If Cocytus has 4WD, then that's the scariest bot I've seen in a long time. The only problem I see is that if those ram plates are gone, you're not getting any bots on top of the weapons. It would turn into a pure HS, and a mediocre one at that.
I'm guessing Tidalwave has 8 tribars. It might be worth your while to angle them down a bit, so they act as a wedge like on the Tidalwave in Starcore. That Tidalwave is always a pain when it gets under you.

Holey Swiss Cheese, I can't believe I don't have a stock showcase. Or rather, didn't have one. I've tried several times since coming back to the forums and starting BBEANS to make a good stock bot, without success. Those Starcore 4 bots are mean. Only now have I made one that's any good. Most of the info is in the pic. Frag Beetle 2 is good against popups and rammers, reasonable against HS's, and weak against hammers and VS's, except for ones like Alien Queen and Mome Rath. It's wide enough that it can just rip off those plows without fear of retaliation. I'm considering Frag Beetle 2 for my entry once BBEANS5 comes around (which will be once more of the ongoing tournaments resolve). Better hope your bot has strong side armor! Oh, and those maces are sage's reskinned variety, they have the same stats as stock.

Everything does damage if it's moving fast enough. Even extenders. It just won't be very much (10-20). Also, since extenders aren't weapons, the game will count it as the other bot hurting itself rather than your bot doing damage, and you won't get points.
The red numbers are self-inflicted damage, green is scored damage.
And the numbers do equal the damage you're taking. You can test this by ramming components into the wall in the test garage and adding up all the damage you inflict on yourself. That's how I figured out that the default weapon HP setting is 1000.

I tried using FRAPS on Vista and it was slow and chunky. But then I don't have the most recent version. They have a newer version that's supposed to work on Vista, do you have it?

I think Whamettnuht is planning for the house robot to be human-controlled. That makes it easy for for the house bot to sit patiently until a bot enters the zone. You can also easily change the AI's priority so they ignore human players.

Man, I fight the one bot in the tourney with an exposed top and no wedges, and it crawls up and blocks my weapon Plus my AI didn't always fire its weapon when it had the chance, even with the huge smart zone I gave it. I guess my flail bots work better with human drivers. Looks like I fight Lu-tze next. If I couldn't beat GBBS, I don't have high hopes for Lu-tze, not with that spinner there in the way of the chassis. But maybe if I can out-wedge it and flip it. I don't think Psi could have beaten Steel Meatball anyway, but technically it should have gotten free restarts in round 1 and round 3 (especially round 3). It was clearly flipped by a Havok exlposion from Steel Meatball's flails in both fights.

(10/12) Round 8 is up!
And although "round" 8 only consists of one match, I must say it's one of the best I've seen. The last two fights not so much, but the first fight is a must-see.
Only two more matches to go before the champion is decided. Enfilad3 feels pretty secure in the top spot right now, but either of the remaining two bots is capable of bringing it down. It will be an exciting last two matches, that's for sure.
Also, since I anticipate this question coming: the loser's bracket finalist will need to beat Enfilad3 twice to win, because otherwise Enfilad3 would be getting eliminated with only one loss while everyone else gets two, which is hardly fair.

Pysco Sweeper's Revenge is insane. One obvious thing you can do is replace those two titanium half sheets in the front with one full sheet. The full sheet has a lot more HP than two half sheets, and it's bigger to boot.
The flipper's been done before, but it's done well.

Ah! Ah! Now this is the thread to ask a bunch of questions. Newbie time!
-Why every hammer bot uses Poker rather than Chopper (initial hammer binding?) -What does DirectionalSpinner does exactly? -Why no bot (or at the best few bots) uses OmniRam? And what's the exact difference between Omni and OmniRam? -Is the specialized binding (Spinner, Poker, Flipper) is better than the omni binding for a precise robot type? -Why so many rammers use Pusher? And i've noticed that the "pusher" sometimes rams (back and forth), not continuously pushes after the first blow... -Because Chopper is glitchy. Sometimes, for no apparent reason the AI will just freeze and do nothing (at least this happened when I was AI'ing for DSL). -Spinners stop moving after delivering a hit, to allow time to spin back up. DirectionalSpinner keeps its front facing the opponent. Spinner will attack with its sides and back as well (at least in theory). -Omni will never back off the opponent. It will pin them against the wall if possible. OmniRam uses rammer tactics combined with active weapons. -Depends on the design and how you want it to perform. But in general, no, they're the same. -Pusher uses the same code as Rammer, but has a lower speed threshold at which it will back up for a ram. Pushers will only back up if their speed is 0, while Rammers will back up if it is less than 3 (I think).

I don't think any of the fights involving bots wired with switches would have been different if they were wired with buttons. Mako 4 is too low and fast for Destroyer to grab on to and throw. You can see that in the third round when Destroyer finally gets up to speed. But it would be a good thing to fix for the future, just in case it does end up making a difference. *Glad he's wired Archimandrite's weapon with a button* On the other hand, Archimandrite might actually have won if its weapon spun a bit slower, so it didn't start tumbling right away in every fight. Such is fate.

Right, but for some reason the AI continuously triggers the spin control instead of just activating it once. So if it's a switch, they keep toggling the weapon on/off. But if it's a button, then it goes on/on, and it spins at normal speed.

Interesting matches. Lots of unexpected results. Especially obZen and Daisy Might... though I wouldn't tack up Daisy Might's loss to luck so much as a fatal design flaw. That shell disc needs to be stronger.
Infernal Contraption looks just as good as Hazardous Contraption, contrary to Naryar's worries... Steel Meatball is scary... Pinball is even scarier. Those bots should do well.
It's too late to do anything about it now, but I noticed that several of the bots apparently use switch controls for their spinners (you can tell by the sporadic on-off pattern of the motor sound, rather than a continuous buzz). That doubles the spinup time, so it could be a pretty big deal. Humdrums, Morse Code Breaker, Destroyer, Mako 4, and Shadow all sound like they use switches. Possibly T O R Q U E too, hard to tell. But you might want to fix that for the next round.

Bumping this Rules thread a bit to show off a few more last-minute prize components I whipped up. I also rebalanced the BBEANS Blade, so it is more powerful and less durable (391 DP, 20000 HP). Remember, any four of these prize components are yours to choose from should you win second place, the rumble, or one of the bonus awards. And if you're champion, you also get the sword.

Round 7 is up!
This means we're down to the final four bots. The top 1/8. Regardless of whether any of these bots go any further (and, inevitably, one of them will not) they've all performed exceptionally well to get this far in a field of very tough opponents. Also, any bots that are eliminated at this point are guaranteed a place in the rumble--so it's not over yet, even if you lose!
Also, I apologize for putting "Quarterfinal Match" at the beginning of the loser's bracket fights. It's not the quarterfinals, they're next round. I would fix it, but these match videos aren't editable once converted to .wmv format without losing quality.

I saw the name "Snuggles" and instantly thought "Huggy Bear". Betcha one of Huggy Bear's fights is the video that inspired Somebody.
Bots look pretty good, but Asplode 2 is severely drive-challenged. FYI, using two wheels on one motor doesn't make you any faster.

That's pretty clever, you can easily change a hammer into a flipper.
DSL isn't well suited for ELBITE in my opinion, because a lot of non-weapon components still do a bit of damage. Gigafrost is probably going to have to settle for "no components intended for use as weapons".

It's fine if you want to build unrealistic DSL bots for fun. I've seen plenty. Just don't expect to enter it in any tournaments.
That said, the idea of an invertible shell spinner is pretty cool. There's one bot I've seen do that in real life--Ringmaster in Battlebots.
Also, you should rotate the 5kg teeth 90 degrees so they hit with the sharp side. They won't do any damage with the flat side.

It sounds like you're trying to install the 1.2 patch. RADDPatchv1_20? You would need the game installed first to install the patch, and then you might as well install 1.3.
But it doesn't sound like you even have the unpatched game working, so you might try just copying and pasting the files right off the CD if your computer won't read it. They're not compressed or anything.

Yeah, Firebeetle found out about that weight class a while ago (though in a different way than you; I don't know how he figured it out). If you edit the .bot file and change the Class from 0, 1, or 2 (whatever) to 19658784, then your weight class will be displayed as None. You can even edit some .gib files to change the little icon on the bot select screen (FB made a purple N).
None bots work and everything if you select All Classes in exhibition, but I can't think of a practical use for it. Except maybe distinguishing SHW's in an AI pack.

Firebeetle's music is going to be here - http://beetlebros.gametechmods.com/bbeans/music (uploading updated versions right now) One of these days I'll get around to making a proper page for it.
