So pole spikes dont fail ay?

Chalk 1 up for the noobie

Anyway, seriously dont start thinking im one of those guys who cant understand weight management and so forth, all my bots have been shaped down to cram in as much as I can:

Example spoink:

But in this one particular instance I wanted to recreate the hypnotic feel that hypnodisc gives off being my fav bot on robot wars :P

But I also appreciate the advice and will bear it in mind in the future. :)

I was having a hard time putting razors on so I just went with the pole spikes for now

And the one and only reason I chose (choose?) a circular shaped chassis was for the paint job, The original design for this guy was a cross shape but its not like im going to enter this guy in any contests so the circular shape is a lot more aesthetically pleasing...

EDIT

Replaced pole spikes with iron spikes and removed the maces at the ends (as they wouldnt fit with iron spikes) and the pole spikes seemed a lot better... Got a much quicker KO on Emergency and coalminer using pole spikes...

DOUBLE POST FTW, SOZ!!

Right I am keeping the lightweight hidden and the old middleweight is long gone, but I did notice something on the click beetle about the project trident thingy, so I kind of used that idea to create my SnS 'Swish' the middleweight, I really like using him but he feels a little incomplete... Let me know what you think.

Features:

- 6x Pole Spikes
- 2x Mace Heads
- 2x Pistons protected by chassis
- 2 Wheel HP Ztek Drive
- DSA Armour
- Awesome Custom Paint (Might video it in action as the swirl looks so sweet!)
- Invertible and sometimes the snapper motors even self right it somehow, the pistons occasionally bounce which can lead to some pretty brutal side effects...!

Cons:

- Can only spin in one direction for full effectiveness
- Exposed wheels
- Needs time to charge spin in order to be effective
- Vulnerable to wedges as it has semi-high ground clearance

And now the snapshots:

Inside the robot swish

Outside the robot swish

Comments really appreciated to make this guy better, but im really liking this beauty at the moment, destroys all the stock robots lol!

Ha :P

Yeah I can beat a lot of the starcore v1 bots just because they're exposed somewhere and have all the weaponry at the front so just drfit round, de-wheel and hit from behind as they spin around helplessly, also I dont understand what all the fuss was with alien queen in starcore v1... Kinda sucks IMO  :frown:

Starting to get the hang of these things and my lightweight is almost done... :)
eFFe/Snapper Load is AMAZING, and you can save a lot of weight with it.

I know but its irritating lol

Im happy with my servo glitch for the first couple of robots.

Hmm well while trying to find the folder opions tab I came across a button called ' compatibility files ' at the top nav BAR  and upon clicking it listed these folders:

And these folders contain all my exported paint jobs that I wondered where they went too, all my teams, all the robots and something about Ai and stuff which im assuming would be the place where I created custom Ai if I did that...

Many thanks for your help though, couldnt of discovered it without ya.

Oh and thanks for the welcome :)

Sounded pretty plausible but theres no tick box for 'hide folders' in the RA2 main menu or any other menu in the game for that matter...

Where did you find this tick box?

Right found the folder containing them, so at least I know how to find it now.

And yeah it works fine in Program files (x86) but its hard to explain, the files are less accessible manually, like they're literally no where to be found i.e my 'teams' folder is empty, despite me having 4 custom teams. (Note that the rookies team is in there).

Yeah it is in program files (x86)...

And I can find the folder il attach some screenies:

Here you can see I have exported and imported a robot

But in my robot designs folder:

I just have the extra bots... Can anyone help me out? :l

O and there isnt anything in my teams folder, everythings empty apart from team 1 which is just the rookies bots... I even tried exporting my robot and importing in the Rookies team but when I copied the file over it was the standard six robots. Crazy.

Lightweights are an interesting build, and are a good challenge.
eFFe/Snapper Loading glitches are your friend.

Dammit, I havent mastered that glitch yet!

im liking the first one

but the second one seems really fun to use but also fairly harmless for a heavy weight :)

So basically I have 2 versions of RA2,

the first is my 'clean' version with nothing out of the ordinary

the second is starcore AI pack 1 and I was hoping to transfer one of my robots across from the first clean version

So I exported it in my robot garage but I cant seem to find his file anywhere and therefore cannot import it, where is the file exported to and how can I access it so I can copy and paste it over?

Cheers.

Looking better already.

Tipz: Using T Connectors and Angle Connectors wastes weight. Notice that each weigh much more than an extender, while an extender can do nearly the same thing with the side attachment points. Try not to use them to save weight.

Weight Limit: Good
Battery Stacking: Very Good (especially for someone so new)

Heres a lesson on weapons.

Some weapons have normals. What is a normal you ask? A normal means that there it a part of a weapon that does damage, instead of the whole thing.

Weapons like razor tips, Iron spikes, and maces do damage no matter where they are hit, because they have no normals.

Weapons like pole spikes, pointy tips, battle axes, fire axes, spike strips, blade components, and axe heads all have normals. In a situation like this, those pole spike wheel guards would just take damage, but give none back. A better alternative could be iron spikes in this situation. Try to only use weapons with normals when it will be the normal part that will hit (like axe heads on a rammer). Although battle axes can make cool looking armor when used properly ;)

Thats some nice info there Somebody, thanks.

And dont even get me started on how frustrating it was to stack them batteries, I've accidently done it in the past but trying to actually do it was a complete mick take... Thanks for the compliments.

And the whole weapon normals thing sounds pretty interesting and il definatley have to take some of that into consideration when making my next bot, think il try a medium or lightweight bot, my light weights suck, good enough to beat the stock bots but after looking at the RA2 wiki of some of the lightweights on show my jaw just dropped in comparrison...

I feel exposed after that reply... o.O

Tore my reply clean up

And I know emergencys the best but if he flipped me instead of me smashing his flippers in the first hit it would take more than a couple takes before it looked impressive :)
