Do a search in Notepad++ for "1 12 0 100" (for regular aluminum) or "0 8 0 80" (for plastic).
You'll find two lines that look something like this.
1 12 0 100 0 0.19975 0.19975 0.19975 0.85 20
That second line there determines the strength and color of the chassis shine. The first three numbers are red, green, blue values (from 0 to 1) and the last two have to do with shininess. I would say what the first line does, but that would enable cheating! To get DSA, change them to this:
1 12 0 200 0 1 1 1 1 0
And if you're feeling creative, you can add a custom chassis shine. That's one form of BFE that's completely legal, since it in no way affects your bot's performance.
Mad and Pys's strategy is exactly what I wanted BW and Synergy to do, but I don't have Trov's mad AI skillz, so I have to just hope it works out for me :3
You could kindly ask Sage if you could switch AI, and Mad if you could "borrow" some py's...
J/K Rowling? I don't think that would be fair to Mad/Trov.
I thought about making some very similar custom AI with a SnS and a pushy bot, where each bot would keep track of the other's location and try to avoid it, and even possibly have the pushy bot maneuver and try to push opponents into the SnS. Even started fiddling around with some code to identify friendly vs. enemy bot ID's. But I got lazy and never finished it. It's a daunting task, what Mad and Trov are doing.
But one problem I see for the upcoming HW version is that HSes in the HW division tend to have a wide stance, meaning they could hit the weapon extenders.
Yeah, well, it's not really designed to take on HS's. Longbow is pretty much ONLY good against wedges and VS's and a few other bots with an exposed bit of chassis. I'm more worried about the greater prevalence of armor on wedges in the HW division--particularly caster armor.

And I also <3 your new avatar. =))
Thanks, I saw Somebody's Pikabob and had to know what the reverse looked like. And once I made it, well then might as well make it my avatar while I'm at it... don't worry, it won't be permanent.
You can make the chassis a tad narrower, which will let the casters stick out to the sides more, which will protect the bot's front corners. That will help against HS.
And if you can get the weight, you should use Snapper 2's or DDTs for the wedges. Snapper II's generally aren't good for wedges.
But otherwise there is really nothing you can do to make the bot better. It's pretty much at the pinnacle of its design.
Also, I think this thread should be reserved for non-RA2 questions. You can just post in general discussion or tech support for RA2 questions.
On that note, does anyone know the origins of the Shoop da Whoop? I actually just found out about it yesterday (yes I'm behind the times like that) and then, weirdly, I just saw that Clash Cubes teaser video JoeBlo made today. I know it has something to do with some guy from Dragonball Z, but where did the "IMMA FIRIN MY LAZER" come from?
Ah... hehe, yeah, it would be pretty bad if the razors started out extended and clamped down! I thought it was clear how it worked from the battle shots...
Basically it's a "stack as many spikes in one spot as possible" rammer.
The Snappers only fire when a bot gets under Longbow, so it doesn't slow it down, it's just a way for it to hit bots that are under it. The main purpose of the Snappers is to get all the razors in one small area.
As for not delivering big hits, that much is true, it's not anything like a popup weapon. But it's better than being totally helpless when a bot is under you.
I thought about pistons, but didn't use them for several reasons: a) They can't hit bots that are underneath. b) They are bigger and require an air tank, and Longbow is already at 399.0 kgs.
And a side hammer setup would be useless except for stacking. A possibility, to just ditch the popup defense, but that's something for a totally different bot.
Nice combination of hammers and flails. What you want to do with that, though, is have the flails be longer than the hammers, so the fails hit first and once they fold in and the opponent gets close, the hammers act like a second line of offense so the other bot doesn't have all these juicy 400 HP flails to rip off. That was kind of the idea behind the original Grog, the Vengeful.
So try mounting those hammers with the other attach point and see if that helps.
Whoa, EH3 was the most recent stock bot I posted? I guess all the bots I made after that have been for BOTM...
Here's a new type of rammer that I made.
DSA, 8 razors (4 per Snapper), 1 Supervolt, 4WD.
Popups beat rammers right? Well not this rammer. The idea was to make a fast rammer with all of its weapons focused into as small an area as possible, so if you hit that one area, you always take the maximum damage possible. And since I used Snappers to overlap the razors, Longbow also has the ability to fire its weapons to hit bots that are under it or on top of it, although this is more of a last-ditch desperation move than a viable tactic (although it has come in handy on a few occasions).
Obviously, a rammer with 8 razors is no good against other rammers or HS (unless I can get a miracle OHKO, which has happened). But wedges, and any bot with any exposed chassis in the middle is fair game. In fact Longbow can consistently 2-second-one-hit KO most bots with a flat chassis exposed in the middle, like TC9 or Averst. Wedges are more difficult to OHKO, but it can consistently bring them to critical HP with a single hit and then finish them off with a few more. Even armored popups aren't safe. Longbow can take off ram plates in one hit, and once the chassis is exposed it's anyone's game.
All the battleshots in the splash are AI battles, except the ones with damage points shown. And that damage? No rammer-on-rammer foolery here, that's from a pure chassis hit
Yay, a Dark Pounder-style wedge VS. I like that bot. Kind of like if you took Heaven's Sawmill and turned it into a gut-ripper design instead of grab-and-throw.
I like that bot. 2 pinks is enough for a 2WD rammer (each motor drains 100 power and each battery supplies 100). And I also try to avoid using Snapper II's whenever possible. I pretty much only use them in HS's. The reason being that I still don't fully accept them as "stock". Sure they're effectively stock now for all intents and purposes, but I joined these forums in the days when even using AI parts was considered a crime, and nobody would even THINK of using some glitchy prototype motor that was accidentally included with the game. I still have some of that mindset.
It's because of the physics engine, nothing ever wants to stay perfectly still. I've just gotten used to it--you really only notice it if your bot sits still for a long time.
If it really bothers you a lot, you can use tank treads. Those won't wobble at all. Also, the more polys a wheel has, the more stable it will be. Stock wheels like Slipperbottoms and shiny hubs generally shake more than DSL wheels like Techno wheels and Vlad wheels.
Cool beans. I'm not sure I agree with un-hiding ALL the cheatbot2 parts though. Some of them are good, but 90% of them are completely unusable (who's gonna put Matilda's head on their bot, seriously?) and the components list is unmanageably long with all those parts visible. Ever tried building a bot with cheatbot2 on? It's frustrating trying to find what you need...
Here's one from BBEANS5 where a Havok explosion happened every single fight. Only time a bot has lost 0-3 from Havok (Iron Spaghetti was finally KO'd in round 3).
I will enter if I can find a LW that's bad enough. Odd as it sounds, I'm afraid even the FIRST LW I EVER MADE might be too good. It's a SnS with 1 battle axe, which is certainly bad, but it has HP Z-tek drive with slim wheels and spins really fast.

so it will poke out the back of the DDT, and then attach something heavy there. Or just make the extender long. If the counterweight is long enough, it doesn't need to be very heavy because leverage will make up for it.
