Of course it could be better but I like the 2007-era look.
That said, you could make the chassis just a tad taller so you can mount the Snappers vertically and make the wedges symmetrical. Then get rid of that center baseplate anchor and put two baseplate anchors on the sides instead, in front of the Snappers, and put the Redbirds directly on the anchors. The discs will be further apart and protect the chassis more.
Decided to give this a try; the arms had to be widened to fit the anchors so the bot did have to be made a bit narrower. I get the symmetrical wedges which is nice, so not sure which version I'll keep.

I know taking away rep privileges was supposed to be a quick and simple solution, but I don't see why it couldn't work in the long run as well.
After reading over the thread, it seems like those who voted No think the system is just useless. I don't think that's the case; at the very least the idea of being able to give and receive quick feedback (without anyone else seeing it) should hold some value. For making it public, I can see why people don't want to be misjudged based on a number, but if only responsible users are allowed to rep then you should have around what you deserve. Again, a compromise could be to only show the 5 most recent rep changes if people are still worried about abuse. But personally I think simply limiting privileges to the responsible users is enough to make a public system work. The one thing I would add is to have a clear set of rules written out to ensure every change has a legitimate reason, which could be supported by the drop-down list I mentioned earlier.
Also if people feel like they're missing out on the fun aspect, you can let regular users do it except their changes don't affect the public score. This would also give an idea of whether or not someone would rep responsibly if they had the actual power.

That decal-chassis synergy! Does a great job of throwing back to the old days, I really like that all the components are internal and am pleasantly surprised by the wedginess. With the extra weight, maybe upgrade to irons to prevent getting deweaponed? The motors can surely handle it since it would weigh as much as the typical three-razor setup, and your damage would be lower but I think with the nerfs to HS you are bound to destroy anything you get under anyway. Otherwise...upgrade ballasts or add a pink?
I can kind of get an idea but what were the original bot's insides like?

Will be voting for 2 or 4.
1 had a good shot based purely on splash but that text fill, ugh...also props to 3 for that reference

here is a robot. the robot is a face spinner middleweight. this robot will be my entry for back to the roots (no snapper loading or stacking; discs are legit since i just had to rotate them to fit). the robot has double strength aluminum armour. i hope i remembered all the bot building rules

I think you had some trouble getting your pictures uploaded. Once you take a screenshot of the game with PrtScn or F2, use the "Add image to post" link above the reply box to upload the file from your computer.
Edit: F11, not F2 sorry (that's for Minecraft)

Just so you know, Reforged is an ironforge AI pack, not stock
Wow I'm like the suburban father who can't keep up with the times. So those bots RedAce just showcased were for...the very dead ReStocked?

Is this still helpful for new people? Regardless, I updated the OP with what I could; notes are in the post.

Just asking something slightly off topic: where do you go if you want to ask questions about things like development and all that to the developers?
They answered some questions on the Steam page. It seems like they just lurk the discussions on Steam/GTM/Youtube, so if you just mention something in this thread maybe they'll see it. Not sure if there's a way to directly contact them (someone mentioned e-mail/Twitter earlier), but apparently people have gone to their offices which are in Minnesota. Hi Everyone,
Thank you for your continued questions and support! You have definitely kept us busy this week reviewing feedback from the Steam community, the Gametechmods forums, Youtube, and questions we received from two members of the mod community who were kind enough to come into our offices. hi, only been playing ra2 for a couple of months and then subsequently got super hyped for ra3, just signed up for any news and I would be really happy if someone could show me around
Hello! Have you been playing the original game, or one of the mods? I would think you've browsed GTM a bit if you've been playing for a while, but if you're brand new then welcome to the community! If you'd like to improve your building feel free to take a look at Tutorials and Tips and create a Showcase thread to show your builds and get feedback. We're not exactly the most active place, but if you wanna see what everyone else is up to I recommend checking out their showcases or the Tournaments section. If you wanna talk about anything else, you should create a thread in a different section since this topic is for RA3; either Off-Topic Discussion or Chatterbox would work, though the latter is hidden to you until you join properly.

Kinda out of the loop here, is Reforged just ReStocked v2 with completely different bots? Also not sure which remakes are already done, but I propose M.A.D. or Civil Disobedience for #3.
Love #1 so much! Possible to make reach a little better? #2 looks a little plain and possibly long enough to have flank problems. The weapon-breaker/extender protectors on #3 are really interesting but it seems underweaponed; maybe try snapper setup or 2 pinks?

Hope you find a way to fix those lag (framerate?) issues. That's what I expected when I made my predictions. 090901's bot still looks fairly strong though, rooting for him in the next round.
Not sure if Round 2 or Loser's Round 1 comes next, so here are predictions for both: VRI < RON Zealot > RNT HAD > LS Complexer < BS
Darts > RW AN < ZZFK DTOM < CRHB Rev > SB3
Running 7/8

The production involved is really good! Two things I noticed were that the first match tricked me into turning my speakers up but the in-game sound was really loud compared to the music, and sometimes the bot splashes passed by a bit too quickly. VRI-6C > Darts.02 Expected Rules of Nature > Radioactive Whale Expected
Adopted Nazi > Zealot Didn't realize the popup had plastic...damn (also Geice's chassis is actually quite hard to hit) Zoom Zoom Flip-Kun! < Rough N' Tumble This will be redone but I want to say that I underestimated the height of that arena DONT TREAD ON ME < Hope And Dreams Was actually pretty impressed by Reier's bot Long Schlong > Crouching Robot, Hidden Bear AWFUL MATCH Complexertivity > Re\/olution This was a toss-up and I'm glad both for choosing right and that the matches weren't just deweaponing fests Starburst III < Butterfly Sting Was worried after the first match but Thracker came through!

If the staff really do value its importance for newbies to recognize helpful users, there should be a drop-down list of reasons that you can select from when you give rep and abusers should simply have their privileges taken away. Otherwise, it can stay as a fun but meaningless way to show appreciation for other users - if people think the numbers will confuse new people, just don't show the totals or only show the sum of the 5 most recent actions.

I would definitely be up for Stock and possibly Ironforge if I can learn it in time :P - though I don't really get the rules (isn't it just three separate tournaments?)

VRI-6C > Darts.02 Rules of Nature > Radioactive Whale Adopted Nazi > Zealot Zoom Zoom Flip-Kun! < Rough N' Tumble DONT TREAD ON ME < Hope And Dreams Long Schlong > Crouching Robot, Hidden Bear Complexertivity > Re\/olution Starburst III < Butterfly Sting Long Schlong is my favourite but I boldly predict Butterfly Sting to win. Also if Geice still wants music suggestions, video game boss themes work well. Here are a few specific ones:

so which version would i pick up if i actually want to be able to compare to what everyone else is showcasing? and did ironforge just come out?
the cauldron looks hype, that's actually awesome that a stock tournament just started! will definitely bring back memories from the old days.
i'm actually not sure why i left, just got bored and forgot about it all i guess. none of it was planned even with me starting uni. even if i did make the conscious decision, i don't think i felt close enough with the community enough to warrant a long goodbye letter. i'll have to see how interested i am this time and decide whether or not to stick around

holy sh**...can't believe i managed to remember this place last time i posted was exactly two years ago when i was 17 and finishing high school. now i'm 19 and in my second year at uni still remember doing this for the 10th anniversary: https://gametechmods.com/forums/index.php?topic=13124.0so how much has activity suffered since the first half of 2014? who are the active posters nowadays? do people still build stock/host stock tournaments? and if that's the case (otherwise i might give dsl a try), what are all these fancy building glitches people have discovered? wtf is ironforge? is ra3 for real? i remember acams retiring, everyone being obsessed with mlp, infiniteinertia returning from the grave, geice being a god (has he moved on to conquer dsl?), entering around the world 2 i've basically been studying, playing LoL (ended silver v last season), replaying undertale over and over, watching steven universe, and binging how to get away with murder. abandoned mlp at the end of s2 so idk where that crap has headed either

Is that Ronin's chassis? I guess it would make more sense if it was just a good replica. I think you should either make this a middleweight, or start cutting corners for more weapons. Using DSA (if you haven't already done so), two pinks (again, if not already done), a small wedge, a SnapperII, regular Z-teks, and shiny hub wheels can help free up some weight. You could also get rid of the rear chassis slope, but personally I think it looks cool, plus it can be helpful at the lightweight level. With the extra weight, at the very least you could add more wammer weapons by angling the baseplate anchor a few degrees forward rather than straight up. Try to go for 4 irons to start.

Wow Carrot's bot dominated every aspect of this tournament. I certainly didn't expect a bot whose greatest strength was "insanely wedgy" to win.
