I would be interested in joining this... but i have a few questions.

-What if you put the target on the bot exposed but in a place that can't be hit by the opposing bot? like what if you attached it horizontally on the back of the bot like a tail? it would be too low to reach i think.

-So, the bot cannot have any part built on it that would always stretch over the wall. But all weapons can be put on burst motors so that they return back to the bot when done? How is this rule enforced?  If a bots weapon extends to the other side of the wall but does not contract, is that a DQ?  What if a bot is hit really hard and somehow flips over to the other side of the wall... is that a DQ as well?  I am thinking that balance might be really tricky with this.  If you make a bot that has a huge weapon to swing over, it might cause it to be a tad unpredictable and misbalanced.

-Would it be possible for you to make two bots and record an example match for us to watch?  That would be cool.

Great idea! I think it needs some clarification and exactness to the building rules, but it could be a blast to participate in!

Here is my bot... It is a flipper... it will lose to just about anything with a weapon.  I originally made it because it was fun to use in tournaments and I would just flip bots all over the place and send them into hazards.  I highly doubt it will beat anything in this tourney unless hazards are on my side.  Hahah.
Screenshot of fail:

Ballasts... empty space... fixed weapons on mounting points... so much fail.

Haha! I have a few of my first bots. I would like to join this tourney. If you let me join, I will submit "Blue Thunder".  It is a pretty cool looking flipper bot...

But, it is a flipper bot.  It won't do much damage at all. heh.

That's a bush katydid!  They're usually really hard to find because they hide in trees and bushes, where they look like just another leaf.

Really nice picture, do you have experience with macro photography?

My digital camera has two macro settings on it and I use them often with insect photography.  I guess that has given me some experience.  I could do wonders with a Canon Rebel, but I can't afford one.

@spyguy:  Wow that is a ton of stuff to look at! Awesome!

They look easy to duplicate (with a bit of trial and error) but that doesn't come with the prestige of getting into the position to actually earn it.

pft... who cares about prizes really? I want honor and prestige! (not going to get it though)

Might have to backout on this one, moving to college I seemed to lose my RA2 cd.

You have built a lot of stuff... Do you have a couple of middleweights that you think might work well together?  Would be a shame to lose a builder of your calibur in the tourney.

I was out doing some work in the yard today... mowing the lawn, cutting down weeds and bamboo, and various other tasks.  I noticed this little guy on a flower and he seemed totally content with me taking a few pics.

So what qualifies as "controlled movement" when it comes to a crawler anyways?  That silly thing looks like its running on Tequila.

Click will need a vacation... It is incredible how many matches he had to tape for this tourney as it is!  Wow.

Edit: Holy crap... I guess i was not paying attention, but I just noticed S13's AI trick.  I am curious though, if you don't mind explaining.  Is the AI programmed to figure out the best place to put the wedges after the first round? or does it make that decision on the fly?  I noticed that it started with far wedges at first and then after that it brought the wedges closer.

If S13 wins... it totally makes a strong point that we could build much better tourney bots if we learn more about tweaking the AI for smarter attacks.  Probably old news to most of you, but this didn't really occur to me until now.

Sega Dreamcast + 3 controllers & appx 100 games (most of them burned copies from a friend, and an NES emulator with appx 100 games on that too)

PS2 + 2 controllers & appx 40 games

Gamecube + 1 good controller (damn they break easy) and appx 20 games

Xbox 360 + 1 controller & 5 games

Nintendo 64 + 3 controllers & 10 games (mostly Pokemon)

Kensington Onestation Portable & 5 game catridges with 99 games each of the NES era emulated and a couple oddities that i have no idea what system they are from.

in my closet I have a N64, Genesis, NES, and a Dreamcast that i have no idea if they work, picked them up at a yard sale.

I sold my Turbo Grafix 16 because it sucked... and I sold my Sega CD which I regret.  Sewer Shark, Rise of the Dragon, and Stellar Fire were awesome games... and that Night (something) game too.  The one where you have to protect a house full of teenage chicks from zombies by setting off traps at the right time. Good Times Good Times.

Mind if I join in this? If you would like Robo and Acams instead, i can pass for them. They are better builders than I.

how are tattoos and piercings bodily harm?

um... tatoos and piercings are a controlled bodily harm I guess?  To some... they can be quite painful.  My naval piercing wasn't very painful... but it took damn forever to heal.  I will never forget the odd "squick!" noise the needle made when it went through the skin. That was kinda gross.

Why be afraid of something that is entirely out of your control? If it happens, it happens, your fear will neither save you or prevent the situation, so just enjoy each day you awaken to as if it were your last.

Most ICSMs can be detected upon launch.  And there are security measures in place to intercept the missles before they reach land.  This is mostly why the United Nations likes to keep tabs on nuclear warheads and why secret warheads are frowned upon.  Nuclear attack prevention has come a long way since the days of "dropping" a bomb on another country with a bullet-riddled prop plane.

Nothing much here... Broke two ribs last year playing backyard football.
I do want more tatoos and piercings though.
