Looks really cool.
If you hadn't guessed, I'm pretty much just playing around with IRL designs these days.
Awww, so no new NAR AI team?
Nah, I'm mostly killing time till DSL3 comes out.

Any news about Killer Robots happening this year? Today's when they did it last year...
Haven't heard anything about it. I don't think there was ever official confirmation of a second episode happening.

it's pretty fast. On a particularly good shot it can punt HW's out of the DSL tourney arena.

Also, it's seriously boring seeing the same bot pop up in tournaments.
This is a pretty pointless IRL criticism when you look at any real world events.

Only if it stops winning.
The issue with that is that Drums are by far the best bot type in IRL, so unless you wanted a bunch of drums in a tournament (which would be cheap and boring) it would be ridiculously hard to beat while remaining IRL. I just personally think that Skidmark kinda kills the fun (and not just because I keep losing to it) of IRL because it's not that pretty, cool, or original. It's just effective, which isn't what IRL is about.
This isn't a great argument because drumbots are one of the more effective designs in real combat as well. They're still weak to wedged designs and some types of horizontal spinner. They'll also have issues with higher tooth velocity vertical spinning weapons, as those will tend to grab and throw, exposing the less protected rear of the robot.

@Conraaa Correct, the pointy bits allow it to drive inverted.

Spinner. 15krpm in theory, probably closer to 10-12k with air drag/friction/etc...

In addition, I'm going to attempt to have this built and ready for Clash of the Bots 3 in July-

Do you recall if you could flip other robots over the wall? It looked like every arena except the Battlebox had no side barriers.
I didn't see it happen when I was playing it.

I played the demo on the gamecube at Battlebots season 5, iirc. I think the demo had Toro, Ice Cube, Backlash and maybe one other bot able to be played on a bridge combat area.
Cool beans- how good do you think it was from the Demo?
It was decent for the time. Seemed like they tried to balance the robots such that any one could beat any other one, which led to odd things like flippers and plows doing a good deal of damage.

yeah, you guys think that it would be possible to find the beta? maybe in some old THQ site...
If people found 7 Sonic 2 betas, they can find a proto for this game.
Good point- hopefully that might just be the case here, too. I mean, apart from the somewhat wonky physics, it appeared to be more-or-less complete.
Yeah... Except the fact that there are major differences between EPROMS containing a proto designed for the Genesis and something that was probably burned to a DVD-R and eventually destroyed when it got the ax. I do have to say that you are thinking in the right direction, at least.

Thanks. Here's another one I just did- I'll probably enter it for the next season, which means I'll likely have to do a few tweaks to adjust for changes to the car model/template, but that should go fairly fast. I'm using Old English Text MT for the numbers. I think it's a nice balance between being a bit odd, but still legible and realistic enough to look right.

Using spoilers to keep this from being too huge- Here's my cars for the 2012 GTM Cup: I've done a ton of stuff for Nascar 09, still have most of the files so I can probably recreate them in NR03 at some point, here's some of them: Irn-Bru Sun Drop Miskatonic University (HP Lovecraft reference) Slurm BFG Tech

It tends to be smaller things that are the same, for example: Number fonts, supplemental sponsors, and similar designs in differing colors. For example:

The not quite perfect but fast option is to trim it to the left until it's driving straight-ish, or as far left as possible if you can't get it to there before the motors start turning the the stick centered. It'll mess with turning speed a bit, but seeing as it's got no problems gyro dancing, it shouldn't be much of an issue.
