Nope, basically none of that stuff is good.
Tracks are a pain in the butt to work with and can come off or get cut, killing your ability to move. Two spark gearmotors aren't enough for a beetleweight pushy bot. (Mike uses two of them in his ant) Really nonrecharable batteries in a battery holder. (not enough voltage and it's gonna cost a lot in the long run) Vex robotics chasis kit? First off that's cold roll steel. Second off thats 1/3 of your weight. Excluding armor. Thirdly thats just gonna be huge. 24 gauge wire is way way way too small. You around 18 gauge wire. Seeing as you are kinda clueless in terms of robot design, might I intrest you in one of these beetleweight drum spinner kits? The robot it's based off of consistently wins and places top 3 in events. http://kitbots.com/product.sc;jsessionid=3A55668966C7E9407D7A9BBA4F0BB3A9.qscstrfrnt05?productId=19&categoryId=1 2205

I'll get something in very soon. I've got a lot of stoof going on right now and haven't has time to sit down and build something good and semioriginal. If it comes down to it I'll just send Jaws of Defeat again. :P

2. I wouldn't run them beyond 12-14v 3. I think so but you can probably get them with a different connecter if you ask Pete nicely. 2213

^ ![]() I kid, I kid but if you can convince your parents those are the motors to get. Or you could get these http://cgi.ebay.com/2-x-12V-1000RPM-Mini-Torque-Gear-Box-Motor-Hobby-DC-NEW-/280635501227?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item41572deaab But if you can only buy stuff from robot marketplace I gues you are just going to have to wait for the same motors I just gave you links for to get back in stock at robot marketplace. The 1000RPM motors and the B16 motors are the same motors just different brand. 2214

Tell your parents Alex from Team CWG told you to get different parts because the current ones you. Want will be a waste of money. Tell them the same things I've told you and make sure to tell them it's cheaper. If you can't convince them to let you get the other motors here is a more expensive alternative. http://www.robotmarketplace.com/products/0-B16.html
Spektrum 2.4GHz is only Spektrum .4GHz compatible. 2216

I told you to check out those motors I posted before. Two of them are great in weaponed beatleweights and four would kick butt in a pusher. Also with 3" wheels it would get around 8mph (rough mental math estimate) which is more than fast enough for a Beatleweight in a 8' X 8' arena. But if you don't want to cough up the extra $12 to buy them and have a underpowered bot feel free to do so. Also you don't need a switch per say. I use a removable power link in my 30lber. That's a fancy name for unplugging the battery and plugging it in right before the match. :P
Edit: http://kitbots.com/product.sc;jsessionid=F477ACD531DA7221708C8104829FC4CD.qscstrfrnt06?productId=20&categoryId=1 These motors are better than the ones you have in your screenshot and are cheaper. $12 VS $19 2217

If you have a 5v input you don't need a separate battery. That's why I said get a BEC. I'd tell you how to make one from parts you can get a radioshack but because you can't solder it won't be much help. :P

It's about $110 for a Spektrum DX5e with AR500 receiver combo at robotmarketplace. So if you buy a Spektrum you save $3 of the GWS which costs $113.

You can't drive a tank drive robot unless you have two channels.
Spektrum remotes have a ratchetring left stick (good for RC airplanes) and a springloaded right stick that always recenters itself. Most people drive only with the right stick because if this. If you have a ESC that has mixing (which you do) it's not a problem because one channel will control forward/backwards and the other channel will control left/right. |
