DSL TC Showcases / Reier's Showcase

Reier is right. You can easily make the blue CB stick out of the chassis, and most of the time its ugly.

Discussion / glitches
« on: January 30, 2009, 11:31:36 AM »
Well, the only glitches allowed on a bot in classic Stock tournaments are the building ones: eFFeing, snapper loading, DSA, axle loading, and stacking. You can't use a glitch for weapon (Trinity spinners), excepted maybe the rupt glitch. Plus most tournaments ban crawlers.

In DSL you have the realistic rule (most of the time)

Twin lasers and nuke guns doesn't even exist.

Plus i have a house rule that says: not more than 3 components on each ship part.

Arena is pretty good for my HnM and it was a best choice than InfCon 4.

Was expecting an open arena (seeing Wham's passion for RW), but the house robot was a HW at start !

...Whatever. Can't wait for the splash.

Toxin Ant looks great, excepted from aluminium.

Wouldn't Tsetse Fly (still well built) be better with lighter motors (even copals) and Hypno wheels?

any ideas on how to make it better? dunno what to do with the other weight.

You have 50kgs to work with, use them

*Ahem*

I like that design, although it needs to be worked.

I'd add more defense, shrink the chassis, put a blade on the extender, swap the black and the snapper to have a shorter extender, put the snapper horizontally to have a flatter wedge, and if there is only one black batt, you could add a nifty or another black. Disregard that if it's 2 stacked batts but i can't tell.

Stacking Snapper II's isn't too difficult, just takes time. You must attach the first snapper, then position the second in the EXACT same position (or nearly) as the first, try to attach it by moving it around (slightly), and this works on either attachment point.

@Phil: Hmm... In my experience, the less the wedge touches the ground, the more force it applies on it (by skirt), the better it is. That's why i prefer having two skirts rather than angled ones.

Burst wedges are a good idea, although in no way i can use them to flip the opponent because i haven't enough battery power to do that. Still i'll try the angled wedges.

Chassis is huge.

Also, not more than 2 snappers on a 36 iron.

Stack the blacks and the snappers, too.

And Somebody i bet you can actually have protection on a 36 mace HS.

Built two heavies this morning -

Asmodeus (technically, one of the most powerful demons according to Jewish legends)

5mm Ti, 6 ant batts (would gladly have 8 but it's really compact), Perm 80 weaponry, NPC fasts for drive motors and metal hinge wedges.

Not as good as i expected, notably in stability and damage (Battle Scar is better in DPS).

Dunno what to add next.

And the other - Stormgrip

This one is even worse. Asmodeus was decent but Stormgrip is shamefully average. Unstable as heck, the 6 razors break easily and these plows annoy me when turning. 3mm Ti, 4 battlepacks & 3 ant batts

It destroyed easily Grizzly Bear, but has issues pinning Grog (Yes, Stormgrip was designed to be a HS killer), it can't beat WIIDE LOAD and most of the other HW's were tough fights.

Fights that i'm really awaiting:

-Sage VS Reier - Two really good builders, Sage being better than Reier but still...
-Naryar VS H@zm4t - Well, first it's mine. If Haz is still going to stick to Mako wedges i don't like my chances.

-Sage VS Urjak VS Naryar (Don't like my chances against Sage but i might be the first to reach the hill) will be a nice match i think.

-R0B0 VS Reier - HELL YEAH ! Like Sage VS Reier, but better.

___________

Both of Wham and S32 have bad luck.

beating El Diablo isn't that impressive...

I was going to say the same thing. ED is 500 kg and has Stock drive and batteries.

4WD ant = weight wasted. You're most of the time better with powerful 2WDs than average 4WDs (example: NPC fasts with Techno Destructo wheels is lighter, more powerful and less draining than 4WD Magmotor drive with Hypno wheels). So I'd recommend Astroflights with hypno wheels. And yeah you can make it invertible.

Coming of Exile and Call of Exile both look nice.

Lithium looks like it lacks sufficient battery power to last long, Sodium's weapons look relatively weak, and it's very glitchy, Potassium seems very slow, Rubidium is a shameless DOAM clone, but it looks good, Cesium is a slow Grog clone, and Francium is good, but it's just InfCon + Shebeast.

Solid bots, but something more unique would be nice.

Don't worry, I changed the battery setup

AND Caesium's wheels to hypno ones.

Francium is decent but despite my efforts drives like a bitch (not straight)

General Support / Stock patch 1.3 crashes game

Must be your comp.

Can you make it work with the 1.2 patch? You don't really need the 1.3 unless you have a nVidia.

Certainly not the patch. Maybe your RA2 install...

You could try this: https://gametechmods.com/uploads/files/Robot Arena 2.rar
It's a version of RA2 with the 1.3 patch already installed.

If it doesn't works, well, it's your comp.
