got rid of one battery.

Why not put it back?  4 batteries will be much better than 3 with this design.

How wedgy is it with the skirt hinge?

A lot of bots in Nar AI use small DSL discs to mount spikes.  They're durable and they're 2 kgs per attachment point, which isn't too bad.

Generic rammer is generic, but well built.

You could even make it bigger with 250 cm discs.  Then maybe you could fit LW's or small MW's in there.

Of course it can't be too big or it won't work like a blender... cool concept, even if it's not combat effective.

I've never seen a Complex FS :P

There's a good reason for that.  It's called AGOD.  How did you get around it for this bot?  Just pause every time you load it?

That probably won't be too difficult, seeing as how I'll be busy AI'ing bots for the next month and then filming matches.  Depending on the criteria for May's BOTM, I may or may not make a bot.

FBS_central is a double edged sword... I can see some bot coming up and mauling SnS 3 while it's trying to get to the center of the arena.  It's all but unstoppable when it's spinning, but it looks vulnerable in that stage.

On the other hand, it should be difficult to push OOTA.  It's an interesting tradeoff.

if an admin could change the pass to my old account and message me with it, that'd be cool i guess.

Whoops.  :embarr   I just changed the password on your old account, intending to PM you the new one so you could access it, without realizing someone had already done so.

I'll pm the new password to your oh hey its toAst account.  Sorry about this.

Back on topic...

I was at Mechwars 3 in Minnesota several years ago.  Son of Whyachi was there, the original shuffler version that actually worked.  It fought some flail VS (don't remember what it was called, something innocent like Snuggles or Sugarpie, but it was the prequel to another flail VS called Thresher).  SoW was dominating until one of its hammers broke off and flew right through the arena wall, punching a giant hole in the lexan.  It was a miracle that nobody got hurt; that hammer could have easily killed somebody.  Somebody like me

Needless to say, SoW fought with its weapon at low speed for the rest of the tournament, and not just because it was unbalanced.

More like make lateral extensions on the extender, so you might actually self right with it instead of just avoiding immobility.

The rammers look good, but the SnS has way overkill drive for a LW and not enough weapons.  How fast does it spin?

So how exactly is that a full body popup?  Does the chassis flip up through the skirts with some razors attached?

Also, I see I'm not the only one with ludicrous speed.

Well of course it sucks, it's not a complete bot... it will be much better once it has wheels and weapons, trust me.

Looks like a good start, though you can probably make the back end a bit shorter and still have room for batteries back there.

(And it will get renamed)

I lol'd at "Bot with Spikes".  That is the most awesomely, hilariously generic name ever.  I would totally use that as a final name.

Anyway, you all have already seen my entry.

Gonna go with one of these 6 for BBEANS6

ReActive would be coolest to have in BBEANS because it's a new, original and exciting design.  And also could take advantage of the hazards.

The shell spinner would be least cool to have because there's probably going to be a lot of those (but it could be worse, it could have razor tips.  5kg teeth on hex plates makes it at least somewhat original).

The juggler I don't want you to enter because my bot won't be able to beat it  :gawe:

But use what you think is best.

That is Bloodwater, one of FB's bots.  Let's see if I can find a picture...

Here's one from when it was called Ye Olde Smitten Castle:

(It was renamed Bloodwater for a team that was going in Rolo's AI pack, along with Pillar of Fire and The Flood.  The team was called Supernatural Disaster.  And obviously Rolo's AI pack was never finished or you would know all this.)

Now with self-righteousness!

New problem, though: it's slow enough to be easily flanked by fast bots.  So even though it can consistently self-right, it can't consistently beat most popups like I hoped it would.  But it's still just as good against HS, so I'm keeping this version since being able to self-right is just a good thing in general.

Woohoo my suggestion worked.

Nice bot.  Is there any non-HS that it can't beat?

2038
But try it.If they can do damage with the tip,SPIKE CLUBS STILL SUCK.

Anyways, I wouldn't describe your bots as bad, per se--it's more like you're just not as far along on the learning curve as some of the other builders here.  You know what you're doing, you like experimenting, and you have bots that are as good as you need them to be (beating the stock AI).  The next step would be to get an AI pack (RFS AI is tougher than stock but still not too hard, Starcore AI offers an immediate high challenge level, or BBEANS AI has a nice mix of bots of different strengths) and try to beat those.

That's a nice setup you have there; very little empty space.  But the wedge looks pretty steep--that's a bad thing.  I would rotate the wedge Snappers 180 degrees and make the chassis narrower so the extenders are outside the chassis.  Then with the extra weight, make the chassis longer so the wedge isn't so steep.  Should make it slightly better.

I suspect the wheels collicion is hitting a part of the opponent upside-down,Then you get that.

Translation: The top of the wheels are touching the bottom of the other bot.  You try to drive, the wheels get traction on the other bot and your controls go wonky.

I agree with Avalanche here.
