Most don't allow them for because of the possibility of fire, exhaust fumes in arena, fuel spill and messy clean up.
Also I'd never use a nitro engine in a fighting robot for 3 reasons.
If the motor dies it has to be restarted
You can stall it if inverted for too long
They typically weigh more than an electric motor.

I'd go NPC normals with technos for drive, add a wedge, figure out how to add more weapons and if there still is weight left add external armor.

I almost got into this... Then I was bitten by the "robot bug" and that money hole of a hobby keeps me out of the money hole known as RC racing. :P
