Whether or not your mace collision boxes get out of alignment depends on the orientation of the Snapper the Z-tek is mounted on. If the Snapper is vertical, such that the Z-tek sags once there is a lot of weight on it, then the mace collision gets messed up. But if the Snapper is horizontal, or if you're not using a Snapper, then the maces are just fine.
As for the explosions at the start of the match, it is as Trovaner said. Because the bot's moving parts can't adjust to the arena while the game is paused.

I sent in my bot; the AI is coming later once I finish it. Oh yeah and I hope you have Mad's smart zones because you'll need them.
I'm not expecting to win with it, but it's a very fun design, and just plain intimidating.

Yeah I've been rather busy, there have been Family Activities every weekend for the past four weeks, which is normally the time when I can get the most fight recording done. Fortunately, there's no more stuff happening in the near future, so the pace should start picking up.
Also, here's an update. The other half of the round 3 loser's bracket is up!

Your FBS's might not work because they lack front and back support. With 2WD and no front/rear support, the chassis will scrape along the ground while it spins, which dramatically increases spinup time and also causes the drive assembly to constantly rotate around the chassis, making it impossible to drive.
If you look at either of my two FBS's (Thunder Cloud and Dark Cloud) you'll see I put a disc on the center Z-tek so I could add front and rear razor tips for support.
That said, I've never seen a LW FBS that has as much potential as that one. I didn't think it could be done effectively, but maybe if you could get that thing driving...

All right everyone, I got the first half of the round 3 loser's brackets up!
I was actually ready to post this yesterday, but I got a 500 Internal Server Error when I tried to come here. Go figure.
There are some more exciting matches this time, and only one bad apple (but that was due to Havok explosions and no fault of the bots themselves).

Nice work. Using razors might help alleviate the issue of low damage on wammers. It will also make the front less durable, though... I guess it's a tradeoff.
And I'm not sure why you love the vertical green snapper wedges. I use them on a lot of bots (usually just because they're easy to fit in) but in terms of wedginess they're always just ho-hum.

For the anti AGOD trick, i might try pausing, attaching an axle, garage and back, repeat. see if that works. Thanks for trying, but that didn't help... I still have to pause before each match. Oh well. I made a good skin for AWTH now: That design on the top represents one of those bird-man costumes people wore in a misguided effort to fly back before the Wright Brothers... an example of an accident waiting to happen. Then I threw on a bunch of random warning labels for extra flavor. I also shortened the wedges (and since they're slanted in, also made them wider by doing so) in order to add an extender guard below the motor. I had a few too many fights where the whole weapon assembly got knocked off. Although that still happens a little bit too often... And here's that video I said I was going to make. AI battles vs. Little Darling and Maelstrom. It gives you a good idea of how the thing is supposed to work.

I have a possible bot in the works. Not sure if I'll enter though. It might turn out to be a failure, since it's a relatively unheard-of design... (Hint: it's named "Warwolf" ) Put me down as a "Maybe".

If I compete, this won't happen again will it? Haha, if it happens to anyone it will be me, I think I'm ahead of you now. I actually made a DSL AW for June, but never got around to skinning the thing somehow, and with a week left before the deadline decided I would let someone else win. Not to mention I seem to have not noticed the "AI parts allowed" disclaimer; mine was all stock. We'll see if I can come up with anything for this one...

It's been a bit of a delay, I know, but I got the first set of loser's bracket matches up! No matches that are particularly noteworthy unless you're one of the competitors, but you gotta get through rounds like this to get to the good stuff later on. Also, now that we're done with round 2 and all the bots have fought at least once, I got some tournament rankings started! These rankings will determine who gets to participate in the rumble (with the added bonus of making my job easier when I have to add BBEANS5 data to the cumulative ranking). Unless you're ACAMS, MikeNCR, or Naryar, of course, in which case you'll automatically get to participate in the special Champion's Rumble with the BBEANS5 winner as the fourth entry. There won't be any prizes or anything awarded for this, but with three former champions and one champion-to-be, I just have to put them all in the arena at the same time and see what happens, right? Obviously, the rankings will contain spoilers from the most recent videos I posted, so watch any matches you want first before checking them.

Wow, that Complete Control arm is a near-perfect fit.
Do the bottom forks and the top fork move independently? It's hard to tell.

Nice! Sewer Snake just needs a little longer fork on the top, so it can flip bots with it and do all that wacky tumbling that it does.
And if you put a counterweight on the back of Stinger, you might be able to make it flip like the real thing... though I've never had much luck with that.

It's not AI'd, but if it was it would use a regular Omni.
I agree a video would be useful, and I was going to make one, but I wanted to see first if there's something I need to change to make the axles not get messed up.

Accident Waiting to Happen. DSA, 2 Supervolts, 2WD, 8 axe heads, 8 flailing iron spikes. This bot is awesome. In case it isn't clear how it works: it's not really a VS, it's more of a trap bot. It's designed to trap bots with the samurai swords first. The weapon spins downward (opposite the direction of normal VS's) and is positioned high so that the flails hit the top of the opponent, bypassing most weapons. The flailing action keeps the weapon spinning so it can deliver constant hits to the opponent's top and any motors and stuff that might be there. It also has excellent wedges. Since the wedges are angled inwards, instead of colliding head-on with the opponent's wedge and relying solely on brute wedginess to get under bots, AWTH's wedges tend to come in from the side, making it much easier to get under bots. It can beat pretty much any type of bot with an exposed top, except 36-mace spinners like AC and MIDF. (Iron spike HS's aren't as much of a problem, though.) There's just one problem. It only works if I use the pause key before starting each match. If I do a battle without pausing, the axles on the flails are AGOD'd to oblivion, even though it's just fine and dandy in the bot lab. Which wouldn't be such a big deal, except that pausing as you load a match causes some bots to randomly explode. Am I doing something wrong with the AGOD-conquering pause trick? I know for a fact that other people have gotten vertical flail spinners to work. What I did is built the bot like normal, until it came time to attach the axle mounts, at which point I paused the game and didn't unpause until the bot was finished and I was out of the bot lab again.

The last half of the round 2 winner's bracket is up, and I can guarantee you that NOBODY got all their predictions right. There was one HUGE upset this round, as well as several very close fights that everyone expected to be one-sided. Also, Good fights all-around, but R4's performance kind of concerns me. In AI testing against Borg Queen, it was barely able to scratch R4, let alone bash its front in. Hopefully that's just attributed to the fact that Gut Ripper has a long reach, because the weapons seemed to be firing prematurely.
Also, Vowel = O: I didn't touch the AI you sent me for R4; it's all yours. I could have changed it to Popup.py to fix the premature firing issue, but I figured that with 20 razors it doesn't matter so much if they get hit from firing early. If you want, I can still change it to Popup.

I saw it too. Great concept, but I don't like how obviously staged the whole thing was. The vehicles just sat there and deliberately got hit by the other team's weapons (of course, they threw in some clips of the vehicles driving around too in order to disguise the staged-ness, but it was still quite noticeable). They even re-used a clip of one of the team members going "Aww..." for two totally different events.
Of course, that's not to say the show wasn't entertaining... it was, and I'll keep watching at least for a while, but I do hope they eventually have some real battles on there.

well, actually, it kind of is on topic in the sence that we're discussing possible names for this tourney. just my opinion. Riiiiiiight... like CRAP and sh** are actually possible names. I see nothing wrong with "Kill The Other Bots". It has that kind of "so-stupid-it's-cool" feel. Now start talking about the actual tournament (not just names), or better yet wait to discuss it until it's actually ready to start. There's so many tournament threads going on in here, I'm this close | | to closing this one, I just don't want to be the mean, crabby admin that doesn't give people a chance to start tournaments.

The reason why Pandemic's weapon is messed up:
The perm is attached by one of the diagonal attach points which were added in DSL 2.1. Apparently, Gigafrost doesn't have the 2.1 patch. Or if he does, for some reason he doesn't have the Perm update. So when he imports the bot, the diagonal attach points don't exist and the game switches to one of the side points instead.

This thread is going down the tubes, fast.
If it doesn't get back on topic and start going somewhere in the next couple posts, I (or more likely ACAMS) will close it.
