There was a dragstrip arena, where the "winner" self-destructed in a pool of lava at the far end of the track. Wasn't real good for high speed bots, but kinda fun trashing your opponent, then running like

All right, you clowns, knock it off ....... Wham, the moderators here are unusually tolerant for the amount of stuff they have to put up with (especially from people like me, which I won't go into ...), but you are really pushing it here. I'd suggest backing off and cooling it some before they decide to just ban your ass, okay? And don't try using me as an example of "bad behavior" - I was on this forum and the original RA2 site long before you ever showed up, and they already KNOW I'm a pain in the posterior ...... 291

Okay, so Slick Rick and a pretty young thing are sitting in Lover's Lane late at night. Rick's sitting there browsing through a HOT ROD magazine, while the young hardbelly is quietly knitting a scarf. Suddenly, there's a light shined in the window.
"What're you two doing in there?" demands a voice. "Why, nothing, Officer," Rick replies. The officer shines his light back and forth between them. "How old are you, son?" "I'm twenty-two, Officer." The officer shines his light over at the girl, who smiles prettily at him. "And how old is the young lady over there?" Rick calmly checks his watch. "Well, in about another fifteen minutes, she'll be eighteen." 293

If someone says a penny for your thoughts, and you give him your two cents worth, what happened to the other penny?
A duck, a frog, and a skunk walk into a bar. Each orders a drink. The duck pays, because he's got a bill. The frog pays, because he's got a greenback. The skunk can't pay, because he's only got a scent....... 296
Discussion / A question of the morality of people here regarding gameplay.« on: October 19, 2008, 10:49:07 PM »
I see no problem with using cheatbot2 parts. after all, those are parts that came with the original game, as did the AI parts. A good dual VS can be made with a hover engine, one that won't tip over. The magnet ... no real value. The flamethrower can be used to damage, but not kill - a physical blow is needed for the kill - but it can rack up points amazingly fast. The cannon, of course, can be wired anywhere there is an air-powered weapon (like replacing the Boxer's arms with cannons - try it sometime!). All the cheatbot2 and AI parts do is give more options for building.
Glitch exploiting, such as stacking components inside each other to make more densely compact bots, has become the rule rather than the exception. Who can forget such famous glitches as the Nasty Pickle or the Trinity glitch? The DSA (double-strength aluminum) glitch, perhaps one of the easiest glitches for building, is in widespread use - does anyone even know what the original armor selections were? (Plastic, aluminum, titanium, and steel.) Glitches are part of the game ....... they're not going to go away. 297

Modifications / Editing arenas« on: September 02, 2008, 07:35:33 PM »
The best suggestion would be to take an existing arena, such as the clawtop arena, and use notepad++ to modify it. You have to start to learn somewhere, so may as well start at the beginning instead of jumping in near the end and getting all excited/upset because you can't do it. Most of the veterans on here started off exactly where you are, but they had the time and patience to actually sit down and learn what they were doing. It takes time to learn how to modify an arena - I've been around a LOT longer than you have (as in, I was a senior member on the original RA2 forums), and I still haven't got it down yet. But, if you're not willing to be patient and learn, there's not a lot of people who will bother helping you.

Discussion / Posting Quility has taken a dirrastic downturn« on: September 02, 2008, 07:05:15 PM »Quote from: Naryar;14044 Don't try to fool me Mad. You'll be evil when pigs will fly. *looks out my window to watch a formation of A-10 Warthogs flying by overhead to the military base* You have no idea of how evil Madiaba can be, Naryar. I do, because I've worked with him on several projects. Good post, RoboShark. I nominate that Man Manu NOT be made a moderator. Nice BOTM, Sage. How hard does she hit? I may not have been around too much lately, but I've even noticed the decline in posting lately. All the n00bs are making nearly useless posts, and a bunch of the old crowd have disappeared into the shadows. Others just don't have enough time for the game anymore, and have faded into obscurity (yah, me ... case in point). At least there are still a bunch of RA2 diehards hanging out here, so there will be SOME quality postings. As for me, I don't have a chance of being a moderator, and like a few other guys you mentioned, I'd be banning people right and left. |
