Real Robotics Discussion / Re: Guys I found something amazing

Mr. Bonestripper moved long enough to win one match in season 5. Aside from that, nope :P

Also I saw Abbatoir and was like "OMG I finally get to see it fight!"

Guess who was the only bot to never move. Also in the 3.0 rumble, Whyachi was there but it vanished Backlash style before the match started.

Considering Mr. Bonestripper has a 1-7 win/loss record with six losses by forfeit I think the robot's only win can be given to the hypothesis that their opponents forgot to turn their robot on.

Also, looking at pictures of Mr. Bonestripper reminded me that from the Las Vegas 99 event the "team photo" of that robot is AMAZING. Please tell me someone here has it. (It's the mullet guy laying on his side between the two spinners and it is magical.)

I just watched this at work for the first time in like a decade and now my coworkers are asking me why I am laughing so damn hard. I totally forgot about this thing.

Fake Edit: Also, the "Least Worst of RFSHQ" thing was a free e-book I was working on to post on another website several years ago. I instead opted to just port RFSHQ's archives over to TwilightFoundry.com. :P

Hey neat! I've never seen Prompt Critical (Season 1) fight and I always wondered how it worked. The answer is "it doesn't"!

Also Abbatoir never moved in that rumble. Apparently, none of Team Wetware's creations move. Ever.

My bots are actually named "Racecar" and "Racecar Backwards"  :gawe:

Maybe as a grudge match after the tourney, maybe your bots and my Hot Rod could have a free for all. A demolition derby so to speak?

I am absolutely down for this, haha!  :popcorn

Also, I'm sorry, but my middleweight is going to treat this like a cakewalk. Thanks for entering everyone but I'll take my giant nut now.

What, the one with piglets for drive ? Time to enter middleweight then !

The only people who've seen my entries are Badnik, MassimoV, and my roommate. :P I posted Gatorphilia because the robot did not make the cut but I still wanted to share it because I thought it looked neat. I've a few newer bots that I haven't posted just because I'd like to debut them in these tournaments to keep people guessing.

Im pretty excited to see Click's new Sewer Snake esque LW.

Clickbeetle v. RFS ROUND ONE

Let's do this! I can take him!  :gawe: My LW will win this tournament, you'll see. It has the gnarliest weapon ever seen in a tournament. You guys only think I've been "gone" for all these years. I've been watching, learning everything about DSL and biding my time to spring out and destroy everyone.

Also, I'm sorry, but my middleweight is going to treat this like a cakewalk. Thanks for entering everyone but I'll take my giant nut now.

Yeah I've seen the new Thumperizer and it really is nothing to write home about. It might win a match if it gets lucky but other than that...

Truthfully, the same can be said for ALL of the robots entered, even the SHW. The design did not work as great as I had hoped but it just looked too damn cool to throw away so I hope it's a pleasant surprise to the rest of the community.

Take the RFSHQ route and give both subforums their own skin and make one of them the hateful, racist, NSFW spam forum and the other the meme-riddled unfunny chillax zone. It totally worked for us.

Promise.

I wouldn't lie to you. RFSHQ is still online, right?

Here's me about ten years after the original heyday of RA2:

In my defense, this was taken before bronies became the creepiest scum of the ****ing Internet. I have since gotten rid of that T-shirt. I really, really wish I was wearing a different article of clothing in this picture because it's one of the few ones where I don't look like an asshole.

For posterity, here is a picture of me from around the aforementioned "heyday": http://i57.tinypic.com/oabtsg.jpg

What the christ? How the hell does that throwaway joke correspond to "gawe RFSHQ" ?

That's from this page BTW: http://twilightfoundry.com/2004/04/the-crimson-room-collection/

I can't see anything on that page that would link it to the phrase "gawe". Also that's weird that these uploads and pictures were indexed THAT fast. I really should install Google Analytics to find out what the hell is going on under the hood.

edit: Wow, for some reason Google really seems to love associating the Crimson Room screenshots with "RFSHQ", but that's absolutely crazy considering that there's an entire content section named "RFSHQ" that's full of pictures.

I am flattered, but I don't anticipate Thumperizer doing extremely well in the tournament mostly because it's a goofy design and trying to rationalize it and re-interpret it via DSL proved to be pretty difficult. Of course, I wasn't aware of the ant/spin-motor battery bug at the time, but still it's a design that's kinda top-heavy by nature and due to the placement of its wheels the centrifugal force of the spinners constantly works against it. :( I'm a little pissy about changing the design TOO much because in a way it's kind of an iconic robot so I opted to leave it as-is and just do my best, haha.

I don't have the original anymore. The hard drive that contained pretty much all of RFSHQ suffered a mechanical failure and a specialist wanted in excess of $2,000 to fix it so I decided to move on and let it go.

i made a blog post http://infernaltank.blogspot.com/2014/05/motorama-2014-days-2-and-3.html

Pretty intense damage from Mulcher there, wow. D:

I'm pretty tickled that you guys use the  :gawe: face so much here. Do any of you know the story behind that emoticon?
does it come from rfshq or aceuplink?????

It's from RFSHQ. It's original name was ": gawe :" which was short for "goose awesome", with "awesome" being that stupid :D emote with the eyes rolling back to the upper right or whatever. Goose drew a really, REALLY bad version of it on MSN Messenger one night and I ended up tracing over it to vectorize it and use it as an emoticon. The one used here is the same one I traced over almost a decade ago, haha. Another community member, Fuzzoom, made a terrible version of that emote that saw use as the lesser-remembered ":fawe:" face.

Loving the box/screenshot mismatch. Someone's going to be extremely disappointed.

IMO, Diesector's plow and lifter is no different than No Apologies' bizarre welded cage that it used against Son of Whyachi or all those times builders have padded their robots with wood/rubber when fighting a spinner.
