Hi, would you allow me to submit a team of toys with no battle capability? So far I only have 2 (warhead and turkey), but I do intend to make a few more later on.

Does it happen with every bot you use?
It doesn't sound like the standard installation problem. If possible please post the detailed error message by clicking on the view error button.

Ram Plates are really bad with 2400 hp. Replace them with something else if you can. Try large ski, they are also 20 pounds and provide 8000 HP. They look like they will fit really well in this particular case (you can even drop the extenders too). name = Ram Plate preview = ramplate_preview.bmp dir = ram_plate model = ramplate1.gmf type = extras base = Component styles = Default description = Generic metal plate, useful for a ram, shield, or other device. Hitpoints are 8000. styles = Ramplate, ramplate2.txt, Extra Wide, UM_kevplate.txt, Titanium sheet, UM_kevplate2.txt, HalfSheet damagesounds = sounds\ramplate_hit.wav hitpoints = 2400 fracture = 40 material = metal(.4) attachsound = sounds\cmp_generic.wav standard = 1 mass = 20 Sort = -95

Thanks for the compliment. I must admit that finding the right way to improve some of the normal weapons would not be easy. As of right now things like battle axe are virtually unseen from serious players, so something needs to be done about them or they might as well not exist at all. Something good enough to worth the effort to use them, but not so much that they will become vastly overpowered. It also varies from weapon to weapon, as things like DSL bars clearly don't need to be improved as they double as extenders.
Now that I thought about it, for v3 it's probably better doing all the strait forward fixes first, like HP for ramplates and motors. The other, more complicated fixes should be left for future patches.

I think all chassis armor should come with 60hp/kg. As of right now half of the armors are simply on the "do not use" list, there are really no in game reasons for that. (In real life at least titanium is expensive)
Personally I would also see weapon with normals get amp up a bit. A higher hp*dp is needed to justify the fact that they only deal damage some of the time.

How does it fair with 5 mm plastic and better wheels? NPC without at least vlad wheel seems like such a waste of motor power.

Voting will be based on MOST ORIGINAL DESIGN So it doesn't have to be combat effective then?

I have a question. instead of simply changing from one default tactic to the next, is it possible to change from 1 py to the next after all weapon breaks. For example, suppose I want to start with omni, after all my front weapon breaks, I want to change to FBS_1, how would I approach this problem?

What armor is that?
If it's default armor by any chance, change it. Even 1mm plastic give more health than default armor on DSL.

I loaded the 1.3 patch. Now the game sound and picture breaks up within a few seconds of loading. It minimizes and won't play. Task manager says it is still there (no "not responding" comment). Anything I can try? Did you install 1.3 before or after DSL? 1.3 needs to be installed before applying the DSL patch. Edit: I might have misread your question, do you even have DSL at all or did you only apply 1.3 to the original and it stops working?

Sometimes I have ideas I want to build, other times I scroll around at components for new ideas. On occasion I might do some sketches to see how it will function, but for the most part it's trial and error in the bot lab, and test runs. It's probably why my bot tend to evolve a lot.
Problems I tend to run into are usually those involving the physics engines, when I try to build with too much movable parts.
The only bot I really sat down and thought about how to build it in detail was warhead. Though a lot of stuff got changed around during the building process anyway.

If you want to mix it's better that you post it in the "custom component showcase". Due to balance issues, DSL showcase is intended for bots with dsl components only. After all, since custom part can have any properties, we can't really say much about your bot aside from aesthetic.

No, not really, for WMM limits the video down to 25 FPS soo yeah. I will give it A try though, But 60 fps just looks smoother to my eyes than 30 fps I don't know the biology and science behind all this, but from personal experience I have to agree that 60 fps videos looks smoother than 30 fps. I don't think it's placebo since I didn't even know what 60 fps meant when I first watched it.

Okay I made a warhead prototype. It looks pretty good but it's absolutely horrible at fighting. I will see if I can do anything about it's fighting capability. If not I guess I would submit the prototype just to participate.
Thanks for letting me enter with warhead btw.

Except for the obvious fact that you "cant" even make connection like that in the game. So it's either modified walker system that uses only 1 motor connection, or ditch it entirely and use wheels.
Then again, it's probably better for me not to enter this tourney seeing it's a lose lose situation. I guess I take my steps out while I am ahead.

since the game doesn't allow multiple links, I have to modify it and use only 2 servos. It sorta moves, but it's not very stable. I might have to replace it with wheels or something if I actually intend to fight with it.

bah that sucks. I do the silly walker then. Edit: Actually nevermind I can't figure out how it even move with 6 legs. Would be easier if it's 4 legs. Let me see if there's something else I can do. Can you tell me if this one is done before? http://www.robotcombat.com/images/bblv00-large/gammatron.JPG

Can I do Warhead? Or has that been done already? Though I am still not sure how to make it look like warhead with the parts available. Alternatively I wanted to do this http://www.robotcombat.com/images/bbsf02/large/phalanx.jpgBut I don't got a clue as to what it even does. I just chose it by it's look.

You can see most of your old part by entering "cheatbot2" as your bot name and press enter. Although as you can probably guess this is consider cheating.

As far as AI goes, You don't need to write AI yourself as there are many preexisting AI script in the game. However you do need to know how to import your bot into the AI. There's a basic guide here. (It's the same procedure with or without Starcore V3) https://gametechmods.com/?do=Guide_to_AIing You would have to know how to import AI yourself because 1. Team number varies depending on your ai pack 2. AI varies depending on your bot 3. Since your bot have custom components, most people wouldn't be able to open it to do the necessary modifications. If you want your bot in a new team, you would need to make a new folder for it along with editing "teams.txt". Stick with the replacement method if you can't figure out how that works.
