Complete BS in my opinion.

Agreed.  There was some lady handing out flyers at my workplace the other day encouraging people to buy her book and attend her seminars in preparation for 2012.  All I could think to myself was:  "People are seriously making money off this?!  Who in their right mind would be sucker enough to pay for any of that crap?"   I thought it was bad enough when people buy supermarket tabloids that claim the end of the world is near.  But holy crap...

Depends on how it works.

You sould also be PMing the spashes, 7 days left!

And also, It doesn't matter about how good they are!

Call me stubborn... but I didn't want to enter something that wasn't combat effective as well.  To enter a contest... I want my bot to be awesome in more ways than one. I like that you are trying to motivate people to think outside the box.

Oh, and I have been working on my bot on/off for about two weeks and finally got it to be effective in combat today.  I will make a splash and throw it at you tomorrow.

Starting post indicates a possible 32 bot bracket... Looks like there is plenty of space to me.  Others should enter too. Wham puts on a great show. Don't miss out on this!

We have a pretty diverse collection of people on this forum. Some are pretty knowledgeable about all sorts of things. This thread is for questions... any questions about anything. It does not have to be about Robot Areana... It can be about life itself.

A wise man once said that the only stupid question is the one that goes unasked.  So, ask questions... post answers.  What is on your mind?

--------------------------

I will start things off... this question might take some research because I cannot find the answer.  It has nagged me for a few years.

In the game Gran Turismo 4, when you go to the GT AUTO to get a car wash. There is a groovy song that plays when you get there. It has a pretty catchy riff and some fun piano to it.  I cannot find anywhere who made this song and what it is called.  I kinda like the song and have always wanted to have it in my mp3 collection.

BONUS: if you find out the answer for me and I can verify it somehow... I will reward you with a free bot skin designed by myself (probably the only marketable talent I can provide here) I will skin a bot of your choice for a tourney/BOTM/or whatever as a reward.

--------------------------

Oh, and in this thread if you answer a question... be sure to indicate who the answer is for... so that we know what answers go with which questions.

Have fun.

I agree with Pwn... there is a little bit of empty space, probably could be cleaned up a tad.  I would think that if the spinners were closer to the front it would be a bit more effective, just my opinion.  Otherwise it seems like a pretty awesome bot.  Battleshots/scores?

I would imagine that Badnik will be away on his trip for the next week. I suggest making a good AI line for the bot and send it to him when he gets back.  He can probably just throw your bot in the last match in place of the Bye bot. I can't see anyone objecting to that.

Sage, thanks for the great AI on my bots (probably was easy... but thanks anyways)

B&B performed as designed... Though it looked like they got in each others way. I put them together to work with each other.  They Slowly attack without causing much damage to each other.  I didn't think I would say this, but given the circumstance of the arena, I am glad I used RAD motors instead of something faster like HPzs.  Keeps them out of trouble I think.

I think most of us are wishing we made pushers now for this tourney.

Entry Sent.  Hope it is realistic enough. It was actually kinda hard to focus on building something that does not exploit some of the perks that DSL building allows.

But, it should be ok. I even added sponsors.  :P

Just found about swarmbots today.  Pretty interesting stuff... Might be worth a read for you tech-heads and open source nuts.

The video is amusing to watch.  Kinda reminds me of that zombie infection time-lapse map thing that was circulating the interwebs a while back.

Discussion / Entirely new bracket for tournaments!

In theory... you could also expand the concept to rumbles as well if you wanted.  As long as the total bots were in multiples of four... you could have sequential rumbles that would assure that all bots competed with each other one way or another.  Just a thought.  This could cut back on the total number of matches that need to be recorded.

Good points Starcore.  I guess I was just being defensive for Jonzu because this is his first hosted tourney.  You make some valid points about what was omitted from the rules as well.  Hopefully he will learn from this and improvise for the future.
