Okay, so after editing it a bit to make everything a bit clearer, does it actually seem interesting to anyone?

Tournament Archives / Not Just Another DSL 2.2 IRL Tournament [Inactive]« on: November 18, 2016, 09:55:59 PM »![]() cue "another DSL 2.2 IRL tournament? really?" I apologize for all of the typos and general errors I made while making this. Note to self: don't write up tournaments while you're exhausted. So I was thinking of how to make a truly interesting tournament the other day, because most tournaments these days tend to fall into flipper-dominated tournaments with a nice little side of Horizontal or Vertical Spinners. So I thought, hey, why not encourage creativity with a nice little DSL 2.2 IRL tournament because those haven't been saturated to all sh** yet. (In case you couldn't tell that's a wonderful little thing called sarcasm) BUILDING RULES: DSL 2.2 IRL with DSC's IRL Packs Weight Limit: CruiserWeight (399 - 600kg) The following types of bots are allowed: Ring/Shell Spinners (that aren't built with standard DSL discs) Anything that functions off of turrets Unconventional Flippers (i/e no Apollo-style flippers) SnS/ MeltyBrains Multibots (That conform to the other rules) Creative variations on conventional bots (i.e. some sort of odd variation on Tombstone would be allowed, but just straight up Tombstone wouldn't) Lifters(Not flippers, proper lifters) Swiss Army Bots (all of the weapons must apply to the other rules as well.) Hybrids CF can be used as much as you want, so long as it's still more or less IRL (i.e. no batteries within batteries) (EDIT: after looking at 090901's new DSL showcase, nothing too ridiculous like sticking your robot controller on the top of your bot.) All bots will be put through inspection to see if they qualify. I can't AI that well, so I'd highly recommend you do your own AI for this, but if it's needed I can AI. TOURNAMENT SYSTEM: The Arena will be a modified DSL Tournament Arena, with custom textures, Hazards enabled In the following order of amount of entries: 8 entries; 12 entries -- 2 wildcards; 16 entries; EDIT: After further inspection of the rules, I've realized that because this is my first tournament I'm not allowed more than 16 entries. All fights are 1v1, Havok results in a rematch.; Each person may submit up to 2 bots. SUBMISSIONS: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. //I apologize for formatting this like it's code, it's a habit 23

gabriel interactive is probably the most gabriel interactive gabriel interactive in the existence of gabriel interactive and I can't believe gabriel interactive is gabriel interactive I find it quite gabriel interactive that gabriel is interactive.

Finally an update! I've got plenty of bots to show but I wanted to get this set out there, I present the RGB Series of IRL bots!
![]() Armour for all is Plastic 1 because weight constraints. Red Adder: ![]() ![]() First of the series, didn't even know I was gonna do a series with this one, this is the fifth iteration, with (I think) zero clipping issues! Weapon is two 50x50 bars Green Enigma: ![]() ![]() Second of the series, actually the one that was built last, uses a geared beta motor to do decent damage, only bot in the series to use separate tones of colours. Blue Rebel: ![]() ![]() Third and last of the series, probably one of the most compact bots I've made, little feet in the front are to prevent the disk from hitting the ground constantly. 32
Real Robotics Discussion / idk if there's a CAD request thread but I guess here's one.« on: September 10, 2016, 01:18:28 AM »
So I recently bought a few motors off of banggood because they were on sale and I mean hell why not, I've been planning on making a robot for ages. The problem is, I'm using Inventor and I'm really struggling with finding some of the CADs for the offbrand things. Does anyone have any CADs for this:
http://www.banggood.com/4X-Racerstar-2205-BR2205-2300KV-2-4S-Brushless-Motor-2-CW-2-CCW-For-QAV250-ZMR250-260-Multirotor-p-1066837.html or something similar? 33

Modifications / Re: Replacing models in DSL?« on: August 20, 2016, 01:41:37 PM »IIRC the guys behind the Robot Wars modpack got shaders and anti-aliasing to work with RA2. I don't entirely remember the extent of that and how they did it, but it's possible at the very least. Yeah, but there's anti-aliasing and anisotropy. Anti-aliasing smooths out edges of models, anisotropic filtering smooths out rendering of textures so you don't get jagged lines on textures. They're pretty much the same thing but for different elements of graphics. That said, even just anti-aliasing would be quite nice, but the MSAA I've tried out doesn't work that well (at least the one from SweetFX, it doesn't seem to do much to it). 36
Modifications / Re: Replacing models in DSL?« on: August 19, 2016, 07:58:41 PM »It's the skins that need the update more than the models in my opinion. So after a bit of work, I made this: ![]() Not Jaw-droppingly good, but I can comfortably say it's a start. EDIT: After further inspection I've realized that something of this size doesn't really have much of a point in getting re-textured. It doesn't seem to do all that much because of the lack of Anisotropic Filtering in RA2. I'm gonna make another progress report after a slightly bigger modification. 37

Seems like everyone does these so I thought I might as well hop on the bandwagon!
First up we have one of my first semi-serious bots, really just built for looks though. I present to you, Termite: Second we have a decent bot, this is going to lead to my obsession with lots and lots of burst motors. I present Nom Nom: Third is my first good spinner, Sweet Death: Next is a trash bot (hint: it's just a wedge). This is Wedge Meister: So, this bot idea came to me in the shower and I thought "Hey, this is a amazing idea!" and I made it. I present to you, Junkyard Monster: I think this is the sixth bot. *checks* yep, it's the sixth bot. I think this robot is quite unique, Flip Meister: This list is getting big, just like the size of This bot is an exercise in uselessness, it started off okay and slowly devolved into an artbot. Smubble: *insert joke about dual spinners being bad here* Welcome to the spoiler, Counter Neverlution: Finally, my most competitive and kinda cool looking bot, Tydrus: Well that's it for now, Further developments may occur. Leave feedback please (take into account this is about two months worth of robots and only the highlights, a lot of my earlier designs have massive amounts of wasted space left there because looks are cool). Here is the video of Junkyard Monster. https://www.youtube.com/embed/fP1rZ-svvkA 39
Modifications / Re: Replacing models in DSL?« on: August 12, 2016, 03:14:35 PM »If it uses DX it should be compatible with SweetFX right? So I tried out SweetFX, doesn't really do what I wanted, I mean, it works, but I was more looking for a way to generally improve reflections, shadows, etc. EDIT: so I made a model of sorts, not actually part of DSL originally but would this be too detailed? ![]() (exclude the tiles on the ground obviously) All of the cylinders have 36 faces if that matters. 40
