Hey. Most of you probably don't remember me.

I hopped back on here to use the file host and saw I had a couple messages. It made me think about this game again, so I went ahead and reinstalled it. It's still fun even though I haven't got any better at building since I joined GTM.

I was interested in robot fighting and building since I saw Battlebots for the first time when I was 3. I signed up to this site over 8 years ago, when I was 11, for help with the Battlebots AI pack. It soon became the most important part of my life during middle school, where I was miserable outside these forums due to mental health issues I was not aware I had. I left (again) around high school because I felt running tournaments and being actively involved in the forums would take time away from things I needed to do.

I read through my old posts, and my wiki page, and it kind of made me sad how bad of an impression I left. I wish I could have been good at something like building, or running tournaments (other than Battlebots), or being a decent community member that would have helped me become a more integral part of GTM.

Still, I'm posting now even though I've been lurking for a bit because I'm almost 20 now, I'm at a good place in my life, and I wanted to say thank you to GTM, and to all you guys who were here when I was, for giving me support and friendship during the hardest times of my life without ever meeting me.

I'll be more active now and entering some tournaments for good measure.

How do you determine which bots get eliminated?

The losing team's performances will be evaluated, and the 2 to 4 bots who performed the worst will face off against each other.

Crawling in my skin
These wounds they will not heal
Fear is how I fall
Confusing what is real

There's something inside me that pulls beneath the surface
Consuming, confusing
This lack of self-control I fear is never ending
Controlling. I can't seem...

To find myself again
My walls are closing in
(without a sense of confidence and I'm convinced that there's just too much pressure to take)
I've felt this way before
So insecure

Discomfort endlessly has pulled itself upon me
Distracting, reacting
Against my will I stand beside my own reflection
It's haunting how I can't seem...

There's something inside me that pulls beneath the surface consuming,
Confusing what is real.
This lack of self-control I fear is never ending controlling,
Confusing what is real.

Ok, I think it's time for a tiny rant

Since when in ra2 did you get sent to the slaughterhouse for building something fun? It quite clearly states it was an experiment, so there's no need to be assertive about it, I just thought of an idea, and built it, and thought it could be done better by other builders, as stated in my original post. Since when was it a sin to muck around and see what can be done, and tbh I'm not one of these venko types in the bot lab who takes decades, I have other things to do

[\rant mainly directed at Kurts post]

It doesn't help the fact that I can't get any bloody sleep as well, IRL issues, don't ask

please guys vg showdown 2 will happen i promise

I feel like I need to do this for my own mental stability. HA has probably been my biggest regret on GTM, as it was my first tournament and I had no idea how to format it. I've been thinking for a good couple years and I've finally got it down.

Rules:

- Ironforge MW
- Standard DSL-ish building rules. However, if you want to build IRL, it will be accepted.
- 3 minute matches
- 1 Havok restart, 2nd time eliminated
- BFE, AAM, NCR, Thyrus glitches not allowed
- No hax mode
- Cannot use DSA
- Multibots are not allowed
- No armor attached directly to the chassis of the robot
- Cheatbot2 components are not allowed
- Each bot must have at least 2 wheels

Format:

Bots will be split up into two teams. The first two people to enter will get to pick teams. Each episode (round), one entrant will me eliminated. It is possible that two or even zero robots will be eliminated in an episode, but it is unlikely. If teams are uneven by 2, then they will be evened out. Teams will continue until the final 6, where the competition will turn to individual. The last bot standing wins.

The good news about this format is that I can essentially take any amount of robots, as long as it is an even number (so teams will be even).

So yeah. Let me know if there's anything I need to add/remove. Feedback is appreciated.

Contestants:

1. yug1tom
2. TBD Devastator
3. System32
4.
5.
6.
7.
8.

Modifications / Re: Robot Wars RA2 - OFFICIAL MOD
« on: September 10, 2014, 09:30:48 PM »
Hi everyone

Not posted on here in ages but I've been following the work on this (which is excellent by the way), and since everyone seems to be debating these "mysterious contracts" I thought I'd clear some stuff up :P

Sadly there is a lot of politics that goes on behind the scenes. The contracts simply allow Robot Wars to use the image of whatever robots they are signed for. We are not in any way "trademarked" to Robot Wars or involved in the RW/RL "rivalry" and most roboteers will continue to support both. Simply put the contracts just give permission for the image of our robots to be used in things such as this.

Obviously there is a lot more to it than that but that is for the roboteers and EOs :)

Hope that helps and all credit to those involved in this mod because it looks fantastic!

ohmygoditsvertigo

anyway i never watched rw and i am 100% behind this mod. keep up your great work everyone

we should do something like this:

That'll be cool, but which game should we do?
Also, should we show screens?
we could record, we should put up a poll for the game

my suggestion is super mario bros 1
I vote The Legend of Zelda. BattleToads, Super Mario Bros. 3, and Kid Icarus.
