DSL TC Showcases / Re: DSC's IRL DSL showcase
« on: December 01, 2016, 02:25:11 PM »

A WIP, as the arms are not identical, the left one needs to be rebuilt. But consider this a step closer to 'Super' Carbonize's coming full circle on the original "Darkest Knight" bot.

To give TGM just a little benefit of the doubt... whilst this replica is pretty terrible, I have recently tried to make Cassius myself, and it is nigh-on impossible with the parts currently in DSL. Everything seems to be a non-standard angle or shape, I gave up after a few restarts.

These are some of the most adaptable IRL designs made, these are all fantastic. Although out of curiosity, are any SHW versions planned?

Modifications / Re: IRL Components - Pack Two: Armour Released
« on: November 25, 2016, 07:25:43 AM »
The problem with reskinning a disc for the newer Nightmare blade is, it would just look like two textures with space between them, there would not be a solid disc. Also, the collision model would still be for a circular disc. I would be fine with making it, I just don't want to half-ass something just for the sake of getting it done quickly.

My request to anyone is, if they have some sort of reference for 3DS Max as to the size of the disc, and also the size of a 10cm square extender, can they link to it in this thread. The reference 'bot' for 3DS Max tells me nothing, there's nothing to compare it to. the 10cm extender is at least something to work from.

Challenge Board / Re: An idea to overhaul the challenge board system:
« on: November 22, 2016, 11:37:16 AM »
I'm of the opinion that IRL is as deserving of a title as any other category and shouldn't just be a beauty contest. A shocking concept to some, and honestly the best argument that IRL should have a title, is Badger saying it shouldn't.
If the arguement is about potential reorganising of these titles, I personally think these 5 make the most sense:

Stock
DSL-S
DSL-IRL
Irongforge
Retooled

Custom Components Showcase / Re: Pay Tribute With Replicas

I will provide a version that is under 800kg and without a reskinned piece I made for the logo.

Not 100% happy with this, as it's not too geat, and the extinguisher has pushed it over 800Kg. Even worse is that the gubbins do not show in the test lab for some reason, probably due to the poly sheets above it.

Badger complaining about "muh meta"? It must be [Instert any day of the week here].

Voted yes, just because the format is a good break from the excess of single/double elimination tournaments right now, as well as hopefully proving people to build more versatile bots.

Tournament Archives / Re: Beat the Clock - SBV
« on: November 18, 2016, 09:13:31 AM »
The results are in, thanks to the five people who actually made an effort to vote.

Most Exciting Bot: Guldenflame's Time Machine (with other votes for Mule's Kick, The Little Bot That Could and R01)
"People seemed to enjoy Time Machine being able to fling The CLock and itself around the arena on it's way to victory"

SFTW Award: A tie between Havok McSplosion's Hyperslash, and F1Krazy's Saber (with another vote for The Little Bot That Could)
"A little undeserved for both bots, there were far worse bots in the tournament, with Hyperslash outranking everyone aside from R01, and Saber outlasting three other bots before defeat."

Luckiest Bot: Havok MCSplosion's Hyperslash
"This is one that Hyperslash deserves as it was a shock to see it leading up until the penultimate match, however it was able to slam The Clock twice more in it's bonus match victory alongside Time Machine, so it may have been more than luck."

Unluckiest Bot: A tie between 090901's SPEEDY SPEED BOI, and Baconus_Yum's Bacon Flipz (with one vote for Saber)
"I guess due to SPEEDY SPEED BOI screwing the flip and it's match turning into a slow crawl along the wall. And for Bacon Flipz almost having The Clock tipped over and out but ultimately failing to Beat the Clock."

Surprise of the Tournament: A tie between Hyperslash's victory, and Try Hard or Try Home's sudden death.
"Again, the shock of seeing Hyperslash slam The Clock and land at the top of the timesheets for so long was a big surprise, just as big as seeing Kurt's bot getting strewn around the arena after looking to be one of the favourites."

Greatest Moment: R01's Almighty Second Flip
"A unanimous decision, it was R01's 9-second victory over The Clock, doing what Mule's Kick and SPEEDY SPEED BOI were designed yet failed to do."

I have a few personal awards too, to recognise moments that were missed:

The Punisher: Redace's Cyanide
"Cyanide was the bot that came closest to actually killing The Clock during it's match. Whilst it wasn't quick or pretty, it was brutal. Special mention also goes to Cyanide during the Middle 4 Rumble, for continuing to beat the sh** out of Akaname well after it was eliminated."

Most Waluigis on a Bot: Thrackerzod's Akaname
"Waaah."

For a bonus match, I accept Rob's invite for a HW match, but I want to also suggest a tag match - King and Queen Lance-a-Frog versus any CW/HW combo from anybody else who participated.

At the risk of a warning... You dispense advice like a cunt, act like one too, and again seem to think beating you in a fight would be a mark of progression, which is irrelevant. How about instead of leaving a vitriolic post and making sure you bold and italicise "Get. OUT." just right, you use that time instead to leave the advice or constructive criticism you 'didn't have time for'.

Worst Bot: The Living Whacked. Just... no. (the bot was slow, looked ugly, was not really in the spirit of IRL, and the way it had 4 hammers was unnecessary. Nice try baconus, hopefully you get it right next time. Keep showcasing in the meantime.
It was kinda a joke entree, to flash back to Reddit Bots.  But that is the end of the Whacker Series.
It was a ****ing sh** joke. It simply was not funny, looked straight-faced and serious, and was a absolute disgrace in a IRL tournament. Get. Out. (But in less edgy terms, continue to showcase bots and improve so this never happens again, and prove me wrong.)
There's been worse bots entered into IRL tournaments that were serious entries, so get of your high horse and stop bothering people who entered. He has nothing to prove to you because you are a ****ing bellend. Fair enough I can't say that I am entirely thrilled about the bot Baconus entered, but it's nothing to get so tightly wound up about.

Yes, matches have been filmed, but I've not had the time to put the video together due to other projects. In total there's 7 matches to go into the video.

I didn't say Steiner was a joke entry, did I?
It still looks like an armchair to me. It's imprinted on my mind now.
