My brother got back from PAX. He only tried the driving, not the bot lab. He said the frame rate was slow and the camera angle was weird. The arena he was in was called The Cage. From his description, it sounded like Battlebox with a pit. The pit is full of flames, because just begin eliminated isn't enough. He drove in twice. He got me an RA3 pin, which I'll post when I next see him

So here's a diagram with pictures. I've got this ridiculous assembly of angle brackets and I want to put a red & black pole with a razor tip on the end for some reason. I've exceeded the rule of 7, so that's impossible, right? Wrong! So here's what you do. First, you build the rest of your chain on a different base, in this case a new baseplate anchor Now I go into the bot file and find the lines associated with the black extender. We want to look at the black extender because we want to stick it, and everything attached to it, to our chain of 7. So, we take the number that tell us the parent component of the black extender (ie, what's it connected to, in this case the baseplate anchor) and change that number to the number of where we want to drop it, in this case the 7th angler bracket, which I happen to know is 7. If necessary, we'd change the number beneath it, but we don't have to in this case And voila, that's it

It's BFE. Once you have a chain of 7 but want to add more, you simply drop the 8th component anywhere, then use BEF'ing to change the # of its parent component to the # of the last chain link.

Clockwork L'Orange is out, Gemini is in.

It's a huge year for Massachusetts. In addition to J, A, C, and D each doing their own bot, and the Bales brothers, we've got the Dentist featuring actual "Kids from MIT," and a mystery team called "Mantis," Jamison wouldn't say anymore than they shipped their crate from MA.
Beta's doing fine, but Moebius' drive system was misrouted by UPS, and they might lose out on their chance.

So a meter deep and 2 meters wide?

The big question for me is: will I be able to build a servo-powered weapon like Panic Attack's forks or Razer's claw, that actually works?

Have you tried adding the arenas but saying "no" to overwriting anything?

Mmm yeah looks good, wonder how easy it'll be to make replicas though...
. It'll depend on how malleable the programming is outside of the game itself. I will say that the multi-tiered chassis tool opens up a ton of doors.

This 3D chassis building tho...
Good or bad thing?
Certainly a huge improvement over the old system; 5 layers instead of 2.

Why aren't there more black guys in robot combat? Like the only guys I've seen is the dude with dreads in the Demolisher team and one dude in Robotica who had this cool ass bot that got beaten in the fight to the finish. Like wtf man, is this sh** like hockey or something?
. In thinking about it, I remeber seeing a a preview for last season's Battlebots, which showed the Giant Nut being hoisted by a pair of white hands, and realizing that that didn't spoil anything. One could argue that they were masculine looking, which ruled out Sweet Revenge, Chomp, and Plan X, but I don't think that would be much of a spoiler.

BTW Robot Wars Wiki is either in the process of an update to include pilot or is fully updated, so avoid any new articles to avoid spoilers. Should be common sense but I didnt realise a bot was new and got slightly spoiled so thought i would mention it.
Nope, we're only publishing pilot info for now. Anything related to the TV show proper won't be published until the BBC starts making announcements. Avoid the Robot Wars Facebook groups, some idiots are posting photos they took at the event, which was the ONE THING the BBC asked them not to do. I decided to bounce before I said something I regetred.

the eyes look wrong imo
robots are robots, not living things
Yeah, but if you humanize your robot, people will feel uneasy about hitting it, that must be their plan!

Do any of you know if you'll be in the actual televised stuff?
. Anyone who was in the pilot won't be on TV; it's the logical thing to do since they have a ton of non-qualifiers available for the pilot.

Could work, although they're more interested in making entertaining TV than being fair. Also, Storm 2, Razer have announced they will be competing. There was a third robot who leaked to soon but then put a lid on it, can I assume that it's ok to divulge them now?

For those of you not following on Facebook, teams have been given the green light to announce they've qualified. Bigest news so far is the return of the Techno Destructo team with Ultimo Destructo https://www.facebook.com/Carnagerobotics/?fref=nf

So they're already making restrictions on spinners? I don't like that, that's how you end up having to sell Hypno-Disc as on the same tier as the American robots, because it's the toughest spinner your arena can contain. It's also how you end up bringing in Mauler from America, only to say say "whoops, we can't actually contain your robot. Sorry.
