Should this bot be moved to the custom parts section because I have used cheat parts?

Nahhhhhhhh. :D  We will just learn from it and progress.  You have shown that you are pretty competent builder.  I think most of these savages are just waiting for you to post a totally legal bot so that they can tear it to shreds with constructive feedback.  We really like it when somebody competent starts a showcase, so you are going to get a bunch of attention.

Looking forward to more! Keep building and have fun.

I'm just like that (insane) some days, as Picnic Attack will tell you if he ever reappears on here.

Don't worry too much then. Many famous human beings through the history of time have been perceived to be insane. There is a good chance you are probably using your brain far more than the average person.

If you learn to channel some of the energy into something that makes a statement (art, music, writing, building, etc etc) you will be surprised what you might create. Exploring your mind is a neverending journey and it all starts with stepping outside a box.

Sooo... uhhh... What should we talk about while we are waiting? Is this a good time to actually derail this thread into off-topic-land. Seems appropriate. No?

In 3-8 Business days, I will be the proud owner of my first ever computer.
I'll keep y'all posted.

Rock on! Just so you know I brought RA2 (Starcore) with me to work today and installed it on a few laptops.  All of them ran the game fine with Windows 7.  Laptops that were equipped with the Radeon Vision or Nvidia chipsets would run the game fine, but had the screwed up menus and buttons (like Stagfish's screenshots).  Any of the laptops that I installed which had the Intel GMA ran the game perfect and quick. No menu problems or glitching at all.  I was rather pleased.  I think the only problem you will run into is what Roboshark encountered with saving files. (the files end up in a different "compatibility" folder).  I didn't have time to save anything because I actually had work to do.

But, as ACAMS said, it looks like RA2 should work fine on your new machine Reier. Congrats. Better check to see if your game recorder is Win7 compatible though.

Shameless note/brag: Thats a UHW multibot, so theres two of those in whatever UHW tourney coming first (in an open arena of course).

Wonder if you can AI them to avoid/not flip each other? hmmm.

Excelsior Stretch, that's a reference to Vigilante 8 2nd offense, right?

Why yes, yes it is. :P It's named after Lord Clyde's electricity-toting limousine. Good eye. ;) There is another 6-wheeled robot named Moon Trekker lurking about as well. It has a gimmicky satellite dish for show and some arms for lashing out at other robots with.

V8 is one of my favorite games of all time. The day it came out for Xbox Live Arcade I was all over it and nailed every single achievement (except the multilayer one since I don't have Live Gold) that night.

They have that on xbox live now? I had no idea. I still have my original Playstation verison kicking around somewhere. With carmageddon/roadtrip/twisted metal/etc etc.  :P   Car combat certainly never gets old.

How about we open up the possibility of BOTM involving teamwork?

There are several members here that are very good at building bots, but not as good with skins and splashes.

Other members are on the opposite end of things... good with splashes and skins... but not as good building bots. *raises hand*

Wouldn't that be kinda cool?  If BOTM was awarded to a team of two people that worked together to win?

I cant believe I tied with Sparkey...
It's better than last time when I got no votes at all though!

It was those hideous T connectors that did you in sir.  I think if you used tribars with double razors on each end people may have been more impressed with it.  Honestly, when I saw your bot I screamed: "Holy extender work Batman!" and moved on to the next pic.

RA2 will work, if it was nVidia graphics chipset then he would have to 1.3 patch it.....which he probably will anyway!

Well, there's some solid words for you Reier. From what it sounds like, ACAMS gives his technological blessing. I'm still going to test my machines at work though and post a report here in the next few days. I am still curious.

http://www.gateway.com/systems/product/529668385.php

^^ I've reeeeally got my eye on that one thar. If I get it at Radioshack, I will save $80, because 1. It's on sale for $50 less! :O 2. because I have a $30 giftcard for there anyway.

320 GB hard drive, 4 GB RAM, 15.6" screen, 5.84 lbs, blahblahblah. Sounds good for me. Just need to decide before the 6th because the sale expires then.

The only thing that concerns me is that it has a Non-Radeon graphics chipset.  If I were you... I would bring a copy of RA2 on a pocket drive to the store and load it on their floor demo to test it out.  If you don't feel comfortable with doing that (or if they are jerks and tell you no.)  I am thinking about bringing a copy of RA2 with me to work and testing it on all the laptops we sell for giggles. (I will see if any of them have the same chipset as your Gateway interest)

This isn't even fair...it's just Sage - JB - Click of the month. :P

harden up princess :P

@JD: that would just ruin it... I put in hours of effort being creative towards these things.

Think of it this way, If you won BOTM with a gray background and Courier font... you wouldn't have to take crap from nobody for the rest of your days.  :gawe:
