When you say the site went down do you mean the server stopped responding or that you kept seeing error pages?
This section allows you to view all posts made by this member. Note that you can only see posts made in areas you currently have access to. 281

Just an update, Dreamhost thinks they found the issue on their end and that it is fixed now.
Let me know if you run into any more issues. 283

As I said in the chatbox, things aren't fixed yet but I'm making progress and I promise to get things working ASAP.
Just to make things clear, I do not believe GTM was hacked. I believe the issue lies in something Dreamhost did and I'm currently working with them to resolve these issues. 284

I'm going to be taking down the site again for maintenance in roughly 40 minutes.

Welcome back.
Interesting bot. You could make it more durable by using more baseplate anchors, though. As it stands, you can lose an entire left or right side from a single well placed hit. You could also move the baseplate anchors attaching the drive to the back of the bot to eliminate the need for the 20cm extenders. 286
Modifications / Re: DSL 2.12/ DSL 2.1 AI/minor fixes« on: June 14, 2014, 08:33:51 PM »
Not to be rude but please ask before adding other members' mods. I don't mind you using the arena randomizer or original action cam but my concern is that some members may not appreciate the use of their work without their consent (venko for example didn't like tournament hosts putting his bots in AI packs).

Guest Section / Re: components not attaching« on: June 07, 2014, 08:04:02 PM »
I'm really sorry that I have to say this but could you please post your question in the DSL Technical Support section. Very few of GTM's members can see this section when they are logged in and they have no way of answering you.
This section is for solving account related issues. 289

Make sure you are saving the bitmap in 24 bit mode. I'm not sure about Paint.NET but I know Gimp likes to save things in 32 bit mode.

DSL TC Showcases / Re: my replica list« on: June 03, 2014, 10:02:29 PM »
This thread isn't exactly off topic... I'm gonna move it to the DSL Showcase section. From there it will either be merged with your showcase or moved to the Custom Showcase section (depending on whether you plan to use custom components).

General Support / Re: Agressive AI« on: May 15, 2014, 03:58:58 PM »
By commenting out that line, the AI doesn't add 3 units to the distance of all the other AI bots (making human-controlled bots seem closer and more favorable as targets).

Actually, its more likely that they didn't mess with anything. Stock does this as well.
If you would like to fix it, you can open up your AI/__init__.py file and replace the following line Code: (Line 252) [Select] if not plus.isHuman(enemy): weighted_dist += 3 #currently favors human player withCode: (Line 252) [Select] #if not plus.isHuman(enemy): weighted_dist += 3 #currently favors human player

That's cool. The more positive publicity that RA2 gets, the more likely that we'll get new members and modders.

Site News and Feedback / Changes to the Rules« on: May 12, 2014, 08:23:17 PM »
In an attempt to promote a healthier community, the rules regarding bumps have been revised to allow "thank you" posts in inactive topics as long as it isn't meant as a form of spam.
Quote from: Revised Bump Rule Bumping - Although, there is no predefined length of time that constitutes a bump, the general rule of thumb is that the longer the thread has sat dormant, the less likely that you should be posting in it (unless of course you are adding something important, legitimately saying thank you, or doing something that was asked for by the original post). 296
Discussion / Re: a pack request (jaydee's pack)« on: May 11, 2014, 07:38:51 PM »Trov, I am willing to make robots such as Dead Metal, Sgt Bash & Shunt but to be honest, I cant skin for the life of me so I would have to make a set of components grouped by texture and then cobble then together in RA2. from then on I dont think its possible export an entire bot including the attached components as a GMF. What I can do however, if it helps silence the question that people have been asking for the past twelve years, I can make each entire robot unskinned and pass the files onto you for skinning and exporting?GMF housebots do not require chassis skinning but it would probably be nice if the components were skinned (however, I guess skinning could wait for future updates). That said, I do not want to assemble or skin the bots inside of the Arena.gmf (even if the .BOT file was made first). Its a relatively time consuming task and I just don't have enough time to do it. I can show you how to convert the bot into a GMF and skin it but that is really as far as I'm willing to go with the conversion process. The only thing that I'm really offering to do is all of the programming for getting the housebots to behave like the originals (which in and of itself is a time consuming task). 297
Site News and Feedback / Staff Changes« on: May 10, 2014, 12:50:33 AM »
In response to the influx of new members that we've gotten lately, the staff has decided to promote a couple of GTM's members.
The first of whom is Craaig. He has done a fabulous job of managing the Tournaments section and promoting positive activity across all sections of GTM. As a Global Moderator, he'll be capable of doing more to help GTM run smoothly. That said, he will continue being the primary caretaker for the Tournaments section. Joining Craaig as a Global Moderator will be Thyrus. On many occasions, he has gone out of his way to help make GTM more enjoyable. I, for one, have received tons of input from him and I know other members of the staff have as well. Since I probably don't say this enough, I'll say it here. I love getting input from you guys. If you think a staff member is doing a good/bad job send me a PM. If you think someone deserves a certain title (Global Moderator, Veteran, etc), send me a PM. My only conditions are that: (1) you can't nominate yourself, (2) I have final say on the action that I take, and (3) you must try to be level-headed. I, and the rest of the staff, are constantly on the lookout for members that help to make GTM a better place and stay out of trouble. For this reason, giving us input and leading-by-example are great ways of getting yourself noticed. Edit: I'll change the text on their titles some other time... 298
Discussion / Re: Help with music« on: May 09, 2014, 02:58:42 PM »
As far as in-game solutions go, you can either mod your Arenas/__init__.py or have a custom component that plays a song. As Craaig said, the easiest way of doing it is to mute the in-game stuff that you don't want to hear and start an external music player. If you have music installed on your computer, you can start XBOX Music or some other music application on windows 8 by htting Windows+S and typing in "Music" or whatever program you want to start. If you don't have any music, you can open up an online service like GTM Radio, Pandora, Jango, Spotify, or Grooveshark.
