Off-Topic Discussion / Re: The General Chatter Thread.

If you say that the Wii was a good console you have something wrong with you. I assumed that it made a loss because if you want to put a half-decent hardware in your console, you have to make a loss on the console.

Actually no, I'm perfectly healthy, but thanks for the totally unnecessary insult. Assumptions get you nowhere. The Wii was a great business move by Nintendo as it was more affordable than it's competitors and was more family friendly. There are many more families than there are 1337 HXC GAM3RZ like you. I like the other consoles too, I'm not biased, it's just kids like you who think that SPECS = ERRYFIN' AND GMAEZ MUZT B REELISTIC N BLOOD that really **** me off.
Specs aren't everything, but when your specs are so poor that game devs don't even bother to develop for your console, you have a problem. On top of that, the wiimote was so insufferably bad that the only game that I ever played that worked with the wiimote is SSBB, and that ignored motion control. And it was still 10x better to use the classic controller.

>Game Devs don't bother to develop
>At least 1000 games (I think the last thing I saw listed said something like 1221, including all Japanese exclusives)

And I'm pretty sure that there were quite a few games that didn't use motion control (excluding Virtual Console ones), that barely used the motion control at all, or that allowed you to not use motion control if you decided you didn't want to.

And to be fair, you weren't repped down for having an opinion, you were repped down because you were (and are still) being an insufferable berk and going 'THIS IS MY OPINION AND IT IS RIGHT! YOU ARE WRONG AND STUPID FOR HAVING A DIFFERENT OPINION TO ME!' as well as making ill-educated accusations just because you don't like something.

it seems to me that they're the only ones who really got it right and got it working.

Well, I will say that the Eye Toy for the PS2 was pretty fun, in my opinion, even if it was quite easy to cheat (especially that window washing minigame, where you could just shake the camera and win). And Eye of Judgement for the PS3s camera was quite cool.

When you're paying £180 for it, I expect it to be damn near perfect first time.

The PS3 and Xbox were far from perfect, both cost more than the Wii, and both had hardware faults that caused the console to die (Red Rings of Death and Yellow Light of Death (the latter of which caused all data to be lost because the PS3 requires any newly inserted hard drive to be completely reformatted). If I remember rightly, the Wii had that WiiConnect24 issue that could brick the console, but I'm pretty sure that was fixed rather quickly (honestly can't remember).

Also, I'm kinda pround of getting a Wii fanboy flamewar going 6 or 7 years after it launched. Well done guys, well done.

You say 'Wii fanboy' and yet I'm pretty sure all people in this argument have owned/played a PS3, 360, or both, and enjoyed it a lot, as well as enjoying what they played of the Wii. So you have just succeeded in started an argument, go you.

Actually, I'm pretty sure that it was the PS3 that made a loss on each console sold, and only recently began to even out. The Wii outsold every home console in it's generation. And saying it has no adult games is just short-sighted. Plus you forgot to factor in Nintendo franchises - if anyone wants to play the next Mario/Zelda/Metroid, they will need the latest Nintendo console. Plus there are things to cater for the needs of people who don't want games that are overly violent or childish, they cater to a lot more markets that just children (despite mainly advertising for families and children), and I am pretty sure that a fair few of those games are (or were) Wii exclusives.

To be honest, you should probably research things before you post about them... also come up with a better argument than 'but it is the Wii and the Wii is sh** and Nintendo is sh** and you are stupid if you actually think this sh** is any good because it is sh**' (I know you didn't directly say those things, but it is really the gist of what you are saying).

As for the WiiU, I reckon it will be like the 3DS, it will start out with not many games, and then there will be a lot of desirable games.

Sometimes I don't wanna listen to random songs I probably won't like most of for an hour and a half.

I just listened to the ones that sounded like I might like them (skipping to different points to get a good view), and didn't listen to the ones that I knew well (because it was a waste of time if I knew that I would probably just score them highly)... also, you could try doing something else whilst listening to the songs, because it can be quite boring just listening to music and staring at album art (that even goes for songs I like). The most time consuming bit is the leaderboard, I think.

I suppose I may as well guess that Jonzu's choice is Jdat - Marakesh, in a tossup between this and one other, the other seems a bit too obvious.

Quotes from the rules, please!

*Best 3 out of 5 rounds using all 5 entries (1 bot per round starting with AW and HW going last).

There. It will go AW, BW, LW, MW, HW, so if you win three in a row, the last two won't matter.

Rather than being imaginative, I just used the deck I have, which consists of all the cards that I have left. Maybe I will try to make an actually effective deck/a deck that has a theme at some point, but probably not.

I'm sorry but his account is his responsibility, you shouldn't be sharing logins with anyone

Actually, NotNoodle was an alt-account Noodle made after being banned one time, along with a couple of other ones after those inevitably got banned. Of course, these were eventually deleted automatically because he didn't post in the main forum with them.

It seems to have the same effects as a virus/trojan I had on my old laptop, which I got rid of using Combofix (per TRB's recommendation here).

I had to add this "anti-multi bot" line, just all things to be clear, but how I can edit the ACAMS post?

Quite simple really - you can't. If this were your topic, you could, but even then it would be completely unfair for you to change accepted rules a good ten days after they have been up just because you made an oversight, in my opinion.

Still waiting... Just start the damn poll already.
What poll?

The voting on the songs... The whole point of this entire thing.
You don't vote the songs by poll.

Got another entry, few to go.

Then how are we going to vote? If you're going to have us send our vote to you, we might as well just go ahead and say that your entry wins and be done with it.

Basically, in the voting thread, there will be a list of songs (with YouTube links) in the OP, and then everyone will post something like

12 Points: <Band Name> - <Song Title>
10 Points: <Band Name> - <Song Title>
etc. for the rest of the points (8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, and 1), and I think people are supposed to keep a running total of the points each song has.

If I remember correctly, that is.

and the ones that did fit the criteria of the board could have easily been put into the Off Topic Discussion board.

Actually, I would say that is more down to the fact the most of the Chatterbox threads were made before Off Topic Discussion was even made (I think it was made late August last year because Ianh suggested it due to the fact that he wanted on Off Topic Board that could be posted in by people who deigned not to see Junkyard).

3) I don't understand why it's there. Flaming should not be allowed if pornography isn't because the site is just as likely to get complaints about hurrcyberbullying, and Flaming is the only thing that I see fit for the Playground, because no one needs useless spam.

I think it was originally put there by ACAMS for forum games (stuff like Caption the Picture, or Comment on the Person Above You, as well as some RPs), but people took it as more of a 'no rules' area, presumably it's only purpose now is to keep rubbish in there and nowhere else... plus there is a reason why it is hidden by default.

To be honest everything there seemed to only get worse as time went on, until it was carpet bombed by ACAMS. It seems to have lost all point now, especially since there are probably only about 3-5 people that post there with any frequency. I doubt too many people will mourn its loss other than people who are self proclaimed 'master ruseman', but then again, they have a Skype group for most things that would be posted in Playground anyway (and I'm pretty sure most of it does get put in there).

I'm sure that the generic argument would be 'well, if you don't like it, block the board', but if everyone did that, then there would probably just be four people posting about stuff that nobody apart from them cares about, and anyone they would be trying to get to wouldn't be affected at all. And, to be fair, I don't think that most new members actually find it anyway, unless they were told about it previously, or eventually get told about it by another member.

To be honest, I don't really care whether it gets deleted or not, but it does seem rather pointless as a board now, and with the new rules that are coming, it would probably be just like Chatterbox anyway.

To be honest, I doubt there are 5-6 more active members that are actually interested. It would probably be better to just have everyone who has already entered enter another song, and disregard the one that scores lowest... at least if you do that, or something along those lines there will be a chance of this actually starting in 2013.
