Oh he was using the older, less stable version of VMW, I see now.

First off, welcome back to the forums Vivix!
As for me, I'm sure I have posts about my history of RA2 somewhere, but at the moment I'm too lazy to find them so, to summarize: Bought the game off the official site 2 years ago, found the forums shortly after, started lurking for a few months afterward, signed up in June 2009, and the rest is history. 243

V.M. Worker lost to The Ugly? Ok srsly wtf?
As for predictions on the rest of my bots for this round: I doubt Stiletto 6 will beat Star Dust, but Eris can beat Ballista. I'm not quite sure on Lasceron vs. DiSemboweLment or Mild Torture vs. Lightning Assassin, but High-Density Molecule and Subsonic Shockwave will lose their matches. 244

It looks interesting, but I somewhat doubt those wedges. Can it get under anything, and is there something you can do with the remaining 4 kgs?

It looks great, but the asymmetrical chassis bothers me. I guess you didn't really have a choice though since you wanted to save weight.
Huh? Why is the middle extender red? Oh, no reason. I just felt like adding a little splash of color. Nice try Click :P At least now I know a little of what to expect in DoD. 246

I think it looks fine, just wish the weapons didn't intersect. Can it outwedge more bots than Second Sentinel?
The VS looks cool too. 249

Can't believe I missed all those updates. D:
Still, 3rd place with BA6 isn't bad at all, but I still don't get how Dawn Collar 2 beat Major Uproar. ![]() Sorry for the slight bump. 250
DSL TC Showcases / I'm back.« on: April 01, 2011, 04:31:37 PM »
Yes, after a sudden two week leave I'm back (Yeah I know, not very long, but then again I'm not usually away for that long), and what better way to return than to revive my showcase after three months of inactivity. Since it's been that long I might as well show what I've been up to in RA2 lately.
First, a several-month-old design: ![]() Pretty much everything is visible. 5mm plastic, Mag drive, 1 halfsheet. Apart from beating a few wedges, it's pretty much worthless, and only exists because I wanted to build a MW VS with a 6-Mag. Remember that Geared-Beta hammer I posted in the battleshots thread a while back? Now here is the full view: ![]() 5mm titanium, 6 ants, NPC fasts. It has 3 side panels and 2 heavy plows protecting the front. On the bottom are 2 halfsheets with a 40cm angled plastic sheet attached to each; these are to aid its stability, but since it havoks so much they aren't really doing anything. By now its main flaw should be evident to you all already, but I don't want to give up on it just yet, because while it's not havoking, one hammer arm can easily dish out hits of around 4000. Next, a revision to Civil Offense: ![]() It's a definite improvement over the last iteration, but not by too much. It uses the same chassis as before, the only things that have changed were the weapon and armor setups. The new weapon setup is lower to the ground, eliminates the need for excessive frontal armor, and allows it to juggle its opponents easier. Using the weight gained, I managed to add some rear armor, which the last version critically lacked, and at the same time, keep the front just as protected. Finally, something completely random I came up with: ![]() 5mm titanium, 4 ants, 28 large beater bars, 34 razor tips, one 40cm side panel, caster, and DSL disc serving as armor. Not really sure about this one. It works best as an anti-VS, but I think with some fine-tuning it can be more than that. Overall, nothing spectacular, but I didn't want to just sit and watch my showcase rot any longer. 251

A bit late, but I'll do predictions anyway:
Popit: Interesting armor setup there, but I wonder if it can self-right. Altifood: Wedge looks pretty steep and the stance it pretty narrow; I don't see it doing very well. Uncommon Cold: Interesting... weapon doesn't seem so good though. Epic Wave Swinger: I sort of like this, but I'm not too sure about that wedge. Rusty Syringe: ... Trifecta: lolwut Lighter Shades of Dark Grey: Generally this design doesn't perform well against other wedges, and seeing how wedges make up 2/3 of the competition, this will not fare well. The weapon still looks deadly. Baguenaudez Près De Ça!: Looks pretty fragile, but still well-built. Death Excavator: A rammer in a tournament full of popups won't last long, but apart from that it's very well built. Flying Monster: It's pretty cool looking and might pose a threat to most of the wedges here, but against anything else... meh. Red Hot Lava: Looks like a very good flipper, albeit a bit slow and with a very exposed chassis. Evolve Or Be Spun Everywhere: That thing's not going to de-weapon anything but if it spins fast enough it just might beat one of the many wedges. As If I Give A Flying Melon: Popup? Looks very well armored either way. Poke-A-Bot: Strangely one of my favorite bots here, but I'm not sure about the wedges. Bear Trap: Looks very deadly, just might take the championship. Shaver BXXXXX: Apart from maybe the weapons it doesn't look very good IMO. Hidden Strike: Not sure how many weapons it's packing, but the armor looks pretty tough. Press This Bot To Be Eaten: I can only see other bots eating IT really. Table Eater: Decent shell spinner, nothing more. A-Bomb: Good looks and possibly good wedges too, I see this doing well. Block From Hell: Decent VS, good weapons, good armor, poor-looking wedges. Turbine: Very deadly looking FS/juggler. Another one of my picks to win the tournament. Seeing Stars: I'm surprised this design performs so well. However its success here depends on whether or not it gets shoved around easily. insignificant: Name describes it pretty well. Not as good as Epic Wave Swinger, but at least it has more armor than it. Shovel-Headed Blockbuster: Looks like a very good popup, if a bit narrow. Macro Vulcan: Effective looking flipper; I think it will do very well. Bot That Must Not Be Named: Unlike what Sage said I think it has the potential to do well here. Sorta unique looking too. Disc of Doom and Gloom: AKA Last Minute Piece of sh**. It might beat some opponents, but more than likely history will repeat itself and it'll just get shoved out of the arena. Fit This In Your Purse, Ben: lol, but really I can't see it winning. Crush, Kill, Destroy: The hammers don't look too deadly, but it still looks decent. Game Over: For some reason I don't see this faring well. 258

You really like it Naryar? It's honestly crap!
OK it might win a few matches, but if it comes up against a half-decent wedge, SnS or FSS it's screwed. Oh well, it's what happens when you've had no ideas for months. 260
