Looking excellent now. I do like the skirt on top, that's a nice feature. How often does it come into play?

I think I know what you've done here. You've downloaded DSL, but you haven't overwritten the bots in the AI folder properly. When you download it, make a copy of Stock, then extract DSL to the same folder. You should get a message asking you to confirm you want to overwrite stuff, and you want to click "Yes to All", which replaces all the Stock files with the equivelant DSL files.

Rampage's shape might be a bit tricky to pull off, I reckon. What with all the angles and such. I can't remember if Scrapper's been done or not.

He's right, though, in this instance. Your weapon'll be spinning so damn fast, you want as much HP as you can get on it. A hammer would probably be the best bet for this, I reckon, razor tips would work on a normal SnS, but they're simply too flimsy to work well on a trinity spinner.

By virtue of being the reigning champion? Only logical reason I can think of.

Ah, okay. It looks quite similar to one of Vertigo's bots, though, but he had some DSL discs on the top and bottom, IIRC.

I really like that setup, nice and compact. Perhaps you could use some of the remaining weight to beef up the skirts, though, you could definitely do better than poly and alu. I'd say you only need one Metal Hinge in the center as well, that might help with the wedginess of it. Could probably do with being a bit wider too, would that be possible?

DSL TC Showcases / Re: NFX.showcase/DSL« on: January 14, 2012, 09:51:59 AM »That bar radius is frankly a little overboard and I would say it's slightly unrealstic but nothing too bad. This sort of motor-on-top design is naturally unrealistic by virtue of the mechanics of the game, much like a ring spinner. The idea here is that the drum component creates the illusion of a hollow axle, which supports the Perm motor, which in turn spins the bar around it. And the reach is comparable to that of Final Destiny, I reckon, minus the skirting. Which Diesector removed anyway. http://www.mutantrobots.com/Images/FinalDestiny2.gif I'll agree with you on the skin, though. It's very tricky to get the rivets in the right place, what with it being stretched when you export it and all. 2479
DSL TC Showcases / Re: Mad-man 3's DSL showcase« on: January 14, 2012, 09:46:07 AM »IRL spinner looks fantastic. It would definitely suit a skeleton-style theme. Not too certain about the sheets sticking out, though, I think Flipper Segments would look a bit less flimsy.I wouldn't trade a slightly more flimsy looking piece with much more HP for something that looks better but has much less HP, personally. See, that's what I would do. =D If you're building in IRL, then I would advise that you place aesthetics above combat efficiency. If you do it the other way around, then it comes off as substandard DSL rather than IRL, in my view. 2480

Tweaked Frequency for Blades Of Fury 2.
![]() No more ugly poly extenders cluttering it up, and a more aesthetically pleasing "support" for the motor, I reckon. Typhoon spike because I had weight left over, and I thought it would help with self-righting. Plastic 3, so it's tougher as well. 398.5kg. |
