Existing Games / Re: Robot Wars:Arenas of Destruction
« on: June 07, 2017, 01:22:12 PM »
Thought I'd bring this topic back to life, with a video of the game. Although I've figured out how to mod this game, along with Robot Wars Extreme Destruction, it's extremely moddable. Here I increased the power of the house robots weapons. Afterwards, I realised I might have increased it just a little too much :baffled:

Now she's got her horns added. Also some adjustments to the tusks.

The spikes on the back received a small update. They were slightly too big, according to what I've seen on the new Matilda. So I shrunk them a bit...

Creativity Showcase / The tusks into place

The tusks are now "molded".

EDIT: Further updates

EDIT2: Tightening the space between the neck shield and the tusks...

EDIT3: ... With the tusks raised. Like Jonathan Pearce said, she can flip with the force of a tonne now.

Well if you skin them.. you can export as obj file, and port it into RA2
Apanx created an app that converts obj designs into bot files
I'll think about it... maybe, maybe not. It depends on how much detail I want to add to them. I want them to look as realistic as possible. I underlined possible because I am by no means a veteran in Blender. But I've used it since 2015-2016.

226
What are you gonna do with her, after she's done?
Umm... good question... I was thinking... maybe for Robot Arena 2 or 3? Who knows... maybe I'll keep them secret to myself XD I don't know...

Well I never... thought it would go this well. I like the progress so far

More progress...

Sure. Here you go.

what settings are you using to export your .obj with? i was having a similar issue until i set my vertices to unwelded in the obj export settings
Hmm, I use the default Blender export to .obj options. Just to try and see what happened when I used OBJ2RA2, with no result...

Dear community...

It makes me kind of "frightened" to see how LONG this WIP topic has existed... like, 7 years? Wow...

Anyways, I thought I would blow the dust out of this topic by saying that I AM working in Blender on a brand new model of Matilda right now! I will be making the house robots after all (no deadline set, yet...) as they appeared in 2016 to the present day.

Right now my biggest challenge is to actually model them, as Robot Wars themselves through Facebook replied to me, telling me that the plans for the house robots are highly classified...

But I won't let that stop me. I WILL be making them

I tried using Blender to do this, but it won't convert my .obj file to a .bot file? Faces are indeed exported as triangulated...

The .sav file is extremely small, so I begin to believe it MUST be some value or string in the main .gba that changes something, like adding the house robots name somewhere etc.

Ooh yeat.. that is that WP app?
What are its GFX options? How fancy GFX can go?
WP? No, this is a emulator running on Windows as a .exe.

EDIT: I am comparing a start, "empty" .sav file with a more "complete" .sav file now in HxD to see what the difference is.

Good luck.. there are like 300000 lines
For me it says in HxD 4194304 decimal lines. But I don't get discouraged because of that. I made the house robots playable in Robot Wars Arenas of Destruction. Although that was on the PC, so it was a little easier... but I want them playable on the Game Boy Advance version and I want it badly. Now though, I'm going to search for clues...

I tried to find HB's in Find window only to find nothing
The names Matilda, Sergeant Bash (Sgt Bash), Shunt, Dead Metal and finally Sir Killalot are located at offset beginning at 11ABDC in the .gba file

That i know..
I just cant locate simmilarities of them.. in any other form
Also what emulator are you using? Im trying mGBA but it always freezes at the press start screen
I use VisualBoy Advance on Windows 10.

No dont quit.. it will take time to find the code. Im atm trying to find the code for RA2 for the body deformation. Im trying to make the deform thingy to work on low
I usually end up like this... quitting and then retrying again and again XD Alright, I'll check the .gba for any clues...

Why would i send gba file? It is same.. prolly nothing changed
No, what I meant was if you wanted me to send you the .gba file. But I guess you already had it. Oh well... I guess we'll have to quit then.
