Robots Showcase / Re: my build diarys« on: December 04, 2011, 06:55:46 AM » , ill be suprised if i last 10 seconds with any thingi think this is the first robot i actually thought about weight distribution, the front is weighed down by the steel scooop while the batteries are just in front of each motor. i even have a rough idea where the 4QDs are going to go. by my calculations its about 83-84kgs so i need to add weight somewhere 232
Robots Showcase / Re: my build diarys« on: December 04, 2011, 04:37:11 AM »
what im worreid about is being too light, i mean that shwruption robot (don't know if you've heard of it) is solidly hardox with its fancy noooomatiks system and that is 96kgs (?) i have no hardox, no pnematics and pretty light motors.
hopefully the 8mm mild steel scoop will help add a bit of weight. you should be happy, at least i have found a weightclass i can't build cheaply in

i wont paint it then
![]() yes just a pusher, its costing quite alot as it is (for me anyway) it might have some hooks on top to stop people going straight over the top. got a strip of 2mm ti for the botom of the wedge, give me a bit lower ground clearance 234
Robots Showcase / Re: my build diarys« on: December 03, 2011, 01:35:02 PM »
its in my shed, its had all the paint stripped off and the frame is being cleaned up
going to make a cheapy ram bot before enter that, just to get a taste for what works an what doesnt 235

righty ho! its heavyweight time!
![]() thought i had better get my arse into gear and finaly start work on my first heavy becuse getting badly beaten in feathers and ants is SOOOO last year the plan is to build some thing cheap, reliable, heavy and moveing. the first one has already failed, but ah well tis only money ![]() since everthing seems to be a flipper nowadays invertable seemed was the only way forward (without buggering around with self righters or nooomatics) and having a wedge just seemed the sensible thing to do. going old tech with the parts atm i have 24v wheelchair motors (4 of them, so i have spares!) go kart tyres with hubs and some adapters made to fit them to the motor shafts 200 amp 4QD's for speed control 10a 12v sla's ( gonna be running 36v) 20mm HDPE sheets 20mm mdf ![]() mild steel box section the wedge is going to be 8mm thick mild steel, just to add a bit of weight and protection, the rest will be hdpe then a layer of wood. hopefully i can scratch shwruption's paintwork, that is the sole aim of this ![]() it takes great skill to design a wedge you know ![]() i'll update with some pictures when i get the frame welded up 236
