All I wanted was to build a flying rectangle like everyone else, and a hovercraft that doesn't suck so bad at steering or dies in 2 hits.

I don't like playing FPS with handicap, I need a machine with good handling.

Im gonna try building a plane-like tier 1 flier. So I can go all Stuka on tier 1, kekekeAny tips for that ?

I can say it's pretty hard and I wasn't successful building one. It needs perfect balance to stay leveled. Any part shot off will completely destabilize it. That's why most flyers around are small and compact.
Challenge Accepted

Although being a nice ride for its tier, challenge failed. Flyers are somewhat easy to make but a flyer in the shape of a plane is not. I can't see the plane there.

Also I hope they tune down the headlights flare because it's ridiculously bright, specially in day time.
Knowing the weight of everything and how exactly helium works, making a plane at T1 is easy.



Yes it's tier 1, it can float in the air without ascending or descending, and it stay near perfectly balance without any control.

For the crazy folks who wants to build their own stable flyers.

After some quick and dirty, possibly unreliable testing, I found out a simple weight formula exist

For all guns/thrusters/hoverpads/radar

weight == 2.5*(1+Level)

So for example

L1 Thruster will weight 2.5*(1+1) or 5 kg
L5s Top Laser will weight 2.5*(1+5) or 15 kg

Pilot seat weights 15kg.
All wheels weight 50kg.
Headlight weights 4kg.

Helium acts as 2.5kg for calculating center of mass, and can lift 14.175kg (excluding it's own weight).

Also, despite what is listed, Prism and Tetra windows weights the same as their normal armor counterpart.

I like that hovercraft, it looks like a flying submarine (that's when I notice it's called a submarine). The concept isn't far from my Ironclad

The tips are also good, though both our hovercrafts violate the 3rd rule.
Well, I sink it in so it is closer to the center of mass.  But the main reason you want to line it up in the center is so when it gets shot off, you can still move strait.  It is essentially build for durability.  All the option 2 stuff (thruster turn, heavy bottom, forward thrust in the center line) are for durability.

BFE is like fight club, the first rule is you don't talk about it.  The second rule is you don't talk about it.

But like everyone else said, just rebuild the chassis in the bot lab.  If you don't want to rebuild the bot, then copy/paste all the components over and change the component number, which is about 20x easier than modding a chassis shape using BFE.

I don't know why I am still building hovercrafts.  They have painfully slow max speed and their handling stinks once you taken a few hits.  But here's a Tier 3 hovercraft.

Specs
Double layer outer armor
4x hover pad 3Ls with 1x Thruster 3Ls for 43 max speed
6x L2s lasers
8x L1 thrusters for handling.
Top layer uses "light chassis inner" while bottom layer uses "heavy chassis cubes" to maximize weight difference.
Stable, good handling and control, at least until it gets hit.

Initial impression is that they are hell a lot better than yesterday.  Much less ram OHKO tactics at higher tier and lasers are playable again.

Well, I will stay VERY close to this game until they nerf the plasmas because it's plain awesome.
I think there's something wrong with me because apparently I destroy flyers easier than ground vehicles with the plasmas. Not commenting on laser flyers yet because I haven't seen one since the update but plasma flyers are sitting ducks to my L5S plasma... Or more like flying sitting ducks, if it makes any sense...

The recoil of this weapon is gigantic, though.
Ground vehicles are stupid easy to kill with plasma, just drive in at point blank and blast the ground, with something dumb like this.

2 plasma ensures whatever armor it comes into contact with dies.  Armor is useless so it just comes down to whoever can land the first hit.

To me, that vehicle looks so weirdly complex that I don't know what is attached to what and where and how.
I'm not sure about shooting to the ground, because so far I still haven't noticed the so called splash damage when it's an indirect hit. I have to aim dead on to see any damage actually being done.

I think your giant cube like designs would be somewhat effective on avoiding plasma shots.
Actually I learn how to aim now, so I can kill from pretty far, but shotgun kills are just easy if laser tanks tries to charge in.  But it doesn't matter since even if I miss, I can tank a whole bunch of laser hits, and I will still have more chances to OHKO him.  Shooting me down to 1 plasma only makes me more dangerous.

When I got enough RP to cover my bot in thruster L5s, I will.

Hey, of course flyers are op, after all they have a third dimension to move and far more tactical things. But then again they are just hard to build and drive.

Also, you can Stuka the gunpods and hovercrafts. After all planes beat tanks right ?
Hovercraft is basically sh** tier, and is even worst against air than tanks.

Actually hitting enemy flyers with plasma is..... you know that thing goes at an arc and not strait.  How exactly do you hit a moving target at Thruster L5s Speed?

It's funny because the devs made this new gun to nerf flyers by only allowing it to be placed on top of the bot. They might have failed to realize that with the help of ballast cubes you can make an inverted flyer and have the gun pointing down.

If anything plasma will make virtually no difference because Flying Laser Rectangles will still dominate this game.

Plasmas have insane range compared to lasers, so with a bit of target practice you can take them out and stay safely way out of range of their lasers. Plasma flyers on the other hand, is what concerns me.
Look, flyer controls range, they don't need "insane" range to kill a gunbed, they just need..... 2 more meters, like say if they use front mount instead of top mount.

This design for example already slaughter gunbed



And you know what?  They are unplayable because of flying laser rectangles everywhere.  It will be the same for plasma flyers, or plasma anything.  If you have lasers to shoot back they have to back off and dive back in.  If you are plasma they just focus fire on you, and you can't outrun a thruster covered flying black rectangle for obvious reasons.

But then again, it's a welcome change from all the gunbeds...
As if Laser Fliers aren't OP enough at higher Tier.

Hey let's just cover a black rectangle with Laser L5s and Thrusters L5s.  Honestly it doesn't take plasma for wheels/hoverpads to be useless, with hovercrafts being the worst by far.

If anything plasma will make virtually no difference because Flying Laser Rectangles will still dominate this game.

Now that it's greened out, probably not that much of a glass cannon. Although, at ~t6 with only green and orange armor, I can't imagine that it's armor > firepower

The Arrogance is only t5 and it barely survives a fight with a fellow t5 tank, and it's fully greened out with hints of orange

Also, what is up with 'Inner' and 'Cubes'? Component armor vs actual cube armor?
Because how you build it makes a difference.  Having multiple non connected layers means it will take that many hits for a shot to actually hit a vital part. 

"Inner" and "Cube" are two different components.  Inner are the cube with a trimmed corner.  It still comes with 6 connection points, so you can just rotate it to hide the trimmed corner.  A cube weights 5kg while an inner weights 3.35, it makes a difference because this game is actually sensitive to weight and balance.

Now that my hovercraft is mostly orange, I can rebuild my tank in green, and it's even more durable than ever.




Specs
Multi layered barriers for diverting damage around gun blocks and pilot
No Frontal Gun block
Outer and upper layer build with "inner" while lower and inner layer are build with "cubes".  This creates a mass difference that increases handling.
Good crosshair line of sight.

Also is it me or Tier 3 increases your earnings ?

It's not about tier but about the components' level used. Higher tiers logically have bots with better guns, armor and so on. Destroying better equipment gives you more RP than destroying less upgraded stuff.

It's not the kills or base captures that give you the most earnings. It's the amount of cubes you shoot off.
No, Higher Tier increase earning.  I can just base rush and earn 2k at Tier 8 without firing a single shot.
