Ah, right. Mine didn't have NPCs. *puts scalpel away* We'll see when the splash comes around.

i'm dead

Nah, I like you. Tell you what, I'll take half your spleen when the splash comes.

I'm interested as to who the third builder was, though, it seems like a pretty good build to me. Would have liked to get an extra ant in there, though, but it's all good. =) Looking forward to killing some stuff, specifically Naryar and his designated minions.

Stabilisers on Metal Hinges are going to bounce like one of my dad's jacket potatos. Mount them on ME's, and use skirts instead of DSL Bars. They're a heck of a lot lighter for almost the same HP. Use the weight saved from that to swap the Halfsheet (they're only really useful for underside protection & mounting stuff from thereafter) for a plow, maybe Medium, but preferably Heavy. Switch the extenders to Polycarb ones too, the opponent's aren't really going to get to them.

In all seriousness, I got teamed up with a fairly competent set of builders. Although I may have messed up a bit right at the start, because I trimmed the chassis to make a Middleweight instead of a Lightweight. Then I read the rules and was like "oh balls". But it's all turned out well, hopefully. =D

sorry NFX :D

Okay, hold still. =D *produces scalpel*

It didn't mess up the bot too much, though, it's still pretty wedgy. Did rather well during testing. I'm feeling fairly confident with this one, we ended up with a pretty good bot, I reckon.

AWESOME.

For starters, I am going to remove the spleen of whoever put the 40cm wedge on the metal hinge. Made it more difficult than usual to get the proper frontal defenses on.

I see. I'd have it flex upwards more, personally, so it could fight better inverted. I don't really like invertible bots with wedges that only work one way up, when you're upside down, it's a massive hinderance more than anything.

Excellent. Can't help thinking Flipper Segments instead of Beater Bars for the inside parts in front of the wheels. What's the arc of the wedge, is it against the ground either way up?

I'm sure I did this before.

My internet sucks. :gawe:

Interestingly, it tried to test me with a server based in Northern Ireland.

Discussion / Re: DSL IRL Building Guideline Suggestions
« on: February 28, 2012, 12:16:00 PM »
In my view, yes it is. However, there are still a few who will enter a substandard DSL bot in an effort to chalk up a free tournament win to their name. Plus, giving the tournament host the ability to decide which bots fit the realistic rule will cause problems with members whose views on IRL don't match, similar to Pretyor in Jonzu's recent Stock Tournament. Personally, Metal Hinges and Halfsheets on the underside aren't IRL, and neither are exposed motors or axles without sufficient extender "supports" around them.

Not bad. We were on Tiscali the last time I checked, I've no idea what they are now. I think they might be something like a subdivision of BT.

Last day of non-fibre optic broadband!

Yay.

Lucky you. Where abouts are you, is it a region-wide or national thing?

It's beaten HNM4 consistently in testing. It occasionally gyro dances on a clumsy hit, but it doesn't get inverted too often. Once the weapon's up to speed, it acts as a gyroscope, and keeps it the right way up.

I vote #6 for originality's sake.

What russian roulette said.

also what's that #7 ? you think you're going to win by dedicating 90% of your splash to a damn novel ? THINK AGAIN.

Surely you mean #8? :gawe:

I don't know what was going through my head when I built this.

799.8, 4 ants, Plastic 5, NPC Normals. Designed to kill popups/flippers, and it does that very well. Until it becomes unbalanced. CF extenders to give correct clearance for the weaponry.

Poking Naryar with a stick is fun. In the same way putting face paint on a shark is. You enjoy it, until he bites your arm off.
Then I'd go "HAH I GOT MY ARM BITTEN OFF BY SHARKY~<3"
The critical thing is knowing when to stop poking him with a stick. =P
