so that goes under wedges? It fares well in most of the tests that I have run for them. My copy of Starcore 3 screwed up so I wasn't able to test the pair against decent competitors on that level. I think alot of the success of this pair going to depend on luck and the AI responses. The other thing that occurred to me is that Insult to Injury was a very heavy bot... and perhaps that is a good reason why it had such good success getting under wedges. These two MiddleWeights may not fare as well though... I guess we shall see. Here is a splash of my Doomed Bots entry: I built Guybrush about 2 years ago. It has a nice balance to it. Obvious flaws are: Too much empty space... not enough weapons... poor choice of wheels. I probably will make a new version of this bot because it has always been one of my favorite designs. Mainly, I like the srimech on the bot (HpZ motors swing upward to flip the bot over). It also seems to do well against popups because the bot is long, and I think it trips off smartzones quicker protecting the chassis better. I am not entirely sure about that though. Building a newer/better version of Guybrush will probably be my next goal.

Joe, I might suggest that Jousters put some smooth, slippery (non-grippy) component on the side that will rub up against the wall... Tires and such should be inside the chassis or armor, and not touch the wall. This is a cool Tourney, so Trov and I are working on an AI.py that will reduce dependence upon the wall almost totally (special thanks also to Apanx for his input). After RAW2 arena is done we'll finish it. . Thanks for all your hard work Mad! This tourney has been a learning experience for sure. I think a lot of us would have fared better if we had tested our bots properly in some fashion to find out the bugs. I basically built mine based on the rules and the pictures, but if i had tested mine against a wall of some sort i probably would have designed it a bit different. Thanks to Trov and Apanx too. You guys are in the background making this all a reality. Props to you.

Here is my entry. Suckerpunch! It orignally did not have a skin at all because it sucked so bad I didn't bother. I asked Reier if I could skin the bot to make it a bit more amusing. While, it is fun to watch it fight... it can't beat Emergency or Coal Miner. The razors break off waaaay too easily & the wheels get lobbed off pretty quickly in battles.

Thanks Kill343! I appreciate the compliment. I agree, it would be great to position the plows further back. I tried quite a bit to accomplish this, but I had hit the extender limit on that portion and could not get a good enough combo to keep them straight, and level with the wedges and wheels. The bottom of the bot is very flat on all points for maximum ground hugging... I tend to to this with a lot of my bots. Here is my RAW2 multibot entry: Beavis and Butthead: Obvious heavy inspiration from Insult to Injury's uncanny success in BBEANS. I wanted my team to be able to thwart attacks from popups and also refrain from doing damage to each other. Oddly enough, after a bunch of testing, Insult's general design seemed like a good idea to go with. My only gripe with these bots is that their drive setup is rather slow. I should have spent more time trying to cram better drive motors in there, but i rushed to meet the RAW2 deadline. I might re-work these two and make them more effective... I should find a way to shrink the chassis some more and give them a more powerful/faster drive setup. Of course, if they totally fail in the tournament... I might just ditch the idea altogether.

Thanks for your feedback on Sir Robin the Brave. Heh, Sage... you should know me better than that! I usually fill up to the max weight on my bots, I just didn't for the joust bot because it is a fun tournament and I didn't really want to invest a ton of time into it. I guess the best way to proceed with my showcase is to show current stuff that represents my building now. Though, I do want to showcase some of my favorite bots that I have built over the years. Tronbot: Ineffective hammer. I had built it with irons at first, it did more damage, but I did not like how it looked. I was trying to use a unique chassis and origami all the components together for "wow" factor in the splash. Got one vote (thanks S32!). haha Kill Rave: I am insanely shocked how good the bots were in the Robot Design contest this time around. I put about 4 solid hours of time into stacking the board in the battery just right. Took about another 4 hours to build the bot after that. I am soooooo looking forward to the next contest though. I want to step up my game and try to win! Kill Rave is very effective in combat and holds up well against a good amount of Starcore 3 bots. The lower tribar clips bots nicely to trim away wedges or knock them off balance to send them upwards. The most amusing part is that half of the bot is built off of one T connector in the very center between the plows. If that T connector gets damaged enough... most of the bot falls off and it is a sitting duck. I also somehow managed to mount a baseplate anchor 1/2 inside another one... it gave me an extra mounting point to fill up the weight of the bot and add the horizontal HPz.

Not only do I love to eat tofu... but one of my first effective bots was named "Tofu Delivery" (a reference to the anime Initial D)
Video: Wow, dang... that video is old.
Excellent bot! I agree with PWN too :P

It is about time I started a showcase... I guess I will start things off with my Jousting Bot submission for KOK. I aimed for super-fast and stable. The rear plow keeps the bot pinned to the ground. Sir Robin the Brave: Feedback is fine... though I will not change anything at this point because it is already submitted and AIed for the tourney. But thanks for any comments!

#1 gets my vote. A lot of effort went into that build.
I really like #2 as well... great job!

I vote for #5 Tidy little package with two blacks... it better have a control board in there though!
analysis:
#1 is cool... but it is underweight, underpowered, and easy to build. Innovative? yeah... Took as much time to build as the others? I dunno.
#2 Namefail. Splash is boring. Design is nice... I am not a fan of mismatched motors though.
#3 Nice Splash... too much defense... not enough weapons.
#4 Stacked Blacks win. Looks like a pretty mean machine. I wish the extenders were blade protected though.

I think the best part of the fun with this tourney is that 95% of us have the bots already built, so it is easy to enter and relax (rather than make time to build a new competitor, which can be really time consuming depending on how hard you work on it)
Oh, and the other thing is that 95% of us don't really care who wins. It is all for fun.

Ok, It looks like noob warz season 2 is getting geared up with registration. I have 5 Heavy weight noob bots in my archives that were constructed before I joined the old RA2 forums way back. All of them fail pretty bad. I didn't bother to put the weights in the splash because it does not matter anyways. Two of the bots never got skins either because they were so bad. Please leave a comment vote for which one you would like to see entered in noob warz 2! You, the members of the RA2 community, get to determine my fate in the tourney. I figured since the battles are all for giggles... why not let you guys choose my bot eh? Bot 1 My first ever Heavyweight! A crude sit and spinner. Didn't we all think battle axes were awesome and powerful because they were so big? Bot 2 My first replica. Deadblow! Hammer bot. pretty lame paint job for a replica. Decent movement, crazy fun and challenging to play though! Bot 3 Horrific is Horrific... the weapons touch the ground... it is unstable. Looks nasty... drives nasty. Experimental fail! Bot 4 Spincrud is actually a decent fighter... a tad slow... gets stuck alot. Bot 5 Suckerpunch is my favorite experimental bot that I first made. When it lands a blow, it actually hits pretty hard. The drive motors move the disk along with the HPZ for extra power. Hard to control though... I think the AI would get wonky with it. Please vote for a bot. Have fun. Discuss. Bash me with noob taunts... go wild!
