I don't mean to derail the thread... but a Robot Special Olympics might be suitable for some of the uhhhh "gifted" members as a qualifier.

Precisely Sage!
So when we look at the arguement: "Swear words should not be censored or banned regardless of who the audience is." It ultimately does not matter... because the censorship is going to stem from where the audience is. And who controls the area/rules that the audience is located. 2446

Speech, just like every other form of communication is all dependent on the audience. There are ways to offend people with words, music, visuals, gestures, etc etc. It all depends on who you are communicating with. Who is your audience?
As a courtesy, refraining from swearing in public is a good idea because your audience will vary and, thus, their opinions will vary. But, alas, we also run into the argument that it is a "Free World" and we have "the Freedom of Speech". Some people will take that freedom and run with it, disregarding the feelings of others in the process. But if you don't care about the level of respect your peers have for you based on their opinions of what you say, then why not? The internet f*cks it all up though... Is it a private area? Is it a public area? If a messageboard is considered public then people should have the freedom to operate and communicate however they see fit. The respect given from the other members of the forum will ultimately decide whether those actions are favorable. If a messageboard is considered private then, by all means, the owner of the private board has just as much right to kick you out just like you were cussing up a storm in his/her own home. I think cussing is totally fine as long as you are aware of the fact that there will be an audience that will find it permissible and an audience that does not. Also, in specific reference to the internet... it is not as public as it may seem. Think of your presence as being in someones house, if they don't like your conduct, they will simply ask you to leave or move you out by force. That is their right as well. Paint a picture of a beautiful nude woman and you will find that there are places you can hang it that will bring you enemies by the boatloads... and there are places you can hang it and receive adoration and respect. Swearing is like a beautiful nude woman... :D Just like art... just like music... just like any other form of human expression. 2449

Joe/Ian when the time comes in 2010 I can help you with splashes and brackets if you want. I cannot host/record matches though because my computer is a bit too ancient to handle fraps and resulting video storage.
Glad you are feeling better Ian! 2451

Ok... status report.
Triton: I swapped out the eteks for the twm3r and was nicely pleased with the weight drop... though those motors are a bit more fragile. I also upgraded the drive to NPC fast... but hypno wheels killed my invertibility on the bot. 123STW: Agreed... the bot is at a loss of weapons. I tried a 4 piglet formation with drills and saw a nice improvement. While I was working with that i realized that I now had enough weight to use Potters Wheels now that the weapon motors are lighter with the TWM3Rs. I backtracked and went with my original plan for potters wheels. In battle, the bot now has a terrible tendency to flip itself over because the drive motors are fast enough to send it end-over-end with impact. I needed a tail and some rear armour... OH BOY ANOTHER FIRESTORM FLIPPER!!!one!! Think I am overdoing it? I wanted to put something else back there... but the FS flipper fit rather well... keeping the bot invertible and also giving a new "tail" to brace it when grinding away at another bot. ![]() So... all advice taken into consideration so far... it is much improved from the earlier bot I posted. The main weakness is that the weapon motors are a bit exposed... all it takes is one decent hit and they are gone. I am going to play with options to maybe protect them more... not sure. 2452

Thanks for the advice Urjak. I have, since, been using Multi Extenders more often in my builds. They work much better.
This is my CC3 entry. Haphazard 2 ![]() Nicely combat effective. Takes a huge beating and keeps going. My main qualms with this bot is the horribly unprotected underside (armour is only 1mm titanium too) and the chassis is kinda big and spacey. I had to make the chassis big in order to position the firestorm barricade the way I wanted. I had made a smaller version (Haphazard 1) but it just didn't work out and position correctly. The top wedge also makes the bot invertible. Oddly, I was already fiddling with firestorm wedges before Naryar and 123 mentioned their benefits in the other showcase... I didn't know about the enhanced durability though. I kinda wanted to go over the top with durability and cram two potters wheels in there instead of drills... but I could not stay within the weight limit that way. Feedback is always nice. Thanks. 2455

After the holidays I think I will dive into making a game with AGS. It looks very easy, yet time consuming.
Perhaps I could make a Robot Arena 2 adventure game. "The adventures of SFTW" 2457

I chose Kiwis. Lots of people skin Kiwis before eating them... I don't. They taste fine with the skin.
