That's the bother with that design, though, no torque at all, so it doesn't really work as well as an HPZ. But it's still an interesting design, I reckon. If you had normal spinners, I think it'd look pretty cool while still being combat-effective.

Ah, I see. That's not a bad idea. Although if you take a look at the photo, it's kind of like that all over, instead of just on one side. So perhaps try to spread it out a little, but don't go overboard. A few scratches here and there should cover it.

Doesn't look terribly bad. Could do with being a little shorter and wider, I reckon. Plus the wheels should ideally be hidden inside the chassis, it looks a bit ugly when they're sticking out like that. Also, why do you need two smartzones? One larger one will do the job just as well for half the weight.

There's a couple up on YouTube, but the mechanics of a walker simply don't work in the game. RA2 locks physics in a room and then farts in it, basically. In our circles, a walker is classed as a robot that moves without using wheels or weapons, so you could have drum components, hexplates, 40cm skirts and so forth. If you use weapons as a means of propulsion, such as sawblades or maces on a disc, that's called a Crawler.

As for this one, I think you could do with some extra batter power in there. Try swapping the lone battlepack for 16 ants. A BSG needs two and a half ants for maximum power, but a servo needs none, strangely.

If you drop the weapon extenders to poly ones, that'll give you more weight to use on skirts to hold your drive and BSG's on. They're probably going to get hit a lot more often than the extenders, so they need to be pretty tough, I think. Also make sure they're NPC Normals, for 30 times the HP.

Looks quite funky, but it'll not be up to much in combat. If that's what you're going for, though, making realistic designs as opposed to pure combat-effective ones, then there's quite a buzz about that at the moment. =) As a general rule of thumb, though, if you place aesthetics above efficiency, then you'll end up with a good IRL bot.

That's not to say you can't use effective components for it, though. For instance, the Omni Connectors could be easily replaced by Multi Extenders, saving you 14kg. Plus, it'll be inside the chassis, and nobody will see it, so it doesn't really matter if it doesn't look as cool. If you take a look through the Battlebots tournaments, Blades of Fury, and a few showcases such as Thyrus's, dragonsteincoles, Scrap Daddy's and mine, you'll find some pretty good examples of IRL bots that can be built. =) A good skin really does wonders for an IRL bot, in my view.

They were, but Naryar is above silly restrictions like that. =P

The idea was so that people couldn't find out who was on their team, and as was shown, once people started talking about where they were, some members started deducing who they'd been teamed up with, and so on.

Looks pretty good. I should try to rebuild that 4-bar lifter thing I'd built a while back. Shame that I used to have a habit of eating the tyres.

He shouldn't have to do that. Just try halfing the nose each time, such as pi, pi/2, 3pi/2, and so on.

Make sure you've got the .py file it needs. For instance, if a bot uses Popup.py in the Bindings, but Popup.py isn't in the AI folder, your game will crash.

Sharon Osbourne's dog died, Comcast put it up as a front page story.

F*CK THE ENTERTAINMENT INDUSTRY AND TMZ AND E! AND EVERYONE WHO MAKES MONEY OFF OF THIS KIND OF CRAP

This. Seems that anything to do with these so-called "Celebrities", whether they're eating cereal or out on a walk with the dog is far more important and worthy of news than a crashing economy and war in the Middle East.

The thing is, it's mostly the fault of the media for providing them with a taste of the spotlight in the first place, with things such as Big Brother and The X Factor, or any other reality show <expletive>. But we now know for a fact that the media is going down the toilet, because we're now getting a fraudulently romantic moron parade thinly veiled as a game show, hosted by Stacy <expletive>ing Solomon. I do hope that gets axed as soon as possible.

Didn't I tell you? :gawe:

Also yay, second place! =D One better next time.

Also, what do the orange boxes with the line through them signify? Because I'm assuming that a "-" means no points were scored.

If someone is doing this he should ban this "perm on top of the chassis" bots. the spinning weapon always cuts the extender and i dont see how that is realistic
It's the same principle as a ring spinner. With a ring spinner in RA2, the disc has to at least cut through the wheels to make it work, but you would see a ring spinner IRL, just as you would see a motor-on-top spinner IRL. It's only made unrealistic through the game mechanics.

It's a shame, that, and I do agree with you. With the majority of IRL tournaments, the majority of members submit something that you would see IRL, like Thyrus or DSC would do. But there's normally one or two members who don't really go that far with it, and you do end up with a substandard DSL bot when that happens, with things like exposed drive axles, weapon spam, or Metal Hinges (poor show), but I've never really been too bothered about the internals, personally. That's what I've been thinking with IRL building, you submit something that you woud SEE in real life competition, rather than something that works like it would. You can't build a ring spinner in RA2 without being unrealistic, for instance, and a 4-bar linkage simply doesn't exist in-game. But then that brings it back to IRL being a subjective viewpoint, and the fact that if we try to put rules in stone, we'll invariably have members going "But you can do X IRL, and there's no way of making Y realistic otherwise in the game", and so forth. I would hope that bots are properly scrutinized before being added to the mod, but there will certainly be some good IRL bots in there, regardless of if we get a few substandard DSL bots in there as well. If you take a look at Cage Of Mirrors from B4ttleBots, I think that's more what we're going for. Looks fantastic, but isn't very good in battle. Aesthetics before efficiency, and so forth.

I think it'd be slightly trickier to come up with a definite theme/gimmick, like in Vanilla Stock, as you like to call it. It might be better if we just put a few things together as teams do IRL, but you could still tell they came from the same group. Similar to Near Chaos Robotics, or that lot Scrap did recently.
