What a buffer does is give the liquid more room to turn into the gas, vastly improving the power

Right now you'll be getting liquid in the ram

Good, but could be better with some changes

Compare that to Explosion:

(Remember you have the bigger ram)

That's what a buffer tank does, I would seriously consider trying to stick one in there

Found a Harbor Freight coupon in the Sunday paper, will get a pair of drills Tomorrow.
If you are going to go for it, make sure you get some decent drills, dewalts are generally the best

Ra2 has ruined your comprehension for the way real robot combat works.
lol I quote two month old posts

How do detect sarcasm.

Guys let him do what he wants, RFS won like three competitions with broken RC tanks. As long as he knows what he's doing I'm sure he can make a semi-successful beetle. Now of course he might not do well, but it's about having fun, not winning.
I gave him advice, up to him whether he uses it or not

I never said bigger robots were better I only said that heavier weightclasses are easier to work on. It was incredibly frustrating to work on my ant, simply because it was so small versus my 30lbers where everything is bigger.
Ah, I thought you meant larger as in in-compact XD

...and a sportsman can cost as little as $600.
Explosion = £500 and full pressure flipper
Annihilation = £200

I would agree with SKBT saying that the feather's are a good class to start off with (or Sportsman if you're scared of the spinners). Do not however agree that bigger is better. I would say make you're robot as compact as possible, to allow for the best armour possible, and Annihilation is one of the smallest feathers in the UK and has nad a fair amount of success. If you don't have much experience at all (or lacking confidence), then ants are a good place to start (although in the US they have a different weight-limit so what do I know :P).

Robot Market Place will be very useful to you. But then again other places will be too. Shop around, we got Annihilation's motors off eBay (9.6v DeWALT drill motors), never broken after 4.5 years of service (about ten events a year, atleast four fights per event), and give a good amount of push.

Right advice time:

Look before you leap. Forget about rc cars and making other robots out of non-competitive parts. Make one proper antweight to start you off. i.e. Make sure you are using good motors, lipo's, good esc, good armour (HDPE if it can be sourced in the US). No, it won't be cheap, but cheaper than buying a new rc car every time it gets smashed up. And do a proper job, then build your way up from there.

You hear too many people saying "Hey, look I'm building this!" Then two days later saying "Now I'm building this!", you get too many jobs to keep track of, and they don't get finished. Make your antweight, and don't do a cheapy job, try to make something competitive. When something goes wrong, work out how to fix it, keep ploughing on, untill you have made something that works well. THEN maybe move onto something a little bigger.

May sound harsh, but so many people spend lots of money on projects that are never finished or wasted due to lack of experience. The best way is to start at the bottom, it's what we did, and now we've got the 2nd Place FW in the UK and have just completed building a heavyweight version.

That arm's a little to long for me, but then again I'm picky :P

I do thing shortening and a ripper-bucket would work well as someone mentioned on the FRA

Razer wouldn't be able to move on the RR floor lol
Why's that? Last time I checked, its floor was plywood- the same stuff as the RW Arena.
You try driving on it then :P

Floor is changed about twice a year, if that, gets a bit torn up and rough after a few events

And RC don't own Razer, they're just good friend with the team (IIRC James is actually part of the team now)

Mute turned up to Roaming Robots regularly a few years back (2004/2005), but for some reason stopped coming

As far as I know the robot is still kept with the team

Well TBH, 1 maybe uncalled rep-down (which can be corrected anyway, BTW), don't quite deserve a torrent of abuse. A few days ago a brand new member was given -4 straight away for bumping a topic, without any complaints at all.

PM has been sent, all has been understood, forgiven and sorted out, so I don't really see this as an issue

And I'll send in a bot for this, (providing it's an OOTA-able arena ;))

1) Imitation is the most sincere form of flattery.
2) Roboleague doesn't have pools?
Flattering, maybe, but the points system is identical, except it is suited for two bots rather than three

Atleast now everyone only really uses air (ants) or Co2, mostly because they are the only sources available
