DSL TC Showcases / Re: Kujii's Nutcase [DSL Bots]

Better, but I don't really see the point to that extra plow.  You can just use regular extenders attached to multi-extenders to hold the front plows, though you'll have to do a bit of rotating to get the angle you have now.

What you've done with the batteries is what we call "stacking", attaching two or more static components in the same spot.  This however isn't deemed acceptable in DSL because it is unrealistic.  I advise that you instead place the batteries around the inside of your chassis and fill up the unused space.

Edit: Damn you Bubbleman!

It's nice to see you finally building!

First off, those casters are useless, unless they're for bottom protection, in which case a couple of half-sheets would serve you better.

Second, unless you're trying to go for a hammer/rammer hybrid (in which case you would need more weapons), those razors aren't going to offer a lot of protection.  I suggest a couple heavy plows: you can gain the weight for one by removing the rear armor.

About the wheels, I suggest using Techno Wheels as they are 5 kilos lighter and have the same grip as the Wheely Big Cheese Wheels, but if you're using them for looks then that's fine.

Lastly, this will run fine with just one of those PC625s and a couple of ant batteries (Assuming that's a large JX burst motor, which you will need with a weapon that heavy.  If it's a small, you can get away with a PC545, the large orange battery, but you will need to lighten the weapon).

And you can add a wedge too, but don't be surprised if you ragequit trying to perfect it.

I think my first episode that I saw had some sit and spin bot similar to Gold Digger... but it was olive green I think.  I liked that bot for some reason.
You're probably thinking of Blade Runner.

You use something called the eFFe glitch.  Sage has a tutorial on it:

Holy crap it's really been that long?!

If so then I might as well do the same thing I did for my DSL showcase: post a bot dump.

First, a slight modification to Go Up Here:

Everything's the same as the last version, but I managed to shrink the chassis and get enough weight for 20cm longer wedges.

Next, a clone:

DSA, 15 maces, 3 razors, CB stacked in Nifty.

As you can probably tell, it can de-weapon its opponents with ease, though it also has enough power to knock away most wedges as well.  Couldn't find a way to use the remaining 5 kgs unfortunately.

A couple of DoD rejects:

The first one is a rammer with DSA and 12 razor tips.  The goal with it was to reach past HSs' weapons and hit vital components or outweapon them if possible.  It works, but not as well as I hoped, mostly because the main extender is an easier target for HSs than I thought.

The second was an attempt at a LW rupting flipper, using 2 Supervolts and 1 DDT.  I got the flipper part down, but I can't get it to rupt at all.  This is as far as I got before I gave up and moved on to another idea.

A rebuild of the poker/juggler that I build some time back:

DSA, 2 Supervolts, 14 razor tips, 8 iron spikes, 2 air tanks and pistons.

The wedges have improved from the previous version, but they're not outstanding like NF or Grade-4 Whiplash.  Yes the static razors look useless where they are, but they actually do more than you'd think.

Finally, something I've always wanted to make, a MW HS/VS hybrid:

10 razor tips, 1 Supervolt, 4 RADs as weapon motors, plastic armor (It was the only way I could make both the weapon types adequate).

Despite the Snapper-mounted weapon motors, it's surprisingly wedgy; It gets under Seism 16 a few times.  I even got it to beat a couple of HSs, like Flaming Whizzer.  Before you say anything about the T-connectors on the VSs, I can't use regular extenders because the robot will bounce more not only because of the lopsided weapons, but also because they will hit the ground.

I'm guessing it has 4 batteries, and yes it would be better to use angled 40cm titanium sheets here.  However I don't recommend downgrading the wedge skirt, and that isn't a pole spike j-s, it's part of the metal hinge.

JD, my bot is actually very well capable of destroying its opponents in less than a minute, including Child's Play IV and the SC4 rebuilds of Tempus Fugit and Aerial HK.  The only real problem it has is that it uses plastic armor, however the only things that can get to it are a speedy and well-armored popup (none of which in this tourney are both), or an extremely lucky rammer.

Edit: Holy heck, I didn't think your bot had HPZ drive, Freeziez  !  Guess I might have to watch my back if I'm up against you  ;) .

I am nowhere on either of those lists.  What the heck Freeziez?!   :realmad(

Holy crap I wasn't expecting it to be such a HS-fest!

Thoughts on the competition:

Afterlife - interesting take on the SC3 version of Tempus Fugit, sadly it looks way too fragile to do well.
First Stock Bot I've Built in Months - Not that bad for one actually, but I'm not sure on the stability.
Brown Wreckluse 3 - From what I've seen it looks like a good contender, but I don't think the wheels will hold up, even with the minor protection they have.
Box of Grime - A pretty cool, but unfortunately outdated design.
Cacodemon - Not trying to say this in a mean way, but  :SFTW .
Frost - If it's a popup then it looks okay from the outside, but that exposed front won't last against the majority of HSs here.
Zaphod Stock 2 - It's very well-built, but those weapons won't last against a few of the other HSs here.
Kill IV - Ditto regarding the weapons, but lacks the bursted motor and the front protection of the previous bot.
Pork Chop Express - Comendations on being able to fit those weapons on a LW dual HS.
Death By Purple 3 - looks surprisingly like my entry :O, although I wonder whether using a ramplate is worth 1 less weapon.
Trigger - Looks like the average LW popup, but if it has HPZ drive like I think it does then it's potentially a very formidable opponent.
Simply Volatile - Easy to guess what it is based on, but there's already a MW version of the original with the same name :P.  That doesn't make it a bad bot though.
Dark Void 2 - Contest is over.
Protostar U*1Z6M- I originally was going to enter something completely different, but after three attempts at coming up with a decent new design I said "f*** it" and send in this instead.
Tyrantarous - It looks pretty well-balanced: Can't say much more really.
Ketchup Burn - Looks pretty good despite basically being a Child's Play IV clone.  I just wish it was invertible.

While I'm here I might as well look at my heat:

I can definitely beat Enigma and probably Pwnator; depends on whether or not that thing's packing HPZs, but not Badnik unless his bot is unstable.

It looks cool, but i don't get the last bot.
Does it just act as somewhat of a rammer, and hope to outweapon VS?
It's supposed to act like Occult Sigil, Naryar's MW pinner, but with more weapon coverage and a lower profile.  Sadly it doesn't work at all because everything behind the "dish", as I like to call it, is very vulnerable.  This wouldn't be much of a problem except it can't get under anything, it lost to freaking Frostbite for God's sake!  Maybe using weapons with a collision mesh lower to the ground would help, but I doubt it.

Here's something I build a couple of weeks ago (I really should have posted it earlier to keep the showcase flowing) that I now feel like sharing with you:

5mm plastic, 8 ant batteries, 3 halfsheets, 16 medium beater bars and DS teeth.

Of course it can't de-weapon anything, but it's surprisingly adequate at beating gut-rippers: it's beaten HNM 4 quite a few times.

In addition to the complex spinners, it also spins on itself (mostly because it can't drive toward it's opponent at all), so it's more like a SnSnSnS than a complex HS.

Oh the irony :P

Also, just pointing out a mistake you made on the wiring section, Vertigo: the proper wiring for left-facing motors is shown on the right instead of left and vice versa.

Hey, nice to see you back jet-speed!   :gawe:

I recommend attaching the drive motors directly to multi-extenders, instead of that weird setup you've got there.

Crap, I forgot to send some HWs, so...

GO CROSSWIND III!!!

While it is possible to make this a middleweight, I wouldn't recommend it because it wouldn't have much room for weaponry, so instead build it to the 800kg HW limit.

Find a way to lower the spinner, and add more weapons and another set of drive motors (though the last one is optional unless you want to make it a SnS hybrid).  You can also make do without the Nifty.
