General Support / Re: What is Frequency (in txt)

Humm, I just tested.  Frequency does add to how fast it deals damage.  Or at least frequency 1 to frequency 100 makes a huge difference.

So what does this mean when it's in a weapon txt?

frequency = 10

Specifically I would like to know how that translates into seconds, so I can have a sense of how to include this while maintaining balance in the game.

it memory serves the Ant Battery was so good becasue it was intended for use on ant robots? so they didnt have to waste weight on more batteries ?

just something to think about when working out balancing ?
If that's the idea, you can simply lower the value of X in the equation, and that will mean Ant batteries getting nerf as well  (though others will probably still get a boost).  If any 1 battery is > everything else, for whatever reason, then there are no point in having other batteries at all.

A suggestion for balancing batteries

Electotal = (x*(kg^2))/AMP

If we balancing according to the current ant batteries, let x = 4000.

You can also add a minor bonus to larger batteries by changing from ^2 to ^2.01 --> ^2.1.

I think slim wheels look better on this.

*Kicks Sparkey because he's still saying sh***

Ballasts are probably the worst kind of components. Seriosuly, it's the only component that just adds weight without anything else or any other possibility.

Not to mention real life... what kind of builder puts ballasts in his bot ?
Don't we all dump in huge amount of kg just to make our wedge slightly better?  I know ballast is useless in DSL, but we did move from 120 poly skirts to flipper/small wedge or dslbar/small wedge.  Not to mention the sacrifice in durability.

If I am hearing your properly it's not that you are against spending KG to make your wedge better, but just that extender/wedge will outwedge a ballast/wedge setup with the same kg.

x1.5 damage output for weapons with normals ? This is just rammer's and poker's paradise...
Rammers and Pokers?  What about Popups?  You know you can easily dictate the direction of impact with one of those.

TBD.  I have some formulas worked out that I will use to rebalance all the components, incorporating fracture, normals, and relative size into the component's base stats.  Should probably try to include number of attach points too, since parts with more attach points tend to get used more.
You never know if a formula will truly be balanced until you plug all the numbers in, especially if you make the formula too complex.  While I am satisfy with a wheel rebalanced formula I made, I think I tried about 6 formulas for motors already and I still couldn't get one to be balanced after seeing the kind of numbers it spits out.  I suggest plugging everything in an excel spreadsheet before the actual txt.

Don't know if this is good or bad, but if there are part imbalance, you will most likely find me exploiting them.

You need more drive (minimum 4 Etek), and put ant batteries where ever you can fit them.  Moving armor to steel 10 can also use up some of the weights.

If the extra KG on ballasts let you outwedge more bots, then sure.  The problem then becomes, how many bots does the ballast actually help outwedge?

Files used
Low Lag Arena from Beetle Bro Site, Compiler/Decompiler on GTM download section

Here's the whole pack
https://gametechmods.com/uploads/files/error.zip

new.gmf is the decompiled file, lowlag.gmf is the file after recompiling, original is also included in the zip file.

If this means anything, I am using Window XP 64-bit edition.

Yeah the floor is a bit dark.  Here is a lighter version.  Feel free to change the color scheme if you don't like it.

As for camera, here's the modified the static camera angles.  I don't really know how to get the others to look right.

You would need a lot more weapons than that.  Even a regular HW has 220kg worth of weapons nowadays, and this thing is 2681kg.

nice job 123,
Thanks.  Do you know how to change the camera angles by any chance?

Well, that's that.  I don't know why the compiler change the color.  Now I just need to change starting camera angle.

But then, if it automatically reverse the color, does that mean I can just decompile/recompile this to get blue again?  Not that I really hate this color per say.

Edit:  It really works

Beetle Bros is a fixed version of Dummies so use that

try to Decompile with Serge's and Recompile with FB's
That just end up crashing my game (with nothing else done to the file).

Like I said I couldn't do it because none of the GMF compiler/decompiler is working on my machine.

Aside from the mess up color, how do I fix bot facing after I got the starting position?

serges just give me a bunch of error message when I try to compile the file, even when I made no changes to the file at all.

Edit:  I download the original dummy GMF and the fix version, have the mess up color like the one I got off from beetle bro's site.
