Modifications / Robot Arena 2: Stock 'n' Roll

New mod that I'll be having a go at even though this has probably been done before. All I'm going to do is take all the stock robots, including The Rookies, and beef them all up. I won't be using any modded components, just all the basic stuff from the original game. All the bots will retain their original chassis shapes and paint jobs but with added and/or replaced weapons, drive motors and wheels. No idea how long this will take but it should be good to work on. Let's see how this goes. Arenas will be unchanged. The UI might be updated but I haven't decided on that yet.

Number 3 was the exact reason why I was hesitant about releasing it. But nonetheless, thanks for your input. I asked for permission if I could release this to others, you said no. Case closed. It was just that I thought about showing some work to others so they could have fun with it. I would feel the same way if I was put in your shoes. Well there it is, I will work on it as a personal project, but it's just a shame that nobody else could see what I'd done.

The biggest issue you'll have with this is keeping these things balanced, IIRC the replicas in RWRA2 are heavier and more powerful than a lot of the replicas in the older RW Mod, you'd have to completely rebuild them with motors from the mod for them to really be useable.

When RWRA2+ was released I did something similar to this and rather cheekily built up replicas of Kat 3 & Mega Morg using hidden components that were scrapped in development. The result was extremely jarring, seeing ultra realistic replicas mixing with almost cartoon like replicas, the lack of visual cohesion was too off putting and I ended up deleting it all... Not to be disrespectful to the people that made the mod but I can see why certain things were excluded from release.

I get what you mean about the replicas, but it might've been kind of fitting seeing as how they are old robots they are very weak by today's standards. That was a sense of realism I got while working on it. Also, the replicas didn't look out of place when I tried them out with the others in the pack, they looked to-scale and screen-accurate so they would've fit in well.

So I've been working on something for the RWRA2 mod that I have named RWRA2: The Ultimate Remix. It started off with me wanting to AI some of the replicas from the 2013 AI Pack so I could battle against them instead of just playing as them. I didn't want to remove any other robots in the mod, so I've created new teams and added the bots in those teams. It started as something of an experiment to see if any of this could be done and after working on this for quite a few weeks now, I got the idea that I could possibly release this to others. However it is RWRA2 and it is somebody else's work and I thought it would be unfair to reupload something I hadn't created. And I was also thinking about whether or not I would get in trouble for including robots that did not have permission to be used. So I have a question for the RWRA2 mod makers, would it be OK for me to put this up for download when it is finished or am I not allowed to do so? And does anybody else want me to release this?

There's a fan made game that has elements from Robot Wars, Battlebots and Robotica in it. It has been made in Unity and is currently in an alpha with the third version having been released recently. There's currently the Pinball Warrior Tournament from Robot Wars, The Maze from Robotica and a Dump Zone game based on the one from the GBA version of Extreme Destruction. There isn't a fight mode at the moment, but this could be added later on. This has the potential to be a decent game if it continues to be updated.

General Support / RWRA2: Tanto wheels glitch

OK so there's a weird glitch happening with Tanto on my copy of RWRA2. Basically, the wheels are glitched between the 2 variations:


This one that comes with The Rookies team has a texture on the wheels


The AI version from the Import Bot section has solid black wheels


This is from a clean copy that I downloaded today. Is anyone else having this problem and how can I fix it so the AI version has textured wheels?

I don't think there is. That game was never as popular as RA2 so it's highly unlikely that people would have done anything interesting with it.
