I haven't seen this thread for a while. I come back and I see Bonk, Mega Mouse and Beast. My God.
It gets worse, Trevor took more photographs of Meggamouse for me so I improved it! Sorry lads, I'm doing this post on the way to the hospital to see the new nephew so I'll reply later on, possibly tonight or tomorrow. I came across an advert while uploading the image that read, 'love doesn't always mean pleasure, buy our dolls' and you can probably guess what was in the picture... Isn't the internet such a wonderful place?

I haven't seen the wiki yet, does it have anything to do with me on it out of curiosity? Or 123?

If you look at my post last night I mentioned I'm an uncle of 3, soon to be 4... Well Just 4 hours after that post, I became just an uncle of 4 so the RA2 stuff will be slow for a while!

Never noticed this thread otherwise I would have voted. But still... I won a thing! :D Had fun taking part mate, looking forward to doing it again. I've entered 'Son Of Catharsis' into the BB tourney, coincidently teaming up with El Chick who beat me in the Trials. SOC might actually have a fighting chance this time around. Catharsis itself though. Will be back for the next Trials event.

I don't think so, at least it wasn't under that name. The website did mention that the robogames rendition of combots has been stopped and that they owned the arena and promo gear and they were renovating it all.
I discovered the link on the FRA, i know your on there as I sent you a PM. If I find the site again I'll send you the link.

looks sweet so far mate, I'll get the chin/scoop thing sorted for you tomorrow evening.
Badnik, Its being started up again under new organisers but the arena is undergoing a massive rebuild to meet FRA Rules & Terms so they can come to Europe.

Cheers, wish you didnt let me see his face to be honest haha. Will have a look when I'm home.
Don't worry about the skype, apple problem at the moment. There is plenty of waiting time till you can learn, assuming your in this for the long run. Best wait until you complete your Battlebots mod before I teach you the complex stuff otherwise you'll end up making everything again like I did!
I wouldn't mind teaching a few people so they can make a Combots Mod, seeing as its one of the only Robot Fighting Shows still around you can get help and sponsorship from roboteers and the company themselves.

But I'm already an uncle of 3, soon to be 4, in a long term relationship living with my partner and working full time. I have to at least have a hiatus in the future. Yeah sure Kurt, as long as you can keep up and understand the Geordie accent. Because of the complexity of the 3D programs video chat is always going to be best so you can see what I'm doing and I can see what your doing. And it will take a while to teach you everything. Should I charge you? Haha. In all fairness the more complex things get, I think the less people should know of it, and the people who do can make business of it. I understand RA2 is free, but effectively what you'll be doing by teaching other people complex stuff is giving them skills that would be worth thousands of pounds/dollers/eruos/skittles in another game. Once I finish the Mod, I'll select my 'students' carefully, teach them everything that I have learned so they can carry on from where where myself, 123 and the DSL lads have left off. I want to be taught all the arena making crap myself to the DSL lads and pay my thanks. Then teach a select few for the next generation of RA2 mods because frankly all of us have been on this forum since its early days and I'd be surprised if the others arn't feeling as sick and isolated as me with this game. And yush I've been drinking but I know (relatively) what I'm yapping on about. ... EDIT: I'll send you a pm about it tomorrow when I'm sober, What I did was pinched the 'Material' crap from a translucent GMF file and pasted it into my own. Make sure the material count is the same. If you can sort out the TGA skin and everything chin killa's scoop (assuming its the robot with the pratt on the front) then I'll make you the curved sheet scoop thing.

Thanks lads, mind I do use two additional program's and my building style is quite complex. I think I'm the only one who's attempted to compile gmf files that have failed because there's too much detail! My Mod will have a lot of real life robot building components and brand new realistic skins that match every component I've made so when it's released, no-one will need any new components made unless they want a complex replica. I have offered to teach Tommy everything I know. But after sending a pm back to him saying It would be best going through it over an instant messenger with a call option. I guess this put him off but in reality there is a damn lot to teach and if Tommy doesn't want to take the dive then I'm not too sure many others will. Still, I'm not going anywhere for a while so I'm here to give you lads everything you need... Then I'll sod off. As for mods, mods are only as good as the effort and time people out into them. There is much for to be improved other than the components, arenas and UI. Hopefully when this is out, there will be better graphics, new sounds and music and better animation. I have to admit this will probably be the biggest thing since DSL, unless 123 has tweaked the sounds and/or graphics. I do understand he's trying to add more weight classes and stuff so he's definitely getting somewhere. Will there be more people like him, myself, and the DSL crew? We'll have to wait and find out.

Very nice work lads. Never thought Id ever see Ginsu In RA2, massive achievement well done! Sonny, gorgeous Wild Thing, much better than mine I think. Brilliant work. My four recent replicas were lined up together in 3D Studio Max when I was about to export Meggamouse... So I had to take a screenshot.

Beast really looks amazing man! Nice job. I thought Exo-skeleton Beast had a greyer skin.
It is a bit lighter and doesn't have the orangish hue, but It didn't look realistic in the game so I've tweaked it. That seriously might be the best replica I have ever seen. Woah good job Hb
>calls this best replica >gravity >m2 >mfw
Skeleton looks very nice indeed. Are you going to be as detailed as possible and add the bungee cord?
Thanks guys, I think Storm and Bonk are my best so far if I'm honest. I think I've pretty much got them down to a tee. Kurt, I haven't added the bungee cords yet. Because of the angle of the flipper I couldn't work out a way of stopping it from popping out through the bottom of the chassis when the flipper is down. Looks really nice, loving the detail on the insides by the way
Cheers Nat, I wasn't too happy with it to be honest, I've changed it around since I took the picture and it looks a bit better with the gas bottle underneath the flipper hinge. This is going to be one of the most highly anticipated things of recent GTM times. Other than DSL 3 but yeah. Good job HB, everything looks glorious so far.
Other than DSL 3 but yeah.
I agree with Camaro Kid, this has got way more hype than DSL3.
these should be used as some of the replicas in dsl3
Some of the replicas here are being used in DSL3. Check the original post.
Thanks lads, I really appreciate the enthusiasm. The Mod wouldn't be possible without DSL if I'm honest, it's going to be in a similar style as DSL when released so I guess it could be said that the mod is a RW DSL. As Yugtom said if you check the first post, a couple of the robots say in writing alongside their pictures that they will be in DSL. There could be more to come too! Here's another Replica for the pack made through the contact made with the Mouse Team. (Trevor) It's up to you all if you want the ears attached though. And yes the bungee and cylinder are visible when the flipper is open. I hope you will all enjoy knocking the wheels of this. :P This will be replacing the Might Mouse that I have been working on, hope you lads aren't too disappointed about this.

Sumpthing in my opinion was always an attractive robot, mainly for its ruggedness. Rather than the aim to win, you can tell Dig entered to make the show entertaining. It's just a shame he wasn't recognised as much as the Diotoir lads.
The robot itself, had the unique scrappy look which seemed like it came straight out of a movie, and Dig himself had a brilliant personality. If the show returns then it would be great to see him return too, his Jonny Depp/Russell brand/Matthew Lillard style persona when on air I think would reel in a good amount of viewers. He was one of the few people who went onto the show to make it interesting rather than win.
If the show returns it will need more characters like that to come on to make the show better rather than good robots.

Sorry lads, Having a mad dash again. No JD I haven't sorted Matilda out as a working obstacle. This almost crashed the game from being so damn detailed but Ive managed to get it working decently. I hope you like it lads. Its Beast. If anyone says the exoskeleton is wrong because theyve only looked at the pictures on the RW wikia then I'll kick your head in. Don't forget the modern reps I do, are made while having contact and pictures sent in from the teams themselves.

Well done lads, you were right. It's Bonk! And it is now completed, massive thanks again to Team Mute for helping me out with the scale and the textures. Oh right, well I don't really know how it's going to turn out. Thyrus is sorting the teams out but I'm providing the team logos.

Thanks lads! just out of curiousity, will you be doing other house robots or is matilda the only one?
I will be having a bash at the house robots that haven't been made. But for the Mods release I will be making Sgt Bash and Major Damage to make up the house robots that have make an appearance in what is now the Robot Wars live arena. I would have liked to make Goliath but it was made by team Mad for Robots Live, NOT Robot Wars so it is a no go. will Spitfire be AI'd because Spitfire is now a Roaming Robots competitor?
Jaydee, do you not think that you've asked a bit of silly question considering my reply to making DTK in the other page? Yeah, it does look like a totally new game.
If you could change the UI and it's positioning, I'd argue that it was a new game, the same way I'd argue that DSL is a different game to Stock.
That being said, if you -can- get around to it (doubt you can because of the work you're doing here), could you perhaps add some components so people can make their own IRL-looking bots?
If not, perfectly understandable.
Any news on a beta? Everyone's so hyped...
I don't know if I can change the UI, that would be an achievement in itself! I would like to try and upgrade the graphics engine thing to make the game perform better if anything. Yes don't worry I've started making a selection of new weapons such as realistic flippers, wedges, axes, teeth, for people to make realistic robots. They go quite nicely with the DSL parts, I've also improved quite a few of the motors and thrown in a couple of new bursts (such as the the skirt Hinge used to power Iron Awe's flipper if anyone's noticed) I just need to sort out armour panelling and a a selection of realistic weapons for beetle weight and featherweight competitions. Applaud as always my friend.
Just want to ask a couple of questions out of curiosity.
1. Why do you need teams permission if they want their bots in the pack?
2. If you want to get this noticed better shouldn't you or better yet the whole community try and get this promoted on big gaming websites like IGN, Gamespot etc. through any means?
3. Have you asked John Findlay if he can get try and get this featured on the main RW website?
4. How are you sorting out the teams?
5. Are you going to change the the design of the Menus and positioning?
Sorry for the amount of questions, I was born curious.
Born curious? Sounds like the the sort of curious who looks through peoples wardrobes to find a doorway to Narnia. 1. I'm getting Team's permission from those who I want in the pack/from those who have never played the game, like Team Mouse and Beast. Once the teams comply I do have to ask them if they can take photographs of the armour panelling for the mapping, which can be difficult for them but it is something that is needed. 2. When it literally does look like a new game, I'll let someone on here do it. I barely have the time as it is to make the bits and bobs anymore! Mind I'm not top sure if they would be particularly bothered with an updated remote control robot fighting game from 2003! 3. I've already spoken to John Findlay, I thought everyone on the forum knew. That's why I added 'official' in the topic name and revamped the website. We've been talking quite a bit through email and we've just added each other on Facebook so we're getting on well. 4. Sorting out the Teams? How do you mean? Thyrus do you want to answer this one? 5. I would love to but at the moment it's not a priority. This is my latest work, awaiting one last photograph from the team. Anyone know which robot this is? Edit: Guys, I will restate, HB is very busy, please stop asking so many questions. Would you rather he spend ages answering all your questions, or spend that time CREATING the pack you're awaiting? I'm sure most of the things you ask have come across his mind, but equally aren't things you urgently need to know. Just remember.
Yeah it's taken a while! I don't mind the the questions as long as they aren't daft or something that's been asked before... Which usually tend to happen! Spent the majority of my lunch break replying to this! Time for a much needed cigarette. Edit: Just heard back from the Mute team, they're over the moon with the render. They just need to whip their robots out and take one last photo of the top panel.

Cheers mate, I forgot to mention that the wiring needs redoing as DSL 3 kinda mucks it all up.
What will be happening if you don't get as many teams taking part as you initially hoped?

If I was a mod, I would have locked this topic before it got like this.
Craaig, leave JD be... He'll learn on his own accord, regardless of what people advise him to do because he's that sort of person. He'll see your point of view when he gets more experienced with AI-ing and see where he went wrong. Can you please lock to topic because this thread is going no-where, sorry JD but I don't think this thread will do you very well, not until you either become well knowledgable with what you do and provide good points and show experience, or state exactly that your doing a short cut tutorial for the unexperienced. The worst thing you could have done is retaliate the way you did.
But yes, can a mod either lock this topic or delete the damn argument and edit corrections into JD's original post?

Thanks lads, Diotoir is as nutty as always and the RW TV series house robots I'll be doing will most likely be modelled on their original guise, (eg series 1-2) hence why Matilda has the chainsaw. Camaro Kid, ahh right, everyone on this forum is so bonkers about featherweights I thought that was what you were referring to. I was thinking about doing the HW DTK but if I'm honest, I don't really see any purpose for it, especially when I've already done Titan and skinning Dantomkia's shell is an absolute arse. But if it is well sought after then I can always have a crack at it. Anyway, with a massive thanks to Vertigo contributing and taking photographs of his robot, the current UK champion... Eruption now joins the pack. Hopefully I will be able to get the lights working at a later date. Gareth of Dystopia fame has also been in touch and has sent 4 emails worth of pictures for me to work with so expect that soon!
