At least the blade barrier clone has hammer protection. Though I'm not sure how worthy is hammer protection, really, considering the rarity of hammers.
What, the ripoffs of the ripoffs you showcased? 
Top protection is always handy for those gyroing spinners who always manage to smash your chassis in the precise spot to OHKO you.
I do believe Blade Barrier and that Black Storm v3 (or whatever the hell it is named) were NOT ripoffs, actually.
Blade barrier was just a ripoff of Ounce's trapper, wasn't it? And that shell spinner is the bog standard shell spinner design that Urjak came up with :)
it's not a bog-standard since it has a static spinner to take advantage of spikeball mode (which is admittedly cheap and kinda crawler-gay) but i don't even remember if i ripped them off, it's been such a long while and i am drunk :O

even with a nuclear barrel it wouldn't be accurate because of nuclear barrels being cylinders and not cylindrical pyramids (or whatever the hell this figure is called)
modding nuclear barrels would be ok, thought as the front is not straight it will be difficult... i believe a special component should be made for this very replica, so you can use 2 (1 on each side) and have a simple polygonal chassis.

Oh yes we will criticize your builds... but it's so you improve and you get better over time, and then become a good builder.
Criticism is GOOD for you because it allows you to look at your builds with a more critical eye.
Please do not take that badly, but do not expect to be immune to criticism simply because you are new, as well.
also make your extender work the lightest possible while keeping decent extender HP. <= very important.

Let's rephrase that argument then.
If people can enter IRL bots into DSL-S voting contests, then there's no reason you and I can't enter DSL-S bots into IRL voting contests as well. And i'm pretty sure people will be unhappy if this happens.
I am totally OK with contests that allow both IRL bots and Standard bots (considering it is voting instead of battling), but then it shouldn't be marked as a DSL standard contest, but as a "any building style allowed" contest.
