The pointlessly huge football (soccer) players' wages are due to the stupidly large TV deals and lack of a wage cap in England - which works admirably in places like Australia and the US. Make a maximum of say, £1,000 a week worldwide and make a maximum transfer budget too. Stupid money for wages and involvement of agents is thrown out of the window - releasing a lot of money into other things - improving facilites, paying the non-playing staff better, charitable donations and suchlike. And players have to live life properly like the rest of us.
What irks me is stuff like this:

'Girly wusses' is just a stereotype perpetuated by people who only look at players like Cristiano Ronaldo and Nani and Brazillians. Lack of referee discipline has got it into some players' mindsets that diving and similar are ok - but some =/= all. Loads of players are brave, strong and fearless when it comes to getting stuck in. And if players didn't want to get hit, there'd be no Goalkeepers, for a start. While some points are valid towards some players, don't go knocking on the good honest people who play for love of the sport rather than money (Though that number seems to be decreasing, and will do so until we cap spending as I detailed further up >.>)
