BFE lets you attach anything to anything, break the rule of 7, and even stack multiple parts on the same attach point. It also lets you attach parts to nothing, so you can have loose weapons laying around that act as landmines.
Which is why it needs to be regulated if you allow it. Kind of like custom parts--there's no limit to what you can do.

He means that with BFE, you can attach razor tips to the baseplate, making them invincible.
Or better yet, attach weaponized 20cm extenders to the baseplate. 2 kgs, 100 DP, and infinite HP.
So you could easily make a bot covered in invincible weapons. Therefore ruining the tournament.
If you allow BFE/AAM in a tournament, it needs to be regulated. Heavily.
Example: "You can use BFE/AAM for stacking, and nothing else."
Or, "You can use BFE to change the base type of components, and nothing else. (So you can make servo HP Z-teks, or weaponized extenders and stuff.)"
Edit: this was in reply to roboman saying "Wha?", which he apparently deleted.

Rules: 1:This will be Stock AW (Maximum weight 125.0 kgs.) 2:No nasty pickles or like that 3:Cheatbot2 & custom parts are not allowed 4:This competition is for 16 5:Arena will be reskinned Small arena
Looks like new rules? Good. How long are the matches going to be? Personally, I would do just 1 minute, since stock AW battles tend to be... somewhat less than mind-blowingly awesome. I might enter Soul Weevil, being one of the only 2 stock AW's I've built. Edit: never mind, it doesn't really work in the Small Arena. The floor has too much friction.

can I please scream ? lol trying out the BBEANS AI it was a case of What If ? what if I entered the robot I built before my entry Shock Therapy? would it fare any better ? or worse ?
the robot which I thought was one of my worst defeated one of the most feared bots in the tournament ??? (guess using it n00b Warz is out of the question :P)
in conclusion thats why I wish to could turn back time :P The Infinite is better than Shock Therapy because it has more reach. The main reason ST lost to SandStorm was because the weapons were too short to hit it. Good job OOTA'ing Absolute Chaos.

I'm back to working on it now; messing around with friction at the moment, trying to make ground-scraping wedges less good or at least harder to use. I've run into a problem with the tank treads under high friction though, so I don't know if I'll be able to implement it...

some of the Easter eggs are cool, but... (in white text) spoiler warning if you want to find it yourself
Open bbhaz.py in the Arenas folder. (I disguised all the file names for the easter eggs to keep people from finding out about it. Apparently that didn't work with all these modders eager to inspect the AI py's.) Find the line in bbhaz.py that says "in_list = False" and change it to True, or just delete it. You'll now have the Epic Showdown arena.Out of curiosity, has anybody found the big easter egg WITHOUT snooping around in files they're not supposed to pay attention to?

Is 5 seconds long enough for the wall movement to make a difference?
Cool idea. It might look better if instead of going up, the walls retracted into the floor though. Then bots also wouldn't get crushed underneath them when they came down.
On, and for the tournament, you might want to make those walls more transparent, because they are going to interfere with the camera like that.

As far as getting your bots back goes, all of your BBEANS entries are in the recently released BBEANS AI Pack (shameless plug). But that's all I know of.

smartzoneround.txt and smartzonetall.txt are missing their associated GMF files. Oops. Well, at least this is a case of... um... whatever the opposite of "omission" is, instead of omission. smartzoneround and smartzonetall are not used in this pack. I must have accidentally included those txt files when I was copying Mad's smart zones. You can go ahead and delete those files.

awesome work click, I cant wait to try it out on .. err RA2 number 23 :P (I should really clear out some) Do what I do... don't make multiple copies of the whole game, just switch out AI folders when you want to play different opponents. Of course, if you do that with the BBEANS AI you should know that it comes with a selectbot_computer.gib file that gets rid of the 6-bot AI team modification. So make sure to make a backup.

I can't believe no one has mentioned Chocolate yet.
Anyway, like Chocolate, that bot looks horribly unstable. I've tried making full body hammers like that, but I've only had success with designs more like Timber and Downfall. You need a wider stance and less reliance on the chassis as an extender.
However, that bot does look pretty powerful.

Not only do I love to eat tofu... but one of my first effective bots was named "Tofu Delivery" (a reference to the anime Initial D)
Video: Wow, dang... that video is old.
Excellent bot! I agree with PWN too :P Wow, one of Firebeetle's best MW rammers back in the pre-forum days was called Tofu. Why is Tofu such a popular bot name? It makes no sense! FB was just being random when he named that bot! Anyway, that bot looks really good. I've always thought about making a SnS like that but never actually done it.

Looks like it could use some side stabilizers. But everything else about it looks good.

So, it is a hammer/flipper? You got a spiffy AI line written for that? It works kind of like a cheesier, saltier version of Diesector. Didn't need anything too special; I just used Topknot.py.

Hasn't been confirmed yet, but I don't see how anyone could consider my bot too good: Interesting story behind this bot. A long time ago, Firebeetle and I were at a robot combat event (I think it was the Triangle Series Nationals) where Wedge of Doom was competing. The announcer at the event was talking about how you can make a bot name out of practically anything if you just add "Of Doom" at the end. Sort of poking fun at Wedge of Doom. Seeking an example, he saw a member of the audience eating out of a box of Wheat Thins, so he said, "Why, you could even make a bot called Wheat Thins Box of Doom!" So naturally, once we got home FB promptly made a bot called Wheat Thins Box of Doom, and scanned all the panels of a box of Wheat Thins to skin it. Not to be outdone, I went and made Cheez-It Box of Doom the same way. I didn't really know what I was doing design-wise, so it turned out pretty bad even for that time. And thus was born my N00b Warz bot. On another note, I'm confused about some of the bots people are calling "too good". I haven't seen any bots I would call too good so far, here or in anyone's showcase. Heck, a lot of you said Somestrangeguy's wacky HS/VS hybrid with 4 maces was too good, yet no one has mentioned Big Box, which has twice as many maces. Also, wasn't the original Big Box a SHW with a maximum-size chassis filled with a bunch of random weapons? Or am I thinking of something else. I don't actually remember the bot, I just remember you (Redline) talking about it.

Like a combination wammer/juggler. Neat idea. That would let the bot still do damage when the opponent is on its wedge.

IMO it would simplify your life greatly if you just didn't allow custom components. There are plenty of real bots you can replicate with just the stock DSL parts.
Also, fighting in the Combat Arena may make it fair for bots that are versus flippers, but what about the flippers? They have no way to win (turtling is a long shot because the AI doesn't detect when the enemy is non-invertible and upside down).

So it's just an "anything" BOTM? Not "anything", it's still stock and you still need 2 snowplows on your bot. But to vote based on most original is interesting. Not sure how it will work out, but it will be interesting.

2 LWs 2 MWs 2 Hws.
No AWs/BWs? I'm probably going to submit my Sacrifice bots, so I'll make an AI for them that will work with Drowning Pool.
