Tournament Archives / Red vs Blue Discussion
« on: May 17, 2013, 01:04:15 AM »
It looks like my next tournament will be Red vs Blue! This tournament will have 2 large teams made up of up to 20 people on each depending on how many people enter, if I get 40 entries than we will see every robot weight class for both stock and DSL.

I will list available robots like this (just an example):

Stock:

AW AW
BW BW
LW LW
MW MW
HW HW

DSL:

AW AW
BW BW
LW LW
MW MW
HW HW

Normal text colour will mean that the robot type is still available and green will mean that the robot type is taken.

The format will be as follows:

*I will randomise teams with - http://www.random.org/lists/ the first of each robot type will go on team red and second on team blue.
*Every robot gets one match against the same weight class and mod type (stock or DSL) from the opposing team.
*Every match will consist of 5 rounds.
*Every round win will earn you a point for your team.
*The team with the most points at the end will be declared the winner.

Rules:

Stock and DSL rules:

*Multi-bots (2 clusters maximum per multi-bot) are allowed.
*No Nasty Pickles, Bumble bots, Trinity Flyers, Crawlers or any other cheap robots.
*Robots must show controlled movement and have at least 2 wheel drive.
*Standard in-game glitches (such as axle loading) allowed (STOCK ONLY).
*No AAM, Hax mode, Trov glitch, BFE or any other nonsense.
*No new uberstack glitch.
*No Cheatbot2.
*AI parts are allowed but...
*No 140cm extender.
*No trying to find loopholes, you should know what "Stock" means.

DSL specific rules:

*Normal DSL realistic rules apply.
*DSL 2.1 only.
*Glitches are allowed, so long as the realism is kept intact.

Match/general rules:

*All weight classes including Fleaweight, Featherweight, Cruiserweight, SHW and UHW.
*5 rounds per match, 1 point per round.
*I will restart matches due to match-altering glitches only.
*Robots that cause 3 glitches will be eliminated and given the loss.
*All matches will take place in the (possibly re-skinned) combat arena.
*All matches will be 2-3 minutes in length based on weight class (FLW - BW = 2 mins, all others will be 3 mins).
*I can AI all basic bots, anything odd will require you to AI it yourself.
*40 entries max.

Challenge Board / Re: Rankings and Titles
« on: May 16, 2013, 11:41:11 PM »
View the current champions on the Google Docs Spreadsheet

Also check the latest standings on the Google Docs Spreadsheet: Quick View | Full View

How this works:

*All title matches must include the name of the title in brackets for example: ianh05 vs 090901 [Stock LW Tag Title].
*A champion must defend his title against all challengers.
*You can not challenge a champion already involved in a match.
*A champion will lose his title if he doesn't accept a challenge or loses via DQ.
*Normal challenge board time limits apply, you have 1 week to submit your entry.
*The champion does NOT need to use the same bot to defend his title.
*Normal challenge board rules apply.
*Normal challenge board ranking points will be given out.
*All titles must be defended in a standard deathmatch style arena with no hazards/hazards off.

This and Jet-speed's showcase were on the last page when arranging topics by replies, these bumps seem like they were done on purpose to cause issues. Why not post in Re-stocked topic? it's last post was last year so at least it's not that old...

You're all just making things worse, why not go post in a game-related topic and stop spamming this?

I think this place could use something extra... Titles. Let's set up some different titles and have people fight over them and have a list of current champions.

Just think of all the different titles you could have up for grabs:

Member/Builder Titles:

*Rookie Championship - for the newcomers only.
*AW-UHW Championships - not bot specific, basically will be best builder of a certain weight in stock or DSL.

Bot Titles:

*LW-HW Tag Team Championships - for the best robot tag teams.
*Trio Championship - for the best team made of a LW, MW and HW.
*Team Championship - for the best team made of an AW, BW, LW, MW and HW.

Match Type Titles:

*LW-HW King of the Hill Championships - for the best KotH bots.
*LW-HW Tabletop Championships - for the best tabletop bots.

Have these titles for both stock and DSL and this place might see a boost in activity  :gawe: .

Splash:

Here are the awards you can vote on...

Charizard Award (most feared final evolution):

Pikachu Award (the best first evolution (LW) that it's builder doesn't want to evolve because it doesn't get much/any better):

Magikarp Award (the most useless first evolution (LW) that evolves into (MW) something awesome and destructive):

Zubat Award (the most annoying bot that has a habit of causing upsets):

Gyarados Award (coolest looking bot):

Instead of UHW you should have SHW.
Red vs Blue is ALL weight classes from Fleaweight to UHW.

What do you mean by randomly generated teams ? The bot types, the weightclasses are randomly generated ?
Team members, will fix that up now.

Tournament Archives / Vote for my next tournament [Poll]
« on: May 13, 2013, 11:21:40 PM »
With Evo-Bots winding down it's time for a new poll. Vote for what you want to see next!

Red vs Blue [Stock and DSL2, all weight classes] - 2 teams with randomly generated members, each member creates a different weight class for either stock or DSL. For this tournament you could feature every single weight class put forward including fleaweights (100kgs or less), featherweights (175.1-200kgs), cruiserweights (400-600kgs) and ultra-heavyweights (1200-3000kgs) along with all the other weight classes.

Robot Checkers [Stock LW] - 2 teams with randomly generated members, 1 board with the goal to defeat all the opposing teams bots. Bot's are placed on a checkers board and the teams take turns moving bots, once 2 bots make contact they battle and the losing bot is removed from the board this process continues until one team eliminates all opposing bots.
