Right, there are two things for you to guess.
1) What it's going to be once I've skinned it. 2) What paint thinner I was sniffing in order to come up with the idea. 2084

Slight bump, but I have just thought of a good idea for this one.
Now to make it. Expect a bot which has been skinned to death. 2085

Tournament Archives / Re: Good Guys vs Bad Guys« on: August 05, 2011, 04:32:44 PM »Rule: Oh and no massively overpowered weapons types which have no bearing on the character it's supposed to be resembling. Basically no trying to enter a FSS under the guise of Wonder Woman or a popup dressed as Link. What about a Zerg Lurker or Sagat as True Popup? TIGER UPPERCUT!!!! As long as you have valid reasoning for the choice of bot type then I'm fine with it. Having said that, however, I am almost tempted to ban certain bot types like FSS and SNS just to stop confusion and such further down the line. 2087
Tournament Archives / Re: Good Guys vs Bad Guys« on: August 05, 2011, 02:06:47 AM »Rule: Oh and no massively overpowered weapons types which have no bearing on the character it's supposed to be resembling. Basically no trying to enter a FSS under the guise of Wonder Woman or a popup dressed as Link.I know that it's going to result in a bit of controversy and that there is grey area in it. But it's just there to keep out the extreme examples where people are entering RPP klones with the face of Mother Teresa on just to get cheap wins. I hope people get the hint with me mentioning "Form over Function" and me offering to skin components. Oh and with Multibots, if one of them is based around a "Good" guy and the other could be considered a "Good" guy from the right angle then I would probably accept it. However if it's one Good guy and one Bad guy then I would have to reject it, so no James Bond/Blofeld combos Oh and Avalanche I swear I sent you that AI. 2088

Oh! Thats the one thing I forgot!
That TRIAS is also proposing a DSL HW Themed Tourney. I'm thinking of delaying this one until after TRIAS' tourney has finished so there aren't two running at once. 2089

DSL? Hell yes.
Now I need to think of something. 2090

For the sole reason that I think making good looking bots would be a bit hard at anything lower.
Oh and Badnik just made me think of a new rule! See first post. 2091

Well, he's evil in the sense he's a cold blooded mercenary...
I wouldn't call him a "Bad Guy" though. 2092
Tournament Archives / Good Guys vs Bad Guys (On Hiatus)« on: August 04, 2011, 03:26:10 PM »
This tourney idea is closed, for now. It may go through a few revisions.
Good Guys vs Bad Guys - DSL HW - No Cheatbot2 Items - No BFE/AAM - I can AI if you really need me to. - Standard 16 bot Double Elimination Bracket. Matches are best out of 3. - For now, the arena is Keznorg IGC. Unless I come up with a better idea. - Wherever possible, matches will be arranged Good vs Bad - Skinned components not only allowed, but encouraged. See below. - 1 havok restart per bot per match. Another havok after that and the bot is Disqualified. - *New!* Multibots allowed. But they must be two different characters which are linked in some way. So Batman & Robin for example. This is a first for me. A tournament that doesn't need shuffling of teams every round or bot types! For this one, there shall be 2 teams, The Good Guys and The Bad Guys. Both with 8 bots each. In the first round the matches shall be arranged Good vs Bad, then wherever possible all the other matches shall be arranged like that. I shall not be publicly saying who is on which team beforehand however. And I request that you would do the same. Every bot, however, must be themed around either a "Good" or "Bad" character from Tv, Film, Books, Video games, History, wherever. The more obscure the better, as long as you can prove they are "Good" or "Bad" if needed. Hopefully this will give some combinations like Galactus vs C3-PO or something. Examples of Good Guys: Pinkie Pie, Jesus, James Bond, Mario. Examples of Bad Guys: Dr Evil, Bowser, Iago from Othecko. As I am hoping for this tournament to be more "Form over function", I am also offering to skin components for people who are unable to do it themselves. To help make the bots more pretty. Oh and no massively overpowered weapons types which have no bearing on the character it's supposed to be resembling. Basically no trying to enter a FSS under the guise of Wonder Woman or a popup dressed as Link. SKINNING RULES: - If you can skin the components yourself and make/arrange all the needed txt files and components, then you can have as many skinned parts as you like. - The components needed must be found in standard DSL. - If you can't skin yourself then I will skin up to 3 components for you. If you send me a skin for a component but no other files needed for it to work, that'll count towards one of your three. The skin either needs to be a plain colour or a simple texture or image. No requesting handmade, bespoke pieces of art on a snowplow. - When I have skinned/made your components, I will send them back to you, you then put them into your game, place them onto your bot and then send the bot back to me. Comments? I think I covered everything. 2093

Contests / Re: Vote BOTM Aug 2011« on: August 01, 2011, 03:59:58 AM »Can I just say to all the people that have said stuff like, "Oh, #3 looks, rubbish, the splash is terrible, the bot is not gonna win any battles, moan moan moan", I don't think your first BOTM entry was a world beater either was it? I've only just got on the site so I don't know how good the competition is.There is a whole archive of BOTM's you could have looked through to gauge the competition. So not "knowing how good the competition is" is hardly an excuse. 2096
