I dont know if it would work, but something like that at the moment would be out of my abilities :P
And I am trying to look into the pit - there's a few different values in the Hazards file for the pit so guess I'll just have to have a play around with them lol :P 283

I hate to double post, but I feel that this deserves its own:
![]() Did someone order a flip around? Not a lot of tell. The flame pit needs to be moved and the flames themselves need their coordinates moved, aswell as the avoidance lines for the hazards. But, they're rather easy things compared to the ammount of head f***ery that went into flipping this around (the ammount of vertexes and such that needed changing... wow) Anyway, probably the most sought after change for this arena has now happened. All the rest is just detail :P 285

Yep, was able to lower the walls:
![]() The ones on the left are the height of the original, and the ones on the right are the new ones (they're all the same size now before you start asking if they're even to each other lol). It's not a massive change, maybe about fifth smaller, however from testing it has made a massive difference! One other small update i've done aswell which I find pretty crucial is the 'drop zone'... zone :P ![]() The orignal zone (as depicted by the red) used to be the same size as the black area. Now, just briefly driving through the drop zone area won't set it off - you will need to be smack bang in the middle of it to activate it. A small thing that I think has made a massive difference. And if you was to read my post, you would see that I am planning to :P 286

Thanks guys :)
No, no luck yet with the speed of the pit. It's something I'd desperately love to do. And GF, did I say it was done yet? ![]() One other thing I forgot to mention that I'd LOVE to do is CPZs. I'm thinking what if it was possible to put some coding in the .py that uses 4 zones in the corners of the arena (zones like the ones used for the drop zone and floor flipper) that tells bots 3 and 4 where to go. So that once bot 1 or 2 enters one of these zones, it tells bot 3 or 4 (the closest one) to go to that zone and attack whatevers in there. Then when the robot leaves the zone, the 'house robot' goes back to a hibernation tactic (untill a robot enters a zone again). So bots 1 & 2 would be the ones in the normal start positions doing the fighting, whilst bots 3 & 4 would start in their own CPZ and not attack untill 1 or 2 enters their zones. I think it could be possible by one of the more advanced coders, and something that could maybe be done in a future update of the AI pack. Also, quick question - would a tournament suit some people? I have an idea for a small ED style tournament for people to get their robots into both the arena early, and (if they didn't mind) the AI pack itself. Entries would be in the style of the bots in ED (2 moving weapons max, 6 static weapons max, built within a ready made chassis, ect.) and would feature maybe 4 replica 'bye' bots for added fun. Any interest? If there is then I'll go ahead with it :P 287

Hey guys,
Sorry development has slowed down lately, but life has started to put me on the fast lane again meaning things have been kinda heptic. However, I have been able to play around with the original Robot Wars arena to try and give it a much needed facelift: ![]() Where to start... -Textures are Resetti's ones but altered -Pit tyre is now yellow without changing anything else (Now has it's own texture) -Instead of a massive, heavy, pixelly fridge, it's now a washing machine -Pit cover's end point is now higher to make it more realistic -Pit lining now has a texture (Who would of thought that all along all you had to do was add a texture to the black area on the fridge texture? :P) -Start positions are similar to those in ED -Now has the pit siren -Pit and flipper covers are now all the chevron, with an even border outside I feel that it's already a much more dramatic improvement to the original, however what I want to accomplish is still not done: -Flip the pit and floor flipper on the X axis (to their correct positions) -Make the pit and floor flipper more oblong rather than square, and maybe shrink them a bit -And with the help of one of the advanced .py'ers, make the flame on the flame grid similar to the inferno particle effect as seen in the Black Hole Space Station arena. Anyway, here's what I have so far. Once this has been finished I'm hoping to create an Antweight version aswell. Thoughts? Opinions? :P -Wham 288

The one on the custom component tutorial on the wiki doesn't work, can anyone link me to that version of the plugin? :3 290
General Support / 3DS Max Help« on: May 04, 2013, 11:53:37 AM »
Hey Guys,
I recently got my hands on 3DS Max 8, and all seems ok, other than one thing - When I start up 3DSMax, it says that the GaberielMax.dlu failed to initialize, the specified procedure could not be found. Any reason why it's doing this? Thanks for any help! :) 291

It's not even finished yet - how I can even give you a link? =_=
Sidenote - I've managed to get the torrented 3ds Max 8, but whenever I try to install it, it says that I need to close moniter.exe (I assume that's a pretty important function :P) Any help? :S EDIT: Sorted the monitor problem out, but now I get an error message =,= 295

Good question! :) I'm quite proud of all of them, but I'd maybe say my favourite at the moment is Plunderbird 5 as it's completely from scratch, whereas the others are all modified DSL components lol :P

Kai - Please post that kind of stuff elsewhere.
And as for those asking for a beta, ect., i've been thinking today that as soon as I have 13 AI Teams done and the UI is finished then I can release a v1.0. Then that leave room for the future versions to have new arenas, added teams, ect. So everyone please stop asking for a beta, as once I have 13 AI Teams done and a finished UI, or untill Click releases the full DSL 3.0, yo ain't gettin anythang ![]() 300

I'm ok thanks :)
And certainly GF :P ![]() (Still LOLing at the fact that the Razer replica can beat a lot of the other replicas, but still can't beat Pussycat :') ) Just wondering if you guys could link me up with a version of 3DS Max? A lot of replicas that I want to do will require a few custom meshes as opposed to editing pre-available GMFs. I've tried the whole Milkshape ASE to GMF manual convertion many a time, however it just doesn't appear to work (No Collisions, Crashes when clicking attach, ect.) Thanks guys! :) |
