Oh, and do you guys think skirt hinge, metal hinge, and axle wedges should be banned as well ?
Nah, too hard to define what a 'wedge' is. For example, Final Destiny/Biohazard-style skirts--wedge? Or not a wedge? What about if they're only on the sides? You can't just say skirt hinge, metal hinge, and axle wedges are banned--you'll have to make specific criteria for what constitutes a wedge.

if you do, you'll get your own Team Jules in the BBEANS AI Pack for being in all 3 DSL tournaments
Wouldn't Mako be in the Team Runners-Up though?
Seism 13 being in the Champion's team didn't stop me from making a Team Firebeetle. I'll just fill the HW slot with another bot that 'fits' with the rest of the team (and the LW too, if Jules makes a bot and wins with it).

If this was done, it should be:
-MW (HW causes too much lag) -No realism rule (It didn't even exist before DSL) -No AI parts or Snapper II's (these were banned from official play in the old days) -Maximum of 16 competitors with single elimination (or 8 with double). Possibly only allow "regular" members who won't disappear mid-tournament. The size needs to be kept manageable so interest can be kept up and there won't be a couple slow people holding up the whole tournament.
But there's a reason all the tournaments nowadays are AI, and back in the days of online tournaments the number that were successfully completed can be counted on your hands. People need to be VERY enthusiastic about this or it won't get off the ground.

Whoa hey Jules, good to see you again. Hope you can come up with something to enter (if you do, you'll get your own Team Jules in the BBEANS AI Pack for being in all 3 DSL tournaments). But yeah LW VS are in a whole different category from MW and HW. It's hard to pack enough KE to throw bots; most of them are closer to gut-rippers. I'm assuming you don't have any problem with DOAM being a ByeBot or you would have said something. Hey Click, is Trovaner Chassis glitch allowed?
Yes. If it's in the bot lab, it's OK. (Now I'm curious why you want to know... in all honesty, I don't think it has a lot of practical uses.)

Do we now call pinks purples?
I do. They're not really pink after all. All that matters is that you know what I'm talking about.

@Mad: That reminds me of another story I found... http://thorax.bmj.com/content/60/3/262.full^Guy got a 2-inch beetle lodged in his lung. He went to the doctor, not knowing what was wrong, and described the sensation of "something scratching in my chest".

That might be overall better than Noble Sacrifice... if the wedge is any good, that is. Edit: wait does the weapon fire upwards too? That sets it apart from Noble Sacrifice. Dunno if it's better but it sure looks good. And I need help on the Flying Guillotine clone (from the previous page). I need an additional 1.5 kg to make the bot wide enough to prevent some HSes from touching the legs. But I don't know where to get the weight. D:
Use 2 purples instead of a Nifty and shrink the chassis?

1mm plastic
There's gotta be a better way to attach the drive motors, so you can get at least 1mm Ti. Otherwise looks great.

The AI has the option to only swing at the chassis, but Bisector doesn't use it. It works better if components trigger the smart zone too.
Oh, and I also beat Gearhead with it.

Not bad; Lock Nut is extremely weak to gut-rippers though.

It's a good bot so far. The Tornado spike is 15 kgs though; that's a lot of weight when you could use a Typhoon spike or a light DSL tooth for 4 or 5 kgs. Or perhaps you could use a beater bar on its side--that will keep the disc low to the ground when inverted.
Suggestion: Put a spike on the bottom attach point of the Perm's axle. This will help stabilize the bot and also protect the motor a bit against gut-rippers.

Even though I was driving Bisector, its harder to drive than it looks, so I'm still testing it against Existence 7.
Hence why I spent so much time making a custom AI. Driving Bisector accurately requires more fast thinking and coordination than I'm capable of. Still, that screenshot has me a bit worried...

Hmm... I would ditch those side plows (the clamps ensure nobody's getting to your flank) and upgrade the front ram plate to a heavy plow. Then with the extra weight from using BSG's (and therefore less batteries) you should get a wedge on there so you can trap bots other than HS's.
Good design there, horizontal trappers have been tried but none looked very effective. That one on the other hand looks big enough to actually hold bots, and it has a good weapon to boot.

I started building a MW Slaying Mantis and gave up about halfway through when I ran out of weight. The unfinished bot sat in my bot lab for several months before I stumbled across it again and decided I could make it work. And this is the result. Like its HW counterpart, Preying Mantis II is good against HS's and rammers, not so much against popups and VS's. However, it is somewhat more adept at fighting popups than Slaying Mantis. The main problem is that it can't self-right--if Preying Mantis could self-right (or if it could avoid being flipped), I'm sure it could beat a lot of popups easily. Oh well. At least it looks wicked cool.

The game was glitched when I took the screenshot. 6 razors make it go overweight, so it's missing one.
I was wondering about that! That would be incredible if it had 6 razors. Even with 5 it looks pretty good (nice stacking), though you will be at a definite disadvantage against the 100's of other LW HS's with 6 razors...

Yep, this is one of the things I'm working on. The Firestorm flipper is already fixed, in fact.

The NAI AI will be good for testing as soon as somebody does a NAR-DSL tournament.
If your rebalancing work eventually takes over DSL 2.1 as "the standard", it won't happen overnight. It will be a gradual process.
Same with DSL3, I think, since it won't be backwards compatible. People will be playing DSL 2.1 for a long time to come.

I loved that match... One of everything ;D
There was no immobilization or WBP. But you're right, it was a good one. Kept you guessing until the very end.

I'm not sure how the brackets work. Do the winners advance to the next round, and the 2nd and 3rd places fight it out for the other spot with the winners?
Solenopsis destructor could've won by points if the AI could constantly hold down the fire button on flamethrowers. As it is I ran out of fuel, which wouldn't be so bad except I was up against 2 rammers (S. destructor's worst enemy aside from wedges).
Neutrino is definitely my favorite for this tournament.

Mmmmmm... Bisector food. Nice builds though, the + chassis is an interesting approach. Should grant better stability.
