Looks fairly well armed, but the back will get munched.

If anything reaches the back.  Alot of the builders seem to prefer a wide stance front charge and hope for the best.  As long as you keep your drive motors fast the bot can swing around quickly enough to avoid a swing around attack.  Durability on the rear motors is important for that.

To me, leaving the ass end exposed like that is like playing Poker... Sometimes you get the Ace... sometimes you get crap... All or nothing.

I really dont actually see an issue with people making robot packs, etc ?

it will need more work towards what you already have but is it so wrong someone wants to share robots with others ?

I see what you mean joe... but I think the thing that is problematic is that some of the new players just dive into this stuff waaaaaay too fast and spam up the board with billions of questions because they never took the time to learn the basics first. I like it when this forum is focused.  There was a time where 80 percent of posts around here were about each others bot showcases and we all commented and worked hard to improve as builders in preparation for future tourneys. I kinda miss those days.

When new players start talking about hosting tournaments and building AI packs after being around only a month or so... it just disrupts the board with questions that have been asked before.  All of the answers are already on the boards, people just need to read the threads.

It's stuff like this that pushed away members like Infinite and other vets.  I miss having them around, but I don't blame them for getting fed up with some of this.

Billy Bot saws are more durable but have a slightly lower DP number... If you can shave off some KG with the extender work you can easily mount dual Billy Bots on each motor.  I am not sure how the damage is done with that disc though.  The BB saw has two blades on each weapon.  123STW might be able to answer if each blade can do damage.  I forget how to check where the weapons "damage mesh" is.

But anyways, if the BB saws do damage on both blades then you can boost the weapon set up from four to 8 and the collision mesh of the saws might protect your bot more because they are longer.  Am I making any sense here?  :P

wouldnt the heavy DSL tooth look so much more like the actual bot?
Yeah, When I saw the bot I got all excited "Woot! I can make a replica using heavy DSL teeth!"  But after a couple of designs with the heavy DSL teeth it just looked toooo huge. I had to make the chassis almost twice as tall and as a result the rest of the bot has to be larger to keep the proportions right.  With the heavy DSL teeth the whole bot ended up freakin' huge.  I wanted it to be more to scale in relation to the bot in real life.  Wasn't an easy choice, but yeah those teeth match design wise... but size wise they are just too big IMO.

I don't think it completely failed, Jack. I mean, there's no doubt that that was one of the best-looking replicas there.

Heh, thanks! It was fun to watch it fight too... but this time I have designed something a bit more destructive.

Entry Sent!  Go U.S.A.!

Thanks for all your feedback on Haphazard. Click is right, I should have used a halfsheet on the bottom. d'oh!

Here is my entry for the UK vs USA tourney.

Splash speaks for itself. GO U.S.A.!

Been working on it all day... I wish I could paint the DSL bars on the side, but I have no idea how to edit GMF files.  Fares excellent in battle against any HW replica in DSL.  I tried to design the bot with Large DSL teeth, but it ended up enormous and unrealistic.  I opted for the small DSL teeth instead and they are just long enough to clip the floor every now and then, but not too bad.

And yes... the original bot has a semi-transparent top (dark plexi) So I made the top of the replica semi-transparent too to view the DSL components inside.

Pic of the actual bot. It competed in Battlebots season 5.  http://teamxd.com/steelreign5.html

Entry sent, go USA!

Also, have you decided on the format of the tournament?  Because I think you should make the first round be US vs UK so that everyone gets a chance to fight the opposing country; one of the major complaints I had about the Extreme Warriors 2 War of Independence was that there was only one battle that was actually between a UK and a US robot.

Woot! Sonny is in! That always makes replica tourneys more interesting :D

I will be in too... just gotta make something for this that is not going to fail like crabmeat :P

Hey Jonzu.  Thanks for taking the time to finish up the tourney.  Despite a few delays you came through and got it all done.  I hope you learned a bunch while hosting the tourney.  I think the 1 minute length of the matches turned out to be a pretty cool rule and resulted in a pretty close final at the end!  Great effort man.

You still have 33 hours!

I know... now I have less than 10 hours & I am nursing a killer hangover. Thankfully all my partying was done last night instead of tonight. I will still work on a bot :D

I might not make the deadline at this rate.

I does it stay put? it might be falling...
It probably is falling. When I change the camera... The camera sllllllowly pans away as if the object is getting further away.  So, yeah... falling into the depths of RA2 heck.  Probably a heckish place of fire, brimstone, SFTW, bad television programming, and stale bread of which decent sandwiches cannot be made from.
