Vortex CE, heh?

A little difficult to immobilize btw, but I don't used the horizontal hammers (forgot about them!). And as you see I'm using Starcore 3 actually.

For the chassis height, I needed it for the stacked rear batteries.

Done. If you need more written explanations, just ask.

For unknown's tournament, kind of you to offer me the chance to participate, but I think I won't. My MWs suck, as said.

...But another thing will be the next stock HW tourny...

Try what? You want to see what does it do when I use it properly?

Thanks for inviting me to the tournament Scrap Daddy, but if it's MW ...count me out before I get mauled, i totally SUCK at building 'em and I fear I'll allways be. The previous I built can't even own Deadbeat properly...

Grip of Violence V9 Anti Horizontal Spinner

Last edition on the bot I'd worked hours on, my first hammer and most accomplished bot. Chassis changed, wheels changed, but not that different. And all my hate to horizontal spinners (BTW the lightweight one quite sucks) has slowly soaked that bot, making him... a nemesis to them.

Name: Grip of Violence V9 AHS
Type: HW, Hammer (Vertical & Horizontal)
Weight: 797.6
Armor: DSA
Weapons: Two heavy vertical hammers, 4 iron spikes each powered by DDT's
Two light horizontal hammers, 1 spike strip each powered by Snapperé's
Iron spikes to protect the wheels and rear spike strips to stabilize

Batteries: 3 Supervolts, 2 stacked (rear case)
Drive: Two GrannyGuards powered by HP Zteks

+ Good damage
+ Good front armor
+ Protected wheels
+ Particularly damaging versus horizontal spinners (stops them with plate armored front, then hammers to destroy at least the discs, then the chassis... the Borg Queen is now a piece of cake to this one, and he fights better than I expected vs the Starcore 3 Heavyweight HS, completely omwning some in the process)

- A little slow (but surprisingly controllable for a 2WD)
- Exposed rear
- Wheel-rippers often come off pretty fast
- Quite weak VS vertical snippers

(Copyright Scrap Daddy for the heightened hammer motors. Handy because your weapons don't come off as easily)

RA2lover he put three black batts: that's just enough to power correctly the Zteks but not the 2 right angles.

Quote from: RA2lover;7017
the disk is just BEGGING to be hit by a hammer.

Yea. I was thinking this too. Especially as I have a anti-HS hammer specially designed for that :)

Nice stacking BTW. And for me, I spend minutes to find the right position to stack just TWO black batts ...

OMFG! How the heck can you put a little less than 25 components on the same motor? Normally the game engines stop at 10 perhaps!

And you just stacked 5 black batts, right?

Yeah. Just think of the tactics if you put ranged weapons... finally the bots would be just one chassis, drive, one weapon and tons of ramplates to protect it from bullets and projectiles.

Quite boring.

Btw Scrap Daddy you HW in the All Around Bot Builder championship was cool.

He's not calling you gay I thinkdbw4223.

I agree with Scrap Daddy : no ranged weapons.

Btw why you guys are calling everything you don't like "gay"? Not only here, but on Youtube too.

And you can make pneumatic Killalot claws in DSL, i'm pretty sure.

Well if your flippers are made with cheat parts... Bit I still can't believe how can you flip bots that high, especially HW's.

I actually saw that none of your bots have titanium armor. You could put some.

Actually Titanium 1, 5 and 10 mm have the best toughness/weight ratio.

Plastic is correct, steel is slightly less efficient... and finally aluminium SUCKS.

Heck no guys ! Stop with ranged weapons! RA2 is not a FPS!

This gets all the fun out of the game. Battlebots and Robot Wars said it: it's melee combat! (or at least close range).

Perhaps the chainsaw, yes...

I have some ideas:

-IC and pneumatic motors (and fuel, of course)
-Complex chassis mode (option) to create exotic thingy like spheres, pyramids, rings...
-Add the multibot option (controlling two bots in fight. Three is excessive)
-Add the Superheavyweight class (from 800 to 1400 perhaps)
-Include all classes (AW and BW, notably)
-Able to customize easily the connector-type components (connectors of course, but tribars also), by exemple color and material
-Upgrade Team Deathmatch (no two fixed teams)
- Possible 6 bot fights (oh yeah. Clobberin'time), but this could be wild for some computers

Three of theses are difficult, I know.

No problem.

Download your files? Where you want. Normally when you ask you computer to download something, you can choose the folder they'll be downloaded to. Personally Firefox downloads automatically mine to the desktop. Very easy.

But if you can't find, perhaps in My Folders, or in a folder called Downloads... dunno. Try searching for your file automatically. (Don't know the name of the program in English. I'm on a French XP Home edition.

So remember, before pasting new files in one of the game's folders, get rid of "read only" in this folder and perhaps make a copy of the existing file, in case the mod goes wrong.

Same for me on the flipper ramp. Ha, I was wondring what's wrong... but your reversed controls idea must be true.

Actually Perm132 needs 66 amps, but 309 amps is too much, I agree.

I never used that dual perm freak, personally. I just use Perm132's for the chains, but I favor Magmotor-type weaponry.

Nope.

You must move things manually, and make sure the files in the target folder is not in "read only". Generally they are.

Ex: if you install RA2 stock and want to use Starcore, you go to your Robot Arena/AI file, you select them all, and remove the "read only" mode. Then you copy the Starcore AI in it.

Well, I must correct myself: Drums are HARD to build in Stock, way easier in DSL.

I can't really picture what is a "popup"... a hybrid wedge/flipper, if I remember well ?

For me, it's VS and drums eventually (but you can't make drums in RA stock)
Hammers are also good.

I'd really like spears if I could build one other than crap.

Regular stock sucks. My HW's generally win VS all stock bots (record, killing Coal Miner in 8 seconds with an early design of GoV) . Never tried with my LW... will have a try.

Actually I began Starcore a few days ago. Wasn't brave enough to run into Starcore 3 so I tried Starcore 1.

My bots could generally win against these AI bots. (Excepted the Borg which are monsters)

Yes, there are actually DSL bots and arenas. Or he just downloaded DSL AI, components and arenas...

Hey 6_teen it seems you have made a lot of bots and a lot of AIing, could you make a showcase ?

And I could be interested.

Micro Oblivion

Pretty good lightweight, my better actually (I'm no good LW builder). Does pretty well against the majority of Starcore 1.0 LW's.

I was bored of seeing tribars and razor tips everywhere (and I don't like the visual, blue is not my favorite color), so I forgot the first weapon system (tribar and 6 razor tips), and tried the disc with 4 razor spikes... Disc came off pretty fast, and not really good-looking. Finally I came with a sort of bar spinner.

Name: Micro Oblivion V4
Type: LW, Horizontal Spinner
Weight: 244,1
Armor: DSA
Weapons: 4 iron spikes mounted on black extenders, powered by a Snapper2-enhanced Ztek (useful as a srimech)
Battery: One Supervolt
Drive: Two shiny hub wheels powered by right angles. One caster.

+ Good damage for a LW
+ Good speed for a spinner, and better control than expected
+ Low weapon mount, flippers are less dangerous
+ Lighter than a tribar with the same weaponry (and faster)

+/- Self-rights most of the time, sometimes gets stuck on his side and must try again (or spin the weapon)
+/- Weapon toughness is so so.

- Weak armor (is it me or small chassis with DSA are weaker than big ones with the same armor?) and lower defence than a tribar spinner.
-Low "range" (i.e. must get closer to the other bot, and so take more risks, to attack)

Nice bots, yeah.

Spin Bonker DSL looks mean, fast (four NPC64 are quite good) but doesn't need four big batteries. Tw (PC565's if I remember) are enough (and even then it will be slightly overpowered) for one Etek and four NPC64. Could save 60 kg for that.

But the Atom Smasher is underpowered ! One big batt and one orange batt should be enough.

If you want Spin Bonker to be really deadly, you should tighten the chassis a bit, remove that front panel and put some ant batts, or even stack a battlepack battery in the first.
