Wow. Thanks everyone for the congrats. Suckerpunch fared far better than I thought. I also want to thank everyone that voted in my "pick JD's noob bot thread". Without those votes... I would not be here :P
Actually, without Reier's effort we would not be here. You put on an awesome tournament again Reier. Thanks for all your hard work. I offer my services to make a killer splash for noob warz 3 if you want.

Bots that was knocked out by the arena or got a bad match up making it losing terribly and epically and should deserve a montage? I got your Montage right here. *clicky*

Crabmeat- Nothing against Jack, but... fail. New Cruelty- To my building standards it is a fail bot but it looks pretty decent in that competition. Probably going to end OOTA'ed by one of these ghey flippers though.
LOL no offense taken. I am well aware of my bots major underdog status. White Text Spoiler: No FFFFFUUUUUUUU! moment for you... because you saw your bots fate coming.

Cool. I like the idea. So the chassis would have to be the same for all variations of the bot right? How would a person choose their bot type before the battle though? Would both players choose a type and hope for the best? Or does one person choose a type (because they lost a cointoss or something) and the other person chooses a type to counter it?
Ash: "I choose you Minesweepah!" James: "I choose you Absolute Chaos-izard!" *Battle ensues*
Oh and I second S32s idea of using this as an opportunity to flex our DSL muscles. Though I am leaning toward MW because it would give us a bit more room to play around with. HW sounds like it would be a PITA for you to police though.

I was a big time Battlebots fan during the Comedy Central years that is was on TV. I loved Overkill because it was simply a gorgeous looking robot. Shiny with a big blade... even if it wasn't terribly destructive. Son of Wyatchi was innovative. I think I watched it battle 4 or 5 times before I actually paid attention to the fact it was a walker. (a destructive one too) Biohazards flipper mechanics impressed the out of me. Those were some of my favs <3 <3 <3

That version is a decent improvement from your previous bot. You are learning the ropes... it takes time and patience.
Patience from you because everyone is going to slaughter you with advice and it will be a tad overwhelming.
Patience from everyone else because most of us take our skills for granted but we all started somewhere. (noob wars tourney examples anyone?)
Anyhow... when we say build to the weight limit we mean that you should aim to build stuff on your bot that maxes the weight limit. If you don't have any more room in your chassis for stuff... consider changing the armour type to something thicker to max out your weight. But the better thing to learn is to use components to protect your chassis so it is not hit in the first place.
You stepped up your game and made a much smaller chassis for this bot, you implemented a bunch of the advice to improve your building. Awesome. With time you will do well.

youtube EDIT actually it's still saving... it's taking FOREVER:pissd: Encoding a video will take a while. It is very taxing on a computer and like Sage indicated above, it is the most painful part of hosting a tourney. Be sure to edit out boring stuff from the match if the bots don't do anything for a long time. This will make the encoding process shorter if you have less video for it to save. If you coordinate things, you can encode a video on your computer while you have lunch or maybe when you get ready to go to sleep. That way you don't have to sit there and wait the whole time. This is the main reason I don't host tourneys, because my computer is ancient by todays standards. You are learning and doing a good job though. Keep up the good work!

thats what I did its like a WMMVV file or something like that Are you going to File and "Save As"? Because that saves it as a project. There should be a thing on the left hand side toward the lower middle that says "Finish Movie" then you can choose the format and save it to your computer. After that it should be ready for upload.

Ok, time for my thoughts:
Crabmeat: Joke entry.
Awwww. Can't we just go with: "Form over Funtion" ? :D I will laugh until I wet myself if I win a match. Sonny's assessments of the bots are pretty much Spot-on. Though I forsee a ton of upsets if bots end up out of the arena. I kinda wish I had taken the time to make a flipper bot now. Edit: Predictions: Cassius 2 Plunderbird Pulverizer Frostbite Revolutionist Supernova Fluffy Toro

Here you go. I quickly named this jpg tractorcake. Since tractorcake is such an awesome new word. I think my next tourney bot is going to be named that.

Worms 1 was the only game that was able to get my friends and I to stop playing Scorched Earth. Cluster Bomb and Airstrike were the best.
I have Worms 3D and Fortress for PS2, but I still <3 the side view version better.

Well, Aluminium is a horrible armor choice, Slimbodies fail as weapon motors, you have better wheel choices, you can put a blue control board in this, what else ?? Yup, I still have a lot to learn with DSL... I agree with all of your assessments though. I will strive to make a revised edition with better choices. Thanks for your feedback.

Some tips that I will give you: Try not to protect your components with the chassis. Aim to do the other way around. Protect the chassis with your components. Remember, in battle, if you lose a motor, extender, or wheel... your bot can still fight till the end. Take a few hits to a big chassis and your bot can be eliminated with everything attached. Try to make bots with as small a chassis as your skill can allow.
Protecting the top of the bot is a useless waste of parts. You will rarely encounter a hammer bot... Try to keep your chassis low and compact. Instead of throwing plows in places to protect the bot, try to focus more on weapons that protect the bot and damage as well. A well built horizontal spinning weapon can keep your enemies at bay better than a single plow. Plows are not sin however... at some point you can strike a nice balance between the two.

there might be too much weight toward the back of the bot... making the front wedges too light to be effective. How heavy is the bot? do you have weight to spare?

Bump! Please ignore the new DSL showcase that I made... Hopefully that will get deleted. Since there seems to be some confusion to what my R.I.P. tourney bot does, I will feature it here. Like craaig said, Falchion is a vertical spinning gut ripper. Usually it will slice under a bot and just nip away at the guts underneath. The fast drive motors attack other bots very quickly and usually catch them before they have a chance to spin up or prepare. If it gets lucky, it can pin a bot against a wall and shred away. Weaknesses are the obviously over exposed chassis with only 1mm alum. It does not have a srimech at all... so if it gets turned over it is in trouble. The vlad spikes do a little bit of damage too if the opposing bot gets juggled up the beater bars a bunch. Overall, it is pretty successful against most of the AI DSL bots... does not fare too well against shell spinners though (but it easily wedges under them) I built this bot quickly in the span of about 4 hours... so it could have turned out a bit better I imagine. The chassis could have been made more effective... but I wanted it to look cool and be super-low and wedgy.
