exactly sure what you're looking for but I know many things can be done...... ie: I have relocatd the Flamer torches, the Claws of clawtop arena, and several others objects into new or different arenas. Move and/or re-sized objects in arenas, made 2-player arenas into 4-player (and put together a couple new hazards working with the gmfs and python files).
But I have found, as was mentioned, if you get to many things going at the same time 'lag' will creep in.
Yet with patience, and with time(which I seem to have so little of) many things can be done. This is a liitle more than re-skinning, but I'm sure CB, ACAMS, and Goose, etc. will help if you want to try (and I offer to help too, if needed). Madiaba Hmmm..... interesting. I haven't tried relocating any of the hazards yet (honestly, I haven't even really hacked into the gmf's much, except to fix a few screw-ups with filenames), but that sounds pretty cool, Madiaba. I have lots of ideas for arenas, but not too much on the patience part to figure out how to build them, I'm afraid - I seem to have more fun reskinning things than actually building them, although I have been studying the notepad way of building components and such. Maybe one of these days I'll actually get off my duff and try building something from scratch, myself ..... Thanks for your offer of help, though - I appreciate that. @Click: leave the hazards on in the small arena? Cool! I'll hafta try that .....
