It's included in 1.1? Where?

If you got the time, can you also include a list of which builder build which team?

Lol, guess my wedge is doing okay then.

Lol I guessed Naryar's and Joe's correctly. I think Naryar would have gotten more votes if he didn't made a splash that camouflaged the bot in the background.

DSL TC Showcases / Re: Condor's showcase« on: January 05, 2010, 06:27:13 AM »Yeah, the lack of bottom armor without a wedge will mean a decent gutripper will have this splattered. It will, however, eat SnS for breakfast, or a HS for that matter. From my experience with this kind of wedge-less bot (and I must say I build quite a few), they tend to be weakest vs long range HS/hammer SnS and strongest vs gutrippers/popups, providing the chassis is armored properly. Popups/gutrippers tend to have less weapons pound for pound. As such you can easily break all their weapons by grinding at the top. As for why SnS/HS will kill it, it is because they can destroy your ground support which kills both your drive and damage. They are also extremely easy to swap away, because unlike a wedge, they tend to provide more surface area for a hit from the side. In this particular case it's made worst by the fact that those silly pre made disk has normal, so hammer coming from the side can easily destroy them without taking damage in return. It would probably do okay vs shell spinner/flail shell spinners though. My guess is that it won't win against Dream Catcher. 2467
DSL TC Showcases / Re: The DSL Showcase of The Ounce, to Learn« on: January 05, 2010, 12:22:17 AM »
fair enough, as long as you know that once the bot is stop or got wedged, there are no chance of recovering as the extenders will break. I guess the real question then is, how many bots in the LW division can break of 90kg worth of hammers but cannot break 100kg, versus how many bots can either stop or get under and break your extenders. It's your call I guess.

no matter how you put it, the carbon fiber extender still bothers me. Though I am not sure how to get the weight to do a flipper segment x2 or flipper segment/poly skirt extender aside from lowering the hammer to 45.

You must have bottom armor if you wish to survive with these kinds of wedge-less builds.
I would say down your drive to slim motor, and use vlad wheels. 2470
DSL TC Showcases / Re: Naryar's DSL Work« on: January 04, 2010, 03:44:59 AM »
It might be a bit crazy, but I was actually thinking along the line of using an irregular chassis shape, asymmetrical chassis, and single wedge to counterbalance the torque. So if the motor is spinning counterclockwise it will look something like this.
![]() As far as where it needs more stabilize work I am sure you will know that better than I do. Then again, most of my "test attempts" doesn't turn out so well, so try at your own risk. 2471
DSL TC Showcases / Re: Naryar's DSL Work« on: January 04, 2010, 03:04:32 AM »
You know, maybe the bot will be better if you simply remove the weak wedge. It doesn't need to be symmetrical given that the torque will mess up your drive regardless. I guess the extra weight can be used for side stabilizer or something.

I go with #6, and those wedge looks like Naryar's (though it can also be copied by someone else).

The problem I am having with PillarPlus is that the front is absorbing too much impact. I wanted the damage to be distributed more evenly on all 4 side (making it harder for a chassis kill).
I can sent you to bot if you want to take a look at it. 2474

Thanks. I tried them, don't really like the way they turn out though, I think I will stick to FBS_1 for now.

So I got a crawler that has no trouble move forward/backward, but how do I AI it?
All I need it to do is move toward the guy, start spinning at 3 range, stop spinning when it gets out of 3 range, and move toward the guy again. I tried Omni, but it wouldn't stop spinning after it get in range, even if the other bot end up outside of range later. I know it's been done before with bumble bee so thanks if anyone can help. 2476
DSL TC Showcases / Re: Condor's showcase« on: January 02, 2010, 07:46:24 PM »123STW might be able to answer if each blade can do damage. I forget how to check where the weapons "damage mesh" is. While I never really pay much attention to the normal line, bb saw only has 1 blade collision. You can check collision by pressing F12 in the botlab. 2477

So does mounting those hypno disk on DSL bar make it deal more damage than DSL disk or something?

All the XL are drive motors. TWMR is the weapon motor.

General Support / Re: Armor toughness« on: January 01, 2010, 10:58:52 PM »
But the realistic armor choice are plastic 1, titanium 1, plastic 3, plastic 5, and titanium 3. Titanium 5 is really pushing it and 10 should never be used. If you got that much weight you could of lower your armor to plastic 5 and put on external armors instead.
For the most part I stick to plastic 3 and 5. Plastic 5 has a better ratio than titanium 3, and I suppose titanium 1 isn't so bad in certain situations, I just never got the chance to use it much. 2480

I still like 100 cm solid black disk over dsl disk, since it let you mount 8 overkill blade on it (still under-armed for a HW), but at least it will look really cool.
If you only going to have 2 weapons however, might as well just use a DSL bar. |
