i have made "Core" Chassis' that have been used to build multiple bots, get one bot with Base-plates/extenders, drive, batteries and control board into a tight chassis then export it and keep trying to build of that.

Rammers and sit and spinners only really need 2 motors, i want to see variety and creativity.. it might seem like "oh man i got 1 less Motor so now i can't make my generic HS" but it should be more "OK i got 1 less motor then this other guy, he could build a generic HS so I'm going to build something with heavily armored arms to stop his spinner and my weapon in the middle to go to town on his exposed motor".

just think Pop-ups were new once, so were flail weapons and jugglers. when someone comes up with a new idea a lot of people are like "oh man why didn't i think of that?" well it's because they follow old trends :)
you just need to play around with different weapon/armor setups in different positions on your bots.

hey guys i would love some suggestions for weapon combos on par with these:
2 Iron Spikes, 2 Maces 2 Mower Blades, 4 Razor tips 1 Iron spike, 2 Razor tips, 2 Maces 2 single sided ice picks, 2 maces
the more combos i have the more randomness in weapons there is and that means more variety in bots which is great for everyone!
on a side note i was thinking of doing the first ever live broadcast, so if anyone knows any good sites where i can stream to i could host the draw live.

Try not to be so generic when building bots, try stuff no one else has thought of yet. Look at some of Clickbeetles and MikeNCR's work for inspiration.
People will like your bots more if they haven't seen them before, just my opinion though :)

i think it has no wedge so it would be in a lot of trouble.

sadly it wouldn't let me attach the extender so the connection point faces out in a straight direction over the blade. the mower is there for protection mostly and i can't remember if it helps break off other robots weapons while still.

bursts and pistons would be under motors.

2 razors would only make a fail weapon though
not on a Pop-up, anyway that list was just an example.. the actual list would be more balanced. interesting (and I guess unlimited extenders ?)
yep power and extenders you could use freely.

I had an idea today about a new type of tourney that would get people to be more creative, it's called a robot cookbook tournament.
the basic idea is that you are given a list of components you are to use in building your entry, these components are drawn randomly for each person who enters.
for example the cookbook could look like this (would be much bigger):
Motors: - 2 HP z-teks - 3 HP z-teks - 2 RAD's, 1 Normal z-tek
Wheels: - Shiny hubs - mini wheels - granny wheels
Weapons: - 8 razor tips - 4 Iron spikes - 2 razor tips, 2 Mower blades
Extras: -Snow plow -Small wedge -Forklift arm.
I could draw 2 RAD's, 1 normal Z-tek, Shiny hubs, 2 razor tips, 2 mower blades and a forklift arm and i would need to make a robot using those components.
thoughts?

Had to be done... on impact the Bot tips over hopefully crushing the other bot under it's razor claw in the process :)

Yeah I'm trying not to be generic that's why some of my bots will have less weapons then your average LW Flail Sheck spinner :P Steel 1, added a cutting Tooth at the top, weighs exactly 249 :D

yeah i know :P i thought you were talking about the juggler. I'm still thinking of a way to make the drum realistic.

yeah i was thinking about using an extender or beater bar instead, will try that. how doesn't it appear realistic? nothing passes through any other part (unlike the FB Drum) and I used no stacking.
