You can try the generic compatibility fix.
1. Right click Robot Arena 2.exe, click property 2. Click compatibility 3. Check run program in compatibility mode (Window XP SP2) 4. Check run this program as an administrator.
If that doesn't work, it might be a display setting, try disabling full screen manually by 1. Open ra2.cfg with a text editor (notepad ++) 2. Change fullscreen = 0
Or it might be a region and language setting (if you are using some foreign language) 1. Open region and language in control panel 2. Change System Locale 3. Change to English (United States)
Let me know if any of these works.

Just use 1 120cm skirt in the middle for 2 reasons.
1. Using only the center point on skirt hinge improves the wedge 2. Face Spinners benefit more by forcing a wedge lock than trying to actually beat popups at the out-wedge game.

You might have better luck downloading the full version of DSL, since it's just unzip and play. I am running window 7 and that's all I had to do to get it to work.

I would sell my wife and daughter to have the money to preorder it.
You can try your luck on craigslist for $4.99 each?

If they spin at opposite directions, they technically never have to intersect if the hammer doesn't reach the other bar's center point. The 2 motors just have to be geared together in some way.
It will be fairly useless IRL, but knowing DSL-S that might not be an issue.

Basically, the "botlab" rule is, we will not allow anything that cannot be done in the bot lab.
We will never know if you actually used the botlab, but we surely know what can and cannot be done there. Anything deem impossible would need to either provide proof or be rejected. It is as simple as that.
Each tournament also comes with about 15 or more rules on top of that, depending on the host.

Well, if you feel like coming up with rules, feel free to do so. Just that "convincingly look and function like it came out of the bot lab" is literally 1 step away from a fully indestructible bot. Right now a Horizontal Spinner chassis is 1 black battery + 1 blue burst in size, and the bottom is already covered with indestructible casters. Unless of course you want to go the other direction and add more restrictions instead of less.

grinding like a chinese all day erry day
I play to get kills, levels and RP just happens naturally. Only n00bs need to grind. I mean, I have no problem getting multiple kills even when I use only L1 garbage everyone starts with. I never particularly feel the need to "get" anything, but I am probably too addicted to killing in PvP.

An attempt to see just how much armor I can put on a flyer and still fly. Armor is made entirely of tetra and prism to save weight, and despite using white armor atm it can still take quite a bit of beating. Unfortunately but not surprisingly, it is kinna slow and clumsy to operate. It has 10x L5s F.Thrusters.

BFE/AAM/Hax Mode/etc, I am sure some people already uses it to save time (ex. Naryar). It's just something people don't talk about.
By the end of the day, the bot will still have to convincingly look and function like it came out of the bot lab. You can't even say "botlab plausible is okay" because then people will just stack every single motor/battery onto a single point.

however, knowing your exploits in ra2 I wouldn't be surprised if you meant entire robots built from the ground up in a text editor in a way that you couldn't discern them from properly built ones...
You can't tell that something is wrong when nothing breaks after 20 million damage? Anything connected to the chassis cannot break, that's why caster armor works. If you build outside of the bot lab with no restrictions, you can just put a tiny chassis inside a black battery so it can never be hit. Plus you can change chassis armor value up to a million just in case.

Na way too easy to just make indestructible bots outside of bot lab. So it wouldn't be much of a fighting contest.

Clearly you haven't seen all the thrusters on it...
You do know that, even if you add a bajillion thrusters or the bestest wheel if you have 1 l1 wheel the entire tank will only go as fast as that wheel allows, right?
Not entirely true. The wheels will attempt to break when it hits it's max speed, pushing back on whatever is trying to push forward. You can overwhelm this breaking with enough forward thrust. Say if you have 20 L5s on 4 L1 wheels, it will go faster than 4 L1 wheels. Of course, what Naryars has there is nowhere near enough to do anything. Also thrusters themselves have max speed, so having a lot of small thrusters doesn't add much to speed.

>fast tank >L1 tires
sure
I know right? That might possibly be the slowest tank in existence. Also, since you didn't buy any worthwhile wheels anyway, you might want to go back to using hovercraft. Tank used to be 10x better, but then plasma happened. And OHKO by ground explosion is annoying as hell. At least with hovercraft they actually have to hit you.

After countless attempts, I finally made a good hovercraft Specs: Ultra lightweight tetra armor, double layered at bottom and front. Can tank massive amounts of laser hits, can tank up to 4 plasma blasts from the front. All vital components are connected with a black inner frame. 7x Hoverblade L5s with 3x L5s F.Thruster and 1x L5s R.Thruster for quick acceleration in both directions. Heavy cube bottom layer to eliminate rocking All guns can point up to fight against laser flyers 22x L1s thruster for steering, so it can turn until the bitter end. Super slim frontal profile High pilot seat for good line of sight Fake windows as decoy to help against pilot sniping Out-shot every laser gunbed I have encountered when forward facing.

It drives adequately. Symmetry? I don't see why waste the effort.
Why so much symmetry in your newer bots? DON"T TAKE THE EASY WAY OUT MAN!!!

You can use a hotkey program such as "autohotkey" to remap your keyboard.

Here is a cheap and affordable T1 laser flyer that gets you easy kills, most of these components you already have at the start of the game, so you just have to buy some L2s thrusters. It has decent speed and stupidly easy handling, and float if you let go of your control. You may of course replace orange armor with green or white.

My first combat oriented flyer.
Edit: Flying is like 20x easier than driving a stupid hovercraft. Just fly all the way up to the ceiling, move around, and follow the radar. Most flyers can't even shoot up so if you start above them you can just float, point, and click. Anyone who thinks flying requires skill just have a bad flying machine.
